NutsAboutGolf replied to TrueCruiseaholic's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Have you heard of any other updates in the "full announcement" or is it just the Zenith allowed into the Retreat? -
Zenith access to Retreat Lounge
NutsAboutGolf replied to TrueCruiseaholic's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Wonder if it applies to high-rolling casino players? Note, that you need some serious play in order to get to the casino status that allows what it calls "VIP Lounge" access which is the Retreat -
What beverages can I bring on board?
NutsAboutGolf replied to Painter4me's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The answer is "it depends". Some aspects of the rule are unenforceable because no one is keeping inventory of the number of wine bottles per stateroom. Putting one in your carry-on and another in your checked luggage is therefore unenforceable. I won't dive any deeper into the weeds -
Virgin fires a shot across Celebrity’s bow

Some like variety and some don't. We fall in the camp of that we like the latest and greatest even if the new ship is identical to the old ship -
In case folks don't understand AI, it most likely only took the OP 30 seconds of their time... In a land of laughter, by the sea so blue, Lived a fellow named C-Dragons, and this is true. With a twinkle in his eye and a smile so wide, He declared, "Life is Good!" with infectious pride. "WeCantWait," he exclaimed, "for the cruise ahead, To sail on the ocean, where the dolphins are fed. With sunshine and cocktails, and music to groove, We'll dance with the waves, in the cruise we'll move." He packed his bags with flip-flops and shades, And sunscreen to guard from the sun's fiery raids. C-Dragons was ready, he was quite the planner, For this cruise adventure, nothing could be grander! As he stepped on the ship, he couldn't contain, His joy and excitement, it was totally insane. With a captain's hat and a fruity drink in hand, He danced on the deck, like he owned all the land. The buffet was massive, the food was a feast, C-Dragons tried it all, from the west to the east. He piled up his plate with delights of all kinds, And declared to his friends, "This is paradise, we find!" They explored the islands, with treasures to see, From palm-fringed beaches to the deep, blue sea. C-Dragons even tried scuba, and snorkeling too, Making friends with a fish, they called him Stu! But all good things must come to an end, As the cruise returned to the shore, round the bend. C-Dragons sighed and said with a grin, "We'll be back again, where the fun will begin!" So, if you're feeling down, and life seems a bore, Remember C-Dragons, and his mantra once more. "Life is Good," he proclaimed, with a cheer, And on the next cruise, we'll all be there, my dear!

The best thing you can do is book the shortest cruise and gamble like you're on a week-long cruise

Will a government shutdown stop cruise ships?
NutsAboutGolf replied to LB_NJ's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Yes, but facial recognition kiosks weren't common then. There certainly could be congestion during a future showdown yet it'll be much less if there weren't any immigration kiosks -

They’re always used occupancy based dynamic pricing. They’ll open up high and progressively lower the price if there’s lots of available inventory -

For most the gratuity difference is under $200/pp, are many going to notice? -
Another thing about "party cruises" are many of those going "full-throttle" on board with drinks consume large amounts of alcohol at home so not as much throwing-up as expected We were on the Carnival Celebration and did Norway on the Pride; night and day difference between the ships. The biggies are you get free access to ChiBang (they are performing a trial that you pay $8 after your first visit) and the Italian place. Big Chicken and the street food are fantastic if you're in the mood for it

You should be able to bid; most of the time you cannot bid until 21 days before the sailing date yet some get it months in advance -
As stated I did say if this formula works for you; different people may prefer different formulas

Did Celebrity eliminate helipad sailaway on the Equinox?
NutsAboutGolf replied to peterde's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Usually sail AQ, often invited to sail away but we rarely go to them. Have never noticed them checking your seapass card -
Generally speaking, you won't have to wait until Black Friday for a sale as their frequent flash sales seem to be about the same discount

Virgin fires a shot across Celebrity’s bow

Interesting. I was on one single Crystal sailing but that was Genting owned, no idea if the food is the same/better/worse currently with the new owners. Food on my sailing was great, they had a Nobu (for a fee) but nothing knocked our socks off yet was better than most. X has some food winners and losers, IMO, the winners double cheese souffle, jerk chicken, and onion soup. Are they the best ever? No, but they are better than most. IMO the X food losers are the hot dogs which are the only things I've said are awful/throw-away, Mast Grill burgers and the baked desserts which just aren't worth the calories and some cakes have lots of gelatin in them for some reason. You're much better off with the ice cream -
They're called the internet manager, usually in the iLounge except for the first day, they'll be posted by guest services

I doubt a link even exists and if it did they wouldn't have it as they're on the ship. So @Barb1403, it would be greatly appreciated if the cost is in the daily or app if you would post an image of it 🙂 -

I have never been on VV yet have been told it's like an NCL experience with Crystal/Silver Seas caliber food, no idea if others feel the same way -

According to Business Insider for 2018 on the big three based on an average of 35 workers, these are the salaries for those regular workers not in leadership roles. We have to remember often they work 100+ hours a week, often work seven days a week, and rarely work an entire year as their contracts give them time off Annual 2018 salary: Carnival: $16,622 Royal Caribbean Cruises: $19,396 Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings: $20,101 You would have to imagine Celebrity and Princess do not pay much more -

Another thing to remember about VV is they pay their crew a salary with benefits, give them free wi-fi and let them eat where passengers eat -

Virgin America was acquired and killed off by Alaska Airlines. Virgin Samoa is also gone while Virgin Australia and Virgin Atlantic (Europe) still exist It doesn't appear Virgin Voyages is in jeopardy of being acquired yet perhaps a major cruise line's parent company buys a non-majority percentage -

Thanks for sharing. This sentence seems incorrect: "You currently have 114,284 points and currently Sapphire. Next year you will remain as Sapphire, but next year 2024 you will need to earn 114,284 or more points so you wont drop tier level in 2025." 100K (not 114K) TC's should be enough
