  1. The time of year, the time of week and fare costs all contribute. If it's over spring break/holiday and/or a weekend, much higher odds it'll be a booze cruise. Same goes for the costs, if you search the cost of insides and oceanviews and see one sailing is significantly cheaper than other sailings it increases the odds of that sailing being a booze cruise.
  2. Email the CEO and one of her exec team will answer it; this is the only way to get things done. Countless examples of folks emailing the engagement center who claim to "pass their suggestion along" and never receiving a reply then folks getting suggestions implemented and/or things resolved (even petty things) by getting the exec team involved. Some folks may not like this approach but emailing the CEO gets things done, arguing your viewpoint with random people on CC is a pointless waste of time.
  3. Which ship and I'm surprised the host or concierge wasn't able to do anything...They have a waitlist, perhaps one needs to ask to be put on it; they've always offered to put me on it
  4. To prevent the spread of mis-information this is why people shouldn't post reviews mid cruise, they should wait until the sailing is complete. "NO AC" was for the first couple of days on the return to sailing; every live review I saw on here and FB said the lack of AC was resolved. With all that being said, it sounds like there are still slow service and food issues (some claims of very long waits for food when the food comes and it's cold) and several have reported the wifi is the slowest in the fleet. Great for team "I'm retired, don't use the internet" bad for team "Not retired, I can cruise more often if I can occasionally get some work done".
  5. Once you're on board you can make requests and the more flexible you are the better chance you have of receiving it. Doesn't matter if you purchase in advance or on board. For example, if you want a 6pm reservation, tell the host the days you'd be interested. People change their reservations all the time.
  6. One tip for those who want a guy due to wanting a more intense/deeper tissue massage, book the first appointment of the day when the massage therapists hands are the strongest.
  7. Just a datapoint, the Infinity is charging $59 flat (no additional gratuity) for Le Petit
  8. Double whammy of bad news, unless something changes, no discounts on board and now there’s a forced 18% gratuity charge making a dinner for two at $55 a $129.80 charge. I’ve been on six sailings since the restart including the equinox. They have a manned specialty restaurant station right by the buffet entrance, I’ve heard many asking for a discount and be told no unless you buy a package, then you can receive the slight package discount.
  9. That’s the pre-cruise discount which generally isn’t as much as the CC discount. It could vary by ship but they’ll give you the discount on-board and usually right in the app
  10. 100% agree; it’s probably a money grab where they hope they don’t have give discounts/upgrades.
  11. Since the restart on the Edge has anyone seen a show in the Eden with the entertainers in costume (not a band)? I was on the edge in July 2021, no shows besides musicians. They may only be on apex and beyond at the moment
  12. Brace wire is NOT meant to be ingested, it’s thicker, more rigid & therefore more dangerous than most thinner and more flexible bristle wires.
  13. lol, right back at ya...Luckily, doctors have anti-cheating protocols in place, X doesn't (probably because they don't care)
  14. Basically they're the only shop around; they're the same company as Neal Watson, not sure if they merged or one bought the other out but they're the same. I'm booked with them.
  15. At least one person posts the answers every quiz; most who post the answers have a different mindset, they don't see themselves as a cheat, they see themselves as being helpful.
  16. We know the worst case scenario (this) and the best case scenario (nothing happens), the question is, how often will someone need medical attention after ingestion? I posted an article that states if someone ingests brace metal wire (which is typically far more rigid than a brush bristle), which is capable of tissue puncture, 80-90% of incidents won't need medical attention.
  17. Seems like those who in that discussion were confused...Except for the al la carte (disclaimer, I have no idea about Le Voyage) restaurants: 1) Extra apps are fine at any restaurant 2) Extra entrees are allowed at any restaurant but in specialties you're supposed to be charged $20; like corkage charges, they don't always charge you like they're supposed to
  18. I'll bite...Typical WebMD click bait article which is intentionally vague for the views, even what you quoted, the words "IF" and "CAN" appear without mentioning how often "if" and can" happen. This pointless worse-case scenario article doesn't give any numbers to how often they "CAN tear up" a persons insides, unlike my article which listed the numbers. By no means am I saying it's impossible to get injured, simply saying odds are low that bad things will happen if one does.
  19. -"Cooked" fish on the buffet that's still frozen in the middle, that is bad. - Purchasing food from ports other than the embarkation port isn't something big cruise lines like to do unless it's an one off special that's incredibly rare. They have existing contracts with the suppliers at the embarkation port to bring on frozen food on pallets. - With the metal wire, the human body is pretty resilient and odds are no medical attention would be required; its not very dangerous and if it was, there's medical on board and like you eluded to, you could always sue.
  20. Should also be noted that X recently changed the carryon rules, You’re now allowed to carry on 2 bottles of wine/bubbly a person
  21. That is misinformation, I have repeatedly bought or upgraded the internet mid cruise
  22. I have been on six X sailings since the restart, never saw any of the crew encourage or enforce social distancing. Elevators being a major culprit. You'll need to increase your sailing budget to find a boutique luxury cruise line who buys fresh fish. The standard process is all food comes aboard frozen on pallets at the embarkment port; I sailed Crystal in 2017 and they stated all their food has to be frozen prior to coming on board for safety reason. I do understand the disappointment of finding a foreign item in ones food and being told issues will be elevated but they aren't. They did offer free(?) medical support and two comped meals. I believe the bigger issue is swallowing a metal wire as far less dangerous that most realize. Furthermore, like anything, if one is injured from a sailing as pointed out, one would sue anyways, not sure why that's even worth mentioning to the officer who attempting to make the passengers happy.
  23. It's a good starting point but there can be significant savings if one buys things mid-cruise. Some might be able to hold off on buying the internet and/or drink package until day 3 or day 4, same with internet and drink package upgrades, can add them mid-sailing and only pay the prorated amount.
  24. They felt "safe" before? I couldn't possibly see X make an exception due to that reason. I have never felt "safe" from Covid on cruise ship, quite the opposite as there are minimal protocols which are only loosely enforced. I cruise as a calculated risk.
  25. Some questions... 1) Has anyone successfully "waived off" the canapes? The Canapes delivery person I saw a few times wasn't my cabin steward, when they knocked on my door I said I didn't want them and he told me to take it anyway and if I didn't want it to put it outside my door. 2) Has anyone in a non-suite been able to "convert" the canapes to a cheese plate? If yes, who do you ask? I understand you can call room service daily but would be great to "convert" the canapes to a cheese plate and have them deliver it regularly vs calling daily
