  1. Just came off Carribbean Cruise and spoke with Head of Personnel for the Pool area in regards to securing a chair with towel on it. They will only monitor if you bring it to their attention. If a chair has a towel on it and is vacated for more than 1/2 hour the personnel on duty in the towel area will remove it for you . We came through the pool area at approx 8:30 am and and took a pic of chairs with towels on. Came back after breakfast and dressed for the pool at approx 10:00 am and went and got the Pool Personnel at the towel area . Showed him the pic and time and he removed the towels. No confrontation at all with other people.
  2. You can cab or shuttle. We have done both.
  3. Thankyou to all who have replied. As someone commented earlier Norwegian has also gone to charging a premium for items in the dining room. I hope Princess does not go this route but time will tell. For new cruisers they will not know the difference but to us seasoned cruisers we will certainly miss the good old days.
  4. We have just returned from a 7 day cruise on the Norwegian Prima. They have a fixed menu everyday in their dining rooms. We so enjoy eating in the dining room with the same waiter every night however rethinking Norwegian in the future as there s not enough choice on the menu. No we did not starve but I think it is a way to have their customers upgrade to the alternative restaurants. I am hearing rumbles that Princess is thinking of this as it certainly is less expensive for the cruiseline. We love Princess as we find their selection of food great in the dining rooms and they still offer lobster and beef wellington on dress up night. We last sailed in August last year on a 15 day so if there has been any changes please let me know . Thanking in advance for your responses.
  5. You can hear the go carts but they are not real loud.
  6. Yes Rycheff understaffing was a real issue but I must say the service we got from the staff who took care of us was top notch.
  7. Please keep in mind this is my opinion and I had read the ship reviews before we cruised on Prima but would not judge until we sailed. We are not new to cruising and have sailed on NCL many times as well as other cruiselines. Will share with you the Excellent , the Good and the not so Good. The Excellent, was our interior stateroom on Deck 12. Decor was very modern, tons or storage and the bathroom especially the shower was the best we have experienced on all our cruises. The service and staff were absolutely wonderful in all areas. The entertainment was good. Noise Boys and Price is Right very good, Comedian was Good, Donna Summer Show ok. Could not get into the smaller venues as people lined up over an hour in advance to see the entertainment. We are dining room people and the fixed menu is definitely not to our liking. No you will not starve but we have always had great food in the dining room on any cruise line we have been on. I believe NCL has gone to this type of menu so more people will choose their specialty restaurants and will save them an enormous amount of money and planning. Just a note the food never seemed to be hot enough. Buffet was continuously crowded especially on sea days. Big lines and not enough seats. The Endulge was good for lunch but if you want finer dining do not go here for dinner. There is very little service. If you want condiments you have to go to a table to get them and the salt and pepper comes in the little paper bags. There is only one type of salad dressing available for your salad. Will not go on about the Endulge as you may or may not enjoy this type of dining. Cagneys was good. The Local was very good. (Best cob salad and chocolate sundae anywhere). Pool area is definitely too small . Never enough room on sea days and the bar line ups were everywhere. The design of the ship made us struggle sometimes. Felt like a maze. Very dark in a lot of areas, Atrium was ok but nothing special, had to walk through buffet to get to pool and it always felt crowded in all the common areas. Just a few notes for people going on this ship. Take bandages for small cuts as the shops on this ship carry basic minimum unless your looking for jewelry. We went to get throat lozenges and they do not carry anything like that so they sent us down to Medical. Was told had to make and appointment with the doctor and pay for his time. We did not do this. A young girl was waiting outside medical to get a bandage for a small cut on her finger. Was told she needed to make an appointment and pay the doctor for his time to get one. I took the young lady to my stateroom and gave her 2 small bandage. If you have any questions would be happy to answer and for those people who did not like my opinion in this review keep in mind they are mine and not directed to anyone in particular.
  8. Lol well this certainly is an interesting thread. I will be on the Prima Feb 5th sailing and we are dissappointed that the Beef Wellington is gone, as well as Noise Boys but will judge this cruise as I have any other after it is over. We have cruised with Princess many times and last year on a 16 day cruise we had Lobster Tails, Beef Wellington on 2 dress up nights during the cruise. Have cruised many times with NCL without these features. All cruise lines are in the same situation as a lot of other business in the hospitality industry. We seasoned cruisers will miss what we use to have but new cruisers will not know the difference. I believe every business has to be concerned about their bottom line or they will not stay in business and we the people have the choice to stay with them or explore other avenues. That is the great to have people . The Choice is yours. Just a note to Bird Travels. I so love the time you take to do live reviews. They are so helpful.
  9. Not only NCL, things happen with all the cruiselines. Only once did I book air with a cruiseline and realized that you do not have total control of the booking . Would never do it again. Would not stop me from cruising with that cruiseline again as most of the air from cruiselines is a seperate identity within the company. Other people have had good luck using travel agents and putting their travel plans in the hands of others and lettlng them do all the work for you and when things go wrong you sometimes wonder what I could have done to avoid this. You will certainly be a little more cautious on your next cruise.
  10. First time out of Port Canaveral with NCL. Can anyone tell me are there plenty of taxis available after a cruise to take to Orlando Airport. We have an earlier flight.
  11. Have taken water and soda on all my Princess Cruises. Have put luggage tags on them directly or have put them in a soft duffle bag and attached luggage tag and they have always got to my stateroom.
  12. You need to relax a bit. I was not stating a fact only news bulletin I had read on line and in the press. Was trying to ease the stress level of the original OP as she may be worrying about something for nothing. Todays news bulletin (not fact) Prime Minister Trudeau considers not extending Vaccination Policy and Arrive Can as it is set to expire September 30th.
