Would you pay $21,348 for a 5 night cruise to Bermuda?
Husky1987 replied to Seannie's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The same reason some people blow $21k at the craps table in Vegas in 15 minutes. Because they can. -
No, you don't. Royal doesn't give a rip whether CVS or your online proctor cancels your scheduled test. If you're so worried that everyone around you and online will cancel Covid testing, then cancel your cruise right now. If, as others have suggested, you'll be able to find a valid test pretty easily, then stop worrying about "litigation" and just make it happen if it comes to it.

Oasis speciality restaurants and dress code
Husky1987 replied to timfan27's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This. Whether you wear a tux or shorts, you be you. Hold your head up high and don't let anyone else get you down. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -

Meh. People have "wasted" far more on far less. If you have $20k that doesn't matter to you and you want to get away for a few days, go for it. -
Your Favorite Beer That's Available On A Royal Ship?
Husky1987 replied to Ret MP's topic in Royal Caribbean International
First time I was there, I saw a couple customers leave the brewery with hand trucks piled high with Pliny cases. I asked the waitress what it was, she brought me some and I was hooked. I've planned road trips to Sonoma to bring back a couple cases. Totally worth the 12 hour drive each way. -

Fosters is now my favorite beer!!! (On RCL anyway)

Very cool....if you were in the business school/program at all, you may have known one or two. I think they'd have been a little bit (year or two) behind you. -

I have a few really good friends who went to Mizzou in the early-to-mid 80's. I still have these from a 1988 (I think) trip from KC to a football game in Columbia. -

No, it can't. -
The best eggs...fresh from the roost (the chickens basically have free run in our back yard). We started with six and now are down to three. We'll probably "restock" next year. Two things - 1. Don't believe it when someone tries to tell you that having chickens means cheap eggs. 2. Yes, I'm well aware that I outkicked my coverage. 🤣

Yep. In fact, (kinda like setting your cruise control and camping out in the left lane) highway patrol can ticket you for "impeding" a motorcycle doing it. Blew my mind the first time I saw it driving down there as well. I don't ride bikes, but I can't imagine putting your life in the hands of other people on the road like that.

I've cancelled twice in 2022. First time, I tested positive pre-cruise. Wouldn't have known if I didn't test (just had some sniffles...I've had allergies 10x worse). I called and let the CS rep know I tested positive and had to cancel. Second time, I was going solo but my wife tested positive that same week. I tested negative but didn't want to get on board and then get sick. I called and explained the situation to the CS rep and that I wanted to cancel. Never tested positive. I may have been super lucky with the rep(s) I got on the phone, but neither time did I have to send proof of a positive test. Both times I got full refunds within 2-3 weeks (even though one of the cruises used an FCC).

Are Airfares Affecting Your Cruise Plans?
Husky1987 replied to HicksRA's topic in Royal Caribbean International
+1 on all of that. I've found most direct flights to the main cruise ports from Seattle are pretty reasonable on Alaska. Just snagged $259 each way SEA-FLL for October and November cruises, which is pretty close to what it's been over the years. -

I can't answer mechanics, but we were just in Rome for a week. If you don't want to do an online proctored test, there appeared to be pharmacies all over with Covid testing. My $.02 (probably what it's worth) would be to find one close to where you're staying and pop in to make an appointment.

Favorite/Least favorite WJ buffet items?
Husky1987 replied to baelor's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We've had really good luck with the Indian food in the WJ our last few cruises. -
Wonderful! We happen to be doing the same thing, leaving next Friday for Italy and France for my daughter's graduation present from dental school. We are double vaxxed and boosted as well (and I caught a very mild case in February). Having to test to get back home and the possibility of one of us having to stay back was putting a damper on my enthusiasm. I had to chuckle when an Outlook reminder popped up this morning about a half hour after the news hit to buy upgraded travel delay insurance to cover up to $500/day in case of quarantine.

Simple advice - dress how you want. The only two people that may have an opinion that should matter are the maitre d' (who may or may not let you in, but most likely doesn't care either) and your significant other (who may or may not make you sleep on the floor if you don't dress how she wants you to). If anyone else in the dining room thinks their opinion matters...

Why cabin change if positive?
Husky1987 replied to jerseygirl3's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Until the rules get changed, as long as people choose to get tested by Royal as soon as they cough or have a sniffle, we'll be seeing the "I'm outraged! I tested positive and they moved me from my Grand Suite to a room with just a window!!!" threads...
