  1. And as I said earlier, I don't consider myself a veteran either but I was curious about what Celebrity considered a vet. I have great respect for those who were able to and did serve. My service time was during the late 60s and we all know how crazy it was then. I did not run off to Canada, I did not get my doctor to write fake letters, he just wrote about my injuries and my recovery efforts and the enduring damage. I did what I could do to fulfill my service requirement but when you are diagosed with an arthritic knee at the age of 23 you have to admit there are things you just can't do.
  2. We are booked to go to Bermuda in July on the Summit. First cruise since the pandemic so I know there are lots of changes in the way things are done now. We are booked in a V2 and we have friends we are traveling with also booked in a V2. All of us a CC Elite. Today I got a Move Up offer from Celebrity. My friends did not get one yet but if they do, is there a way to link our offers? Just looking to move up to Aqua. My question, assuming the friends get the same offer, is there a way to link our bids so that we either both get move up or we both don't? Our reservations are already linked. Is it possible to do? Thanks in advance
  3. Thanks for that info Markeb. I always thought that the DD 214 was just a copy of your service record. Now I know why I did not get one when I applied. The military can be strange. My civilian doc was shocked that I passed a physical after two open surgeries and a complete femur fracture just above the same knee. The last army doc I sat in front of told me he would put me on a no running, no jumping profile. I replied very honestly that I had not even been to basic yet so how could I get through that with no running and no jumping? his answer, "hey I am a reservist just like you, 1St Army will review this and make the final call. That call came a few weeks later when some major called me at home to tell me to report for one more physical so I could officially be discharged. To all of you who did serve, you have my thanks and admiration. My brief time showed me just how hard it can be to be a real soldier.
  4. I have my Honorable Discharge certificate but I did not get a DD214 for me since I had zero days of active duty and just 12 days of weekend reserve meetings and 14 days of summer camp. I did inquire about getting a DD214 and all then sent me were copies of paperwork.
  5. I did take the oath, I did sign an enlistment contract. I do have discharge orders and my Honorable Discharge papers so officially I am a veteran in the eyes of military. Lowes considers me a vet, Home Depot does not. The state of Nevada says I need 90 days of active duty to qualify for veterans' benefits with the DMV.....it really goes state my state, situation by situation. When I attend an event where they ask all veterans to stand and be recognized and honored, I never stand because I would consider it an affront to those who really served. The only question I was asking here is where do I stand with Celebrity.
  6. No VA benefits. Had I actually gone to basic I would have been eligible but I enlisted for a highly specialized MOS with only one school in the country so I went to meeting and went to summer camp where the knee said no more and after a few more physicals the army agreed. My orders for basic and AIT came through 2 weeks after they started my discharge process.
  7. Here in NV I cannot get veterans status added to my real ID because they require 90 days of active duty because you also get a discount on your annual registration. As I said before, I applied for a DD214 and all I got was the paperwork. Since I never made it to basic let alone AIT there is nothing to put on a DD214. "He showed up, his knew blew up and we sent him home before we had to pay him"? Oh, they did try to draft me again after I was discharged. That was a lot of fun sorting it out with the draft board....
  8. While we are on the topic of military discounts I have a related question. What kind of documentation do they require? My service time was cut very short when old knee injuries flared up again and I was given a medical discharge. I was in the Army reserves and never saw a day of active duty, just some monthly meetings and 2 weeks of summer camp so when I asked about getting a DD214 all they sent me were copies of my enlistment contract, discharge orders and my Honorable Discharge. I have never asked about this discount in the past but now you have me wondering....
  9. It is important to tell them at the time of booking because the "rules" say it has to be done then or you don't get it.... and yes, it is automatically assigned to the TA who booked your current reservation but you can change that within 60 days after it is booked. Just need to file some paperwork with Celebrity.
  10. We have always used a TA for our cruises. With our first post COIVD cruise coming up we are trying a new TA that was recommended by a good friend. Paid the $500 deposit a few months ago and the TA had set the final payment date for 100 days out rather than Celebrity's 90 days. As that date approached I asked the TA why so early and his reply was "to give us some wiggle room at the end. If you need it moved back a couple of days just ask" So I asked because pushing it from a Friday to a Monday put me into a new billing cycle. Sadly when the payment went through it showed a cruise price of over $6000l rather than our booked price of under $2500. Quick email to the TA direct to the agent we used and within 15 minutes he CALLED me to apologize and say Celebrity was expediting my refund for the difference. Now it is a week later and I am still looking for my refund but I sure am glad this error went into a new billing cycle.....and yes, I always take copies of all of my paperwork with me.
  11. Too late for that game. I sent an email to the TA within minutes of seeing including pdfs of the charge and the original invoice. He called me within 15 minutes with apologies and a promise that tge refund was being explicated by X. He also added a bit of extra OBCfrom the agency. Now it is wait and see when tge refund. Thankfully the TA was very good about not even submitting the payment to X until I was in a new billing cycle so now it is a waiting game.
  12. People here have been saying that for years and it is still terrible.
  13. Thanks for posting... now I know I need to write to LL-P next week about my missing refund from Celebrity's billing error for my up coming cruise in July.
  14. ROBC from your TA typically does not show up before you are onboard. That means you cannot use for advance purchases but if you don't use it during the cruise it is refunded to you.. a little double edge sword on this stuff.
  15. Yes, ask and yes check their math......
  16. Years ago we were on a Med cruise with a big group. It was never a problem. They did their thing, we did our thing. They were some kind of self-help group and were really very nice people. Occasionally a lounge was closed to the public for one of their special events but it was fine. Just go and enjoy yourselves.
  17. Thanks for the reminder. With this trip I don't see the need for us to have two devices. We are both long retired, don't really need to spend a lot of time online so sharing in the past has never been an issue. It is all about personal needs and choices. Oh, Go Navy!!! Beat Army!!!.
  18. Thanks everyone. I knew that in the past you could share a single log in and done any number of times but with all of the new "deals" I wasn't sure what the rules were or how to get the added discount. I did end up talking a Captains Club rep this afternoon and she confirmed it all for me. Now I just need to decide on what package I want/need and make my purchase. Of course her math was off by about $10 on the package from what I am seeing in the cruise planner.....details, details.
  19. I know this has been discussed but the search function does not find it so I need to ask again now that we are finally booked on a cruise for the first time since COVID... We are both CC Elite, that gives us the option of 90 free minutes each or a 30% discount on a package, correct? If we want to pre-purchase the package to get the advance purchase discount can we still get the the 30% discount on top of that? If so, how do I do it? Finally, do we both have to purchase wifi packages or can we buy one and just share it, one device at a time? Since we are going to Bermuda from Bayonne it means a lot of sea days so I know 90 minutes each is not enough. Thanks in advance for your advice.
  20. Another wifi question, We are Captains Club Elite so we are supposed to get a 30% discount on wifi packages. Is that 30% off for the pre cruise sale price if I book it now? If so, how do I do it to get the discount? Is a call to the Captains Club in my future or can I do it online?
  21. Thanks for the quick replies. So much has changed in 5 years I figured the good people here would have current knowledge.
  22. It has been a while since we set foot on a ship but we are booked for Bermuda in July and are wondering what Captains Club Elite benefit for Wi-Fi is today. Don’t need streaming. Really just some basic with 3 sea days
  23. It would close at best. Just because the ship docks at 6am does not mean you will be allowed off the ship that early. If you are going to try a private transfer is a must AND plan to take your own luggage off of the ship. If you leave out overnight for Celebrity to take it off you will lose a lot of time getting started.
