  1. Thanks! What's your opinion of receiving advanced permission from Carnival vs telling them there's an emergency once on board (which is true, if I don't get home I could be fired, lol)?
  2. Based on our experience with using Uber/Lyft, be sure to ensure one is prepared for 15 minutes of waiting as it's not uncommon for them to cancel for a variety of reasons at the port checkpoint. Some legally carry firearms for their protection yet those are not allowed in the port and some just get spooked by it and cancel
  3. The OP can cancel and will receive an automatic refund. I just wanted to point out that at the taxi, they'll often lie and say it's an unmetered fixed $20 ride. Therefore before getting into the taxi simply just ask the driver "this is a metered ride around $15, correct?"
  4. Don't forget that even if one is at the entire show, some are playing on their phones almost the entire time
  5. It depends WHERE on deck 12 you are https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-ships/celebrity-reflection/deck-plan
  6. A far more valuable question to ask you, rank them all, from the closest to perfect to the furthest from perfect
  7. Thanks, I did question the rep who said it was an international maritime act. After researching, it's an US only act
  8. We booked our most recent AQ sailing over a year ago and the rep found us the last AQ "bump out" cabin which was on Deck 9 on the Summit. To our surprise, our room was 3 doors down from a placard/sign that said "concierge class". We had no special shower and the balcony didn't have footstools. I did confirm with the room attendant I was in an aquaclass room and to expect daily waters
  9. On our upcoming spring sailing, we booked 1.5 years ago, I realized I did not have enough vacation days and my company would not let me go negative; my request for an exception was denied (lol). Therefore, to go on this cruise, we would need to disembark on the last port day in NZ and fly home from there. I called Carnival, and they simply said it was a violation of PVSA which I didn't realize was because it's two different countries, they said they discouraged this and said we should be expecting to receive an almost $900 fine which we're going to pay. Are there any other consequences besides the fine? Carnival wouldn't ban us? The rep's supervisor told me they couldn't find any other information
  10. RCI gives you free days instead of minutes, my WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is that X will change from minutes to days
  11. Bring tropical clothing and a hoodie or two
  12. That's specific to flash sales which happen infrequently. In the past, you could call the Capts Club anytime to receive the stacked pre-sail discount and the Capt Club discount
  13. Even though Vaping is now gone from X, I asked Gus what he thought, he said: "This conversation serves no purpose”
  14. Glad you had a great time! This is just a FYI for why there was "cookiegate" outrage, this isn't a debate, I'm sharing the position of those who were upset...The TravelingGamblers VBlogged a video from the equinox on that sailing. They spoke to the X F&B manager who mentioned they did screw up with "bad timing" as they did remove the free cookies from Cafe al Bacio at the same time as the fee cookies. Free cookies were available at the Buffet, yet reportedly, they hardly ever had Chocolate Chip and if they did it may have been no-sugar added. With X's CONTINUED cutbacks, many thought the removal of all complimentary cookies was next. This was the cookiegate outrage, they charged for cookies while removing the free ones from Cafe al Bacio. I personally would have tried the fee cookie as I'm not a fan of X's bland baked good including the cookies. I suggested they try the fee cookies again but leave the free ones at Cafe al Bacio; I wouldn't count on that happening
  15. Just seems every day I'm surprised by another passenger-unfriendly change. In many cases a flash sale at 40% may be your best bet
  16. I'm not sure what you mean, I booked my first-ever comped RCI sailing by calling them; I already had an RCI account but the offer was part of an MGM Rewards promotion
  17. While lately it seems the crew is always understaffed which increases their stress, I've always found the crew pleasant and just overall great
  18. You asked a question (highlighted in yellow) I gave my answer
  19. Based on receiving the comped offer multiple times, my WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is a good portion of the occupancy was filled by casino players
  20. I said earlier to start and finish in Oahu Hawaii and go to the French Polynesian (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, etc). However, could start in Hawaii and end in Tahiti for the southbound route and vice versa for the northbound. NCL has something like this one way and stops at other Hawaiian islands for a 12-nighter however you could do a one way with ample port time in 8 nights
  21. Be advised it can be both windy and choppy, many found it wasn't even fun to play if those conditions are present
  22. You're supposed to call them before you board and once you board tell your plan to guest services. Usually there's a fee
