  1. Perhaps they thought that you were interested in doing a "mileage run" to earn additional flight credits or airline miles? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
  2. Here is an Instagram video clip with Rover. You may need to paste this link in your browser to access: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1-xRgYxtDb/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==
  3. That bread looks fantastic, @Will Work for Tiramisu!
  4. While it is true that global situations can change rapidly, in my opinion Silversea's dithering on this is inexcusable. Many passengers questioned the wisdom of the plan to continue this itinerary and every other cruise line altered their itineraries some time ago. At the very least, either when the conflicts began or when Silversea elected to continue with this itinerary (believe that early December was passengers' last opportunity to opt out?), senior management should have done some scenario planning and mapped out alternatives for ship movement/routing and potential substitute ports so they would be in a better position to nimbly alter plans and communicate the changes to passengers. While they may not have been able to predict the specific instances that would occur, they certainly could have laid out internally logical IF/THEN scenarios. And the default decision should always be safety of passengers and crew first, security of multi-million-dollar assets (the ship) next, with short-term loss of revenue lower on the hierarchy of priorities.
  5. These latest developments reinforce the wisdom of the itinerary change and cancellation of the next leg. Frankly, Silversea would be foolish to move the Silver Moon to Dubai though these waters even with a skeleton crew. Iran claims it has seized US oil tanker off coast of Oman in chilling escalation (msn.com)
  6. No guesses needed to discern what was beneath those gold thongs either! πŸ˜‚
  7. Oh, I saw pictures on another site of a charter voyage on the Spirit last March with β€œinteresting” passenger attire (example - jacket with epaulets, collar and bow tie - paired with no shirt and gold lame bathing suit bottom)…
  8. Ever since this country club started putting on a fabulous NYE fireworks show a few years ago, I’m always puzzled when friends ask where I’m going for NYE. β€œTo the foot of the driveway with a bottle of champagne!” Happy New Year, Coolers!
  9. It's a shame they haven't been enforcing this all along. The hand wash setup at La Terraza is very sleek and just takes a few seconds.
  10. Yes, open seating is the same across ships, except the Spirit does not have SALT Restaurant but has Indochine (love it!) as open seating restaurant in addition to Atlantide. I totally agree that it is hard to know what you might want to eat 120 days out. The main two restaurants to reserve in advance on the Spirit if you are interested in them are La Dame and Silver Note, as both of those restaurants have limited seating capacity. Last year I was unable to get a reservation to dine at Silver Note on the Spirit either in advance or onboard, but stopped by after dinner in Atlantide and had a delightful end of the evening with drinks and dessert and honestly preferred that option. The Grill/Hot Rocks requires reservations too. For that venue, it can be helpful to look at your itinerary and perhaps book the Grill for a day when you have a long excursion or long day in port.
  11. Someone needs to contact this school’s English department - or the local diocese for an exorcist. πŸ˜‚
  12. What ship will you be on? Different ships have different restaurant options. A couple of comments on your questions: - You mention making a very early dining reservation and a very late one on the same evening, The earliest seating is 7 pm, so you would basically be making back to back reservations. If you’re hungry in the late afternoon/early evening before the restaurants open, you can order from room service (many passengers have their butler bring sone canapΓ©s to their suite at 4or 5 pm) or grab something light from the Arts Cafe if there is one on your ship. - Thankfully, you will not be able to make two reservations for the same evening. However, if you dine at one restaurant, you may be able to stop by another for dessert. This is a great way to enjoy Silver Note if reservations are booked up - stop by for after dinner drinks and dessert to enjoy the entertainment. - Waits at an open seating restaurant are very rare (have actually never seen this although some reported waits on the Nica when poor weather shut down the Marquee. The best wait to avoid any wait is to go to the open seating restaurants from 7 to 7:20 or so. -Please don’t book β€œbackup” reservations when you plan to dine at one of the open seating restaurants. You will be depriving other passengers of the opportunity to book a reservation at your backup choice and it truly is not necessary. - I’ll let others weigh in about La Dame.
  13. I believe that they have restored the ability for Venetian Society members to arrange to visit a ship for the day and have lunch onboard (for a fee). Definitely a great opportunity if you get the chance to do so.
  14. Thank you for the wonderful sentiments for the new year @mysty! Cheers to you and Myster as you set off on your grand adventure. Hope that this trip (and Santa) brings you everything you wish for - and more!
  15. I approve of this β€œnew math.” πŸ₯‚
  16. So sorry to hear this Lois! Hope that your recovery is going well.
  17. Yes. Silversea adds the cost of any selected shore excursions to your folio onboard and your OBC will be deducted from the total at the end of your voyage.
  18. This. And if it's particularly busy/crowded when you are looking for a porter at the airport, one of the lessons that I learned from my wise Mother more than 50 years ago was to simply hold up your arm with a $10 or $20 bill (depending on the amount of luggage) in your hand. πŸ˜‰
  19. Keep in mind that if you decide to try to board early and are able to do so, you may not be able to access your suite or your luggage onboard until 4 pm. Your proposed plan of having a nice lunch at the hotel and relaxing before heading to the port makes sense - and you can always ask the hotel for a late checkout.
  20. So happy for you, Chris and your new furkids @jpalbny! Hopefully they are patient as you progress through your training as their new butler. πŸ˜…
  21. When I was on the Nova in Sept/Oct and mentioned how disappointed that I was that Ship Happens wouldn't, well, happen, she said that she was too, but mgmt. had told her that her show "wasn't in keeping with the direction they wished to go with entertainment on the Silver Nova." While undoubtedly paraphrased, it sounds as if they were less than diplomatic about this edict.
  22. Vicki is amazing. So sad to see her leave Silversea.
