Since the excursions occur from or in The Bahamas a sales tax is required under that county's laws.

Can anyone confirm that the former Song of America (Celestyal Olympia) is being scrapped? It has been stated in a prohibited blog that this is the case. I cannot find any news articles on this. She is the ship that started our many wonderful cruises with RCI!

Dining discount while on board
Scotty G replied to tupperny's topic in Royal Caribbean International
On our 6 November Mariner voyage I went to Jamies on the next to last night to book a meal for the last night. The Manager told me they were offering a 20% discount ship wide. We had already used our C&A Bogos that cruise. Tupperny, If you don't see any being offered around the ship, just ask. Bon voyage! ps, I lived in Penfield in 1990. -
Favourite Royal Caribbean Embarcation Port
Scotty G replied to Airbear232's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Port Canaveral is our "home port" and certainly one of the easiest for boarding processing due to a great staff. Parking or being dropped off and baggage processing is excellent. Tampa is also very nice for the same reasons. There are several nice hotels in the Bay area when we decide to stay over the night before embarkation. -

Coast Guard closed Port Canaveral

We've gone into Bermuda twice following hurricanes. Not all services were back up and running yet. We just hung around the Dock Yard until things opened up. -
We watch most of Ben and David's cruise videos. I was not surprised by this review. I believe they erred in not elevating their concerns to the Dining Room Manager. Their servers obviously were not experienced and should have been replaced or better supervised. Hopefully the HD is following up on this videos concerns! Also their comments about the menus were absolutely right on. Nightly menus that barely reflect content with a majority of dishes in that theme! We too were surprised by this.

Remote Work on a Transatlantic?
Scotty G replied to kayjaypea42's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Check Starlink coverage. Most ocean coverage is just off shore of covered countries. Recent voyages to Mexico and Honduras out of Florida we had sporadic coverage from North of Havana until getting near a port of call. -
Options for 17 year old leaving the ship
Scotty G replied to chfenton's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My choice would be to eat at Margaritaville and allow him to return to the ship from there. It is directly in sight of the security check point onto the pier. We prefer it to Senior Frogs and it is usually less crowded. -

We are in 9578 on the Starboard hump and the cabin is in excellent condition. The couch has no wear or tear! She is one of our favorite ships.

Disembarkation times from Mariner / Port Canaveral
Scotty G replied to VegasVic14's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You will get a list of departure times based on luggage tags the night before you arrive at PC. Recent cruises on Mariner we have tried to be near the last of since a family member picks us up. It is usually between 9 and 930. -

Please be aware that most times we have had a table for 2 the tables were inches apart from others with 2 Tops. On rare occasion we got a 2 Top by a window.

Booked inside cabin - having regret.....
Scotty G replied to dizzyr's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Mariner has inside cabins overlooking the Promenade through nice Bay windows. I believe they are on decks 6, 7 and 8. When we use them I choose deck 7. Can hear music, etc. during parades and other activities on the promenade. -

We are on the current voyage and when we got to our cabin at opening the cards were not there. 5 minutes later the steward showed up with all the cards. -

Is everyone still bringing their vaccination cards?
Scotty G replied to 8esther8's topic in Royal Caribbean International
When we processed in for our current cruise on Jewel at PC the attendant asked if we were vaccinated. We replied yes and do you need to see our cards. She most emphatically said "absolutely not". -