  13. Sorry I did not keep the number. But I believe I got it off a cruise critic board. Also google Brooklyn taxi and car service and names will come up.
  14. We self disembarked. Brooklyn is not like Fort Lauderdale or Miami Cruise ports where you go outside and there are 100 cabs waiting. There were limos and private cars, waiting for people who had reserved them. I called what I thought was a taxi outside the terminal and it ended up being a black car.( private company) to take us to the airport. My advice is arrange transportation ahead of time if you have early flights.
  15. Canadian News Bulletin Arrive Can App will be optional the end of September and also No Vaccination required to enter Canada . Most cruise lines only require a covid test if it is over a certain # of days . Don't worry about something now that will probably not be required for your future cruise.
  16. I am a Canadian and just heard on the news the Arrive Can app is going to be optional to do .( Not sure who would even bother with it). Also vaccinations will not be mandatory to enter Canada. Hopefully this will ease some of the total craziness at our airports. Perhaps it is to do with the MLB playoffs. Who knows.
  17. Have cruised with Princess over 8 times and have to say this was my least favourite cruise. Absolutely nothing wrong with the ship. Dining Room food was fabulous, service as well. That was the excellent. The Good - entertainment. Production shows very good, single entertainers ok. Itinerary - New York was great, Halifax was very good, Sydney (cabot trail) ok , Greenland missed first port Nuuk, 2nd and 3rd port fair , Newfoundland very good. Had 4 days day and night of heavy fog from Halifax to Greenland and another day leaving Greenland to Newfoundland. 1 day of very rough seas. Unless you are into geography or Inuit history there was very little to see on Greenland. The icebergs around the island were very interesting but seen no wildlife at all. Talked to people who went on excursions who seen non at all. We did see whales and dolphins and schools of Tuna on our way from Greenland to Newfoundland. We had 5 sea days with 40 degree temperatures and 3 more days of total cloud cool temps and without an enclosed pool or heated pools the upper decks were useless. You can only play so many Trivia games in the bars and Piazza. We did have 2 days after leaving New York and 2 days on return to New York that was sunny and warm. Please don't get me wrong I know we cannot control weather and what did I expect going to Greenland. Some people hit it lucky with the weather but we did not. Just want people to know it is always hit and miss on cruises however 16 days on the ship with over half of the days ugly weather was a little much. The other thing that really bothered me about Princess was their internet. Because I am Platinum I paid $100.00 for 16 days of internet on the ship. However there was no service for 6 days in Greenland waters which Princess is well aware of from the start of the cruise. Went to guest services and they admitted they know and will consider giving rebate for the 6 days but not likely to see this. I love cruising and will continue to do so but will do more research on weather and sea days so I don't make the same mistake twice.
  18. Would the wifi to use I message on the ship be free or do you have to buy?
  19. I am pretty sure you need internet or data to use IMessage.
  20. I have gone through this thread and have yet to see if Original Poster came back with a cabin number. We are sailing on The Caribbean Princess for 16 days in August. Have been on new ships and older. Each has good points and not so good. Just as some cruisers have great things to say about the Caribbean Princess and some cruisers not so good. Would never stop me from sailing on a particular ship if it was the itinerary i wanted. I judge a cruise and ship while i am on . A lot of times things happen and you need to handle it the best way you can. I try not to let it spoil my holiday. Now as for the Original Poster not coming back perhaps there was more or less to the story. I will do a review when we return from our cruise. I am looking forward to it as it is our first since covid .
  21. I can tell my airfare has not been paid as they have not ticketed my flights. If you go into modify your airfare and at the top you will see eticket. Click on and see if you have an eticket. If not your flights have not been paid. Thankyou all for your information. I would not care if it was 30 days out but leaving it until 10 days out is nerve racking. Lesson learned.
  22. Just some information for people who have booked through the casino. DO NOT pay them for your EZ air . I paid the casino my money for my EZ air in April and I am 26 days out for my cruise and the casino has not and will not forward the funds to EZ air until 2 weeks out. MIstake on my part should have sent money directly to EZ air. I have contacted Princess and EZ air and they can do nothing as the booking was done through the casino even though it appears it is through Princess. This is so stressful but lesson learned. (Normally would have booked directly with airlines but because of covid, EZ air had book with confidence cancellation policy) .As this is now over will never book with 3rd party again as you have absolutely no control.
  23. This is our first time taking a totally comped cruise through the Princess Casino dept. We have used their 35% Casino discounts in the past and have been on other cruise lines casino discount cruises man times. We are 28 days out and am trying to book our seats with Air Canada for flights and cannot because EZ air has not paid for flights because the Casino has not paid EZ air for the flights or cruise. I paid the Casino in April for our flights and have enquired a number of times this last month when they were going to forward the money for the airfare and cruise. Some people on Cruise Critic say they pay when final payment is due some say 45 days out and some say 30 days. I have emailed Casino dept 3 times in 2 weeks. Finally talked to someone there a week and half ago who said they would expedite it. Today still not done. I have been told when talking to Princess reps that Princess and EZ air cannot do anything until Casino pays the money. I am not sure why Princess cannot hold these outside divisions accountable. I am Platinum with Princess and can say that I have never gone through such poor customer service on all levels. I do understand that covid has caused a lot of stress on Companies but are they going to keep blaming covid for years to come for their lack of customer service. Anyway done venting. Has anyone gone through this grief with the casino dept . ty Arlene
