  1. We were there in March and went to the VIP area, $75. It gave us 2 chairs with cushions, umbrella, pool floats, and personal server for the area that brought drinks and food. (Additional $ of course) It was a roped off area right up front in the pool. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. We were there first thing so got our pick of chairs.
  2. Last cruise on the Magic in March the food was not good. The buffet was the worst I’ve ever seen, very little variety and not tasty. The MDR had much smaller portions (this is ok by me actually) but the sides were basically none. Like I was supposed to have grilled veggies and there were 2 small pieces. I know they were just getting back after the pandemic, I’m hoping things are getting figured out. I cruise on the Spirt with a picky 12 year old the end of the month and I’m wondering how that will go…. Lol
  3. Our NCL Encore cruise docked at Wards Cove. It was about a 15 minute shuttle to town. They had buses available at the port. There is also a building with quite a few souvenirs inside for shopping right there. It looked like a lot of excursions were picking up there also. It was a short stop, and the line to get back for a shuttle was long.
  4. We had a balcony on deck 15 on the Encore May 8th sailing and it was the perfect spot. We did go up to the bow, but it got crowded and the view wasn’t as good. Also down to deck 5 or 6, whichever it was that goes around the ship. They had a photographer down there that took the most AMAZING picture of the 2 of us in front of one of the glaciers. It seriously looked fake it was so pretty. But overall, we spent most of the time on our balcony. And yes, the ship rotates several times at the first glacier, and the 2nd glacier I think it went once or twice, so everyone gets to see. You see one side of glacier bay up and once side back. Your own private little heaven.
  5. The answer I received from John Heald was “Just the positive test record that has been officially monitored or proctored. Obviously if you have any symptoms please do not come to the ship.” So no time frame given, other than having no symptoms…. I screen shot that message. I am also going to do an antigen test thru eMed before my cruise and cross my fingers for a negative test. It will be a month past (June 29 we cruise, my positive test was May 26) so I think I will be ok. This is just a back up. Antigen isn’t supposed to be as picky as a NAAT test from what I’ve read.
  6. We sailed NCL May 8th and were both sick with covid a week later. We are vaccinated, and got our 2nd booster 2 weeks before we cruised. Have heard a lot of people cruising and then coming home and getting sick. Luckily, it was very minor, and lasted just a few days. I’m heading back on Carnival at the end of June and I guess I now have super immunity! Lol
  7. You may not be aware but there are smaller boats that go farther up to the glaciers. They are excursions that are booked from your starting port, such as Seattle. (Not Tracy Arm) Just an FYI….
  8. I don’t know, just what I heard. Sheesh.
  9. Sitting out under the stars watching a movie is one of my favorite things to do on a cruise. It’s relaxing. I think they quit the popcorn because of covid.
  10. When we boarded the NCL Encore on May 8th we were required to show the QR code before we could board. There was no way around it. We also had to fill out a form on board the ship. Some kind of declaration form. We didn’t get off at Victoria, too short a port, been there before and didn’t feel the need.
  11. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tongass/about-forest/offices/?cid=stelprdb5400800 Here’s a link to the visitor’s center. (See below) You can also take the city bus, but it will drop you off about a mile from the visitors center. So, if you don’t mind spending about $50, it’s worth taking a shuttle. (This includes the entrance fee) I haven’t used them yet but have reserved one of the two options for our cruise in June. Scroll down to “getting from downtown Juneau to Visitors Center & Recreation Center” and it gives the two options with links.
  12. That’s my plan also. I think after a month I should be negative. I already purchased the eMed test so I’m not out anything.
  13. I guess I’m confused as I thought I needed something from my doctor. So I just need my walgreens positive test from Thursday?
  14. I’m going thru the same thing right now, but don’t cruise until June 29 so I think I should be ok. I tested positive on Wednesday for the first time, so will be just over a month out. I did go to walgreens for a lab test on Thursday, and will notify my doctor of the results this week. Stressful, right??? I have my eMed test already so I’m fine with taking the test, but I want to make sure I’m still not positive for some crazy reason. I guess I’m super immune now, since I’ve had 4 shots now…..
  15. Most people, with the exception of one guy, (grrr) took turns on the viewing platforms. The views outside were better, obviously, not really that bad with a coat on. It was something like May 12th when we were on the ride. Lots of snow, glorious views all the way down to the harbor.
  16. We were on the Encore May 8-15 and the pool and slides were open. No, I had no desire to partake! BRRRRRR….. I did stick my hand in the water. It wasn’t super cold, not bad. But outside was cold.
  17. We finally went on NCL, first time on another line other then Carnival. Food was far superior, the ship was gorgeous. We also paid 4x as much…..
  18. We were on the Encore May. 8-15 and both have covid now…..
  19. I went on a more expensive line a couple weeks ago and there were MOUNDS of bacon every morning, all you wanted. But it did come at quite a bit more money…. Lol
  20. The arrivecan thing is just kinda stupid because you are already jumping thru all the hoops before getting on the ship anyway, so all the bases are covered. You are providing the exact same info again ( your immunization record and passport info, no testing) But it is what it is so we do it.
  21. I had this in march on the Magic. A trick is to catch a server at the bar when they are putting orders in, and if they are nice they will order it for you. The bartender will make it right then. Most will do it. Tip them a couple bucks, still cheaper then buying outright. It’s still a pain in the butt though.
  22. I’m sure they do. I hope they figure out the fogging issue as it was a problem. Literally 3 hours of wiping down windows.
  23. We went to amber cove in march and had won nicely at the casino so went to the VIP area, which was nice. Had up front cushioned lounge chairs with our own server. I think it was $75. It was a nice splurge. Went to La Romana once and we did an excursion out to Isla Catalina. It was GORGEOUS out there. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
  24. The name of the company was Allen Marine. It was just unfortunate they couldn’t crack a few windows or open the doors and got some air circulating.
