  1. Will there be consequences if you experience hiccups, get disconnected, and cannot reconnect? For most sailings, I use MS Teams for work meetings where I am NOT the presenter, they share their screens and we don't use cameras. I've had perfect meetings and in one meeting I got the boot and couldn't get back on. The majority of the meetings, I have freezes/hiccups where often they come in waves, the screen may free and the audio will produce a steady "ah" sound for five seconds or less
  2. I think this is it, would you agree?
  3. I think of it like insurance, I give the porter a $5 regardless if I'm solo with one bag or with Ms. Nuts and have four bags. You never know if the porter's significant other broke up with them or they receive some other bad news and they decide to act out I then give the cabin attendant a $10 as in my experience they tend to bend over backwards for you and don't seem to fish for tips. Generally tip a dollar per drink yet not if it's just water. Leave the auto-tips on and may tip those who go above and beyond
  4. I wonder if they're just using the sirloin which was once on the everyday classics menu but is now rotational
  5. Do us a huge favor, order it again, take and post a photo, and for the heck of it, try it again to confirm it was as tough and awful as last time
  6. Unfortunately, you paid for the cruise contract which allows them to drop benefits or even ports
  7. For those wanting to hear something positive...No...More...Mashed...Potatoes!
  8. Are they specifically talking about the food? The first 50 posts are mostly X-related questions. I cruise on X about 8 times a year, while I have some food item favorites, it's mostly misses, and therefore love eating off the ship. Many will tell me to just book a different cruise line and I reply that I'm way ahead of them as I've always had multiple cruise lines booked since I first sailed X. Obviously I do like many aspects of X but the food and entertainment aren't one of them so perhaps a positive trip report doesn't necessarily mean good food
  9. When the next anti-food thread is created, will you post your opinion on it? How about the one after that and the one after that, etc., etc.? I seem to recall a term where if you're doing the same thing over and over and expect different results... 🙃
  10. FB groups are generally the most popular place for passengers to share their opinions and often do so in real time Since you mention youtube, you might enjoy this:
  11. I understand you're pointing out the paint below the waterline. Just comment above the waterline I see them paint the hull (I guess it's usually a touchup) all the time when docked in port
  12. Maybe it would be helpful to some, what kind of phones and what settings?
  13. If you have an existing comped offer whether land or sea, you submit that offer to them and they'll reply with various discounted-comped offers you qualify for. If you have specific questions I would recommend googling URComped's FAQ
  14. In 2024, NCL is selling four sailings that go to Bora Bora on two ships with a capacity of 2000+. Entirely possible they are limiting capacity or were grandfathered in. Whatever the case, if one wants to go to Bora Bora on a mass-market cruise line, it is possible on NCL and is seemingly fairly inexpensive (insides for under $100/night PP) for the non-suites relative to the number of nights which makes me wonder if they limited capacity
  15. An easy way to access those channels, go to channel one and press the channel down button
  16. This isn't much different with land-based places but if he wants to get a good seat ensure he arrives early as the issue isn't always finding an open seat but rather finding an open seat with a view of a TV showing the game you want to watch
  17. Thanks for sharing. Highlighted, was X really losing that much revenue? Remember that it only costs X what they paid for it at wholesale prices. A 1.75L bottle of Smirnoff Vodka bottle retails by me for $17, you get 26 drinks if using standard pours out of it so it costs them $0.65 per drink in vodka in addition to the minimal costs for mixers and labor. Pretty safe bet at wholesale pricing, it only costs X no more than a USD dollar per drink. We also have to consider the alternatives, if they knew they couldn't get free drinks do we think they would have bought those exact drinks individually, would they order doubles which is/was cheaper than two drinks, would they just head to the casino to get free drinks or would they purchase the drink package and ensure they get their money's worth? The overall point is that it generally costs X less for drinks than one thinks
  18. They claim demand is high. Many would prefer to never hear the term "cookiegate" again, yet some theorized it was the catalyst that got them to look at social media and forums like CC more seriously. Some have claimed to have never complained to X before but that cookiegate triggered them to write a complaint email about every topic that bothered them and not solely a cookiegate complaint. Regardless, all over social media and review sites for 2023 with X, there are complaints everywhere, and now X has decided they can no longer ignore which IMO is a good thing
  19. Cruise fare increases/decreases are a moot point because, like most of the travel industry, there isn't fixed pricing, it's demand-based dynamic pricing. The sailings they have difficulty filling are sent over as "Exciting Deals"/"SELECTS"; they could claim "See? We DID lower the pricing!"
  20. https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2023/07/27/royal-caribbean-cruises-rcl-q2-2023-earnings-call/?awc=12195_1695522404_eae4f8bd81262b21c42e97a911daab0e&utm_campaign=78888&utm_source=aw With the RCG Q2 earnings call, transcript above, there are multiple references to them raising prices; yet this is the quote that's the most disappointing:
  21. Now I'm curious, what are some other special requests?
  22. With LLP who was the CEO and President, you hardly ever saw the RCG (parent company) logo anywhere. When Laura came on, they stripped the position's title of CEO, Laura is only the President of X. RCG's CEO is Jason Liberty, a former CFO, and now we see the RCG logo everywhere. We'll probably never know for sure but it wouldn't be surprising if RCG is behind the cutbacks Social media seems convinced updated MDR menus are coming yet that could be nothing more than reversing some of the cutbacks
  23. With low expectations, ask the Captains Club concierge if they'll add benefits to your friend as they have made exceptions in the past
