  1. We have done the slant and really liked it because it gives us more shade and is closer to stairs and elvators. The SV sounds appealing but between the lack of shade and the long walk we will stick with the slant/hump
  2. If you do decided to bring it, make sure it stays on the ship. Every country has its own rules and you don't want to suddelnly find yourseles confronted while off the ship.
  3. Wow, this is still a problem. We had the problem about 6-7 years ago when traveling with a British cousin. We had booked in the US with USD and she had booked in London with GBP and we could not book dinners together so we did what others suggested. Booked the same time for all 3 of us and went right to the M'D as soon as we were on the ship and he solved it for us. Celebrity's IT still sucks I guess.
  4. We were on a cruise with the AH people pre-pandemic and it was not a problem. Sometimes they had a venue reserved for their meetings etc but it was never an issue. Since we rarely book ship's tours I have no idea about them clogging up those tours. As Georgia Peaches said, they are pretty nice people and are happy to stick to themselves.
  5. Keep in mind that we have never been on an E-class ship but I would keep the SV and spend some of the extra money you are saving on specialty dining. The whole IV idea does not appeal to me. I really love being able to go outside on my own veranda any time I want.
  6. My experience with these refunds is about a week.
  7. So who in Miami went to Syracuse U????
  8. Last time I asked at guest services and was basically told "too bad". I will check with the iLounge staff in January when we board, before we activate a plan. Last time the July 4th sale made buyping a package cheaper than using the Elite discount so lets see what Black Friday and Christmas sales bring.
  9. Some of us are reacting to our loyalty benefits being watered down but as others have said, everyone is selling those benefits now. I looked at our Jan trip on the Beyond and I see nothing at all about an X pass. No biggie. We don't drink so the whole bev package thing means noting to us. We are good with sharing one device of wifi plus we get 90 minutes on the other account since we are both elite...even though we should both get the minutes once you activate a pre-purchased package it kills the free minutes whether or not you used the loyalty benefit..... We are just gonna go and have a good time and relax in the Caribbean for 10 days. I like to use the KISS system on these trips.
  10. Yeah, everytime I see one of these cash grabs I think the same thing. We have a 10night southern caribbean in January and Greenland/Iceland in August and if the experience is anything like what I am reading about on these threads it will be time to move on. Even thinking of canceling the Greenland/Iceland before final payment and just flying to Iceland for a week.
  11. Contact the Captains Club. They have a process. They will like want your boarding card and your invoice as documentation.
  12. I am guessing it was something I posted in the thread about X execs taking a trip on one of their ships to see how things really were.. anyway, what I was trying to say is that pre-pandemic we had an Iceland cruise booked out of Ireland and it got canceled. Since the pandemic we have been hesitant to go back to Europe so when X started offering cruises that start and end in the US ( Cape Liberty NJ or Boston) and go to Iceland it was something I did not want to miss and booked long ago. So, to my knowledge you cannot get a cruise that included Ireland and Iceland without flying to Europe......
  13. With all of the negative feed back here and in other places too why would they even need to "go and see"? Right now their ships are pretty full. We are on the Beyond in January and it is too late to cancel and then the Eclipse in August for a trip to Iceland and Greenland that does not require us to go to Europe to start/finish so I would hate to cancel it but right now I would not book anything else with Celebrity. We were on the Summit in July and all was good, other than the one tiny lobster tail dinner....but it sure sounds like things have gone south since then.
  14. I cannot address 1 and 2, but they really should just get the app, it is not hard to use and it makes life much easier, especially checking in. The menus are paper in the MDR There is a daily activities flyer that is left in their cabin each day, either on the desk or on the bed. You can also get it at guest relations, There are no ice cream machines in the Oceanview Cafe but there is a great ice cream bar that is usually open from about 11am on into the night, Really good ice cream. If there is a gelato bar on board, skip it, it is not that good and it costs extra. I have never had to book a show. It has always been just show up. They do block out seats for suite guests but we have always found seats. Celebrity it a bit quieter with a more refined feel than Royal. Fewer kids, fewer party types. If your parents have Diamond status or above they need to tell Celebrity so they can get matching status on this cruise at the Elite level.
  15. Best way to find out is to log in to your account and look. You would think there would be email notices or ads here but for our last cruise I found a July 4 sale only when I went in and looked. Saved big on Wifi packages.
  16. We did our last Med cruise prep-pandemic so it has been a while but the rule then was if the ship stopped in at least one non-EU port then they did not have to charge the VAT but if the cruise was all EU ports then VAT was charged, and the duty free alcohol and tobacco shop was never open. IF the VAT was being charged you could apply for a refund as you left the EU IF you were taking goods with you. VAT paid for consumables and items you were not taking with you were not refundable. Is that still the rule today? Something to look up....
  17. Captains Club points are only valuable for gaining status levels. They cannot be redemed for travel etc so they have no value and I seriously doubt they would transfer to anyone. Totally different from airline award points.
  18. We have done it in a number of places, just bring some clear packing tape and tape a label or two on to the case, both top and side. Yes, a nice tip does help the water get there.
  19. You are right, it won't help with the excursion issue BUT if you are getting nowhere with the merchant getting the credit card company involved will get their attention, especially if they keep adding on charges.
  20. Assuming you booked everything with Celebrity and not a TA you need to contact your credit card company and dispute the charges etc. If you have proof that you paid Celebrity let the credit card company be your agent in this mess. If you are using a TA, contact them immediately. When I had them, the TA, process the payment for our Bermuda cruise last July the charge came in at nearly twice what was due. I called the TA and within minutes they were working to fix it and threw in some extra OBC for the mistake.
  21. We were on the Summit in July, our first cruise since the pandemic and we found it very nice. Ate in the MDR most nights and the choices were fine, the portions were fine and the service was great. The disclaimer, we both have food issues, some allergies, some health restrictions that limit our choices but we always found something to enjoy each night. Lunches in the OVC were nice too. Nothing outstanding but always lots of choices. This was our 11th trip with Celebrity and we just did not see a huge difference, other than the dumb deal on lobster night when a second portion was $17.....and our waiter said "just order a second, different entree....I opted for the shrimp cocktail and some how it showed up with 8 pieces rather than the normal 4. Funny how those things happen.
  22. They will usually stack it with the normal pre-cruise discount but I found that watching for the flash sales gave me a better deal than the stacking deal.
  23. This has been the case for a while. I tried it for our Bermuda cruise last July and it was no go. In the end I got a "deal" on the July 4 flash sale that beat by CC Elite discount so what this the real value of the CC Elite benefit?
  24. On our July cruise to Bermuda we bought one premium wifi package to share but since we are both elite we should also get 90 minutes free....I used my wife's free 90 minutes while she used the purchased package that was in my name. Once the 90 minutes were gone I tried to use my own 90 minutes only to be told that once you activate the purchashed package the 90 minutes is voided. That would be all well and good IF ihad used the Captains Club discount but the July 4 sale was cheaper so I did not use the CC benefit.....so my question is how can I manage to have one of us use all 180 "free" minutes and the other use the unlimited package? If I buy a package during one of the sales and cannot use the CC discount too isn't that a bit unfair?
  25. Food is so subjective. We were on the Summit in July for a wonderful trip down to Bermuda. We were in the MDR and found the food to be fine and the service was great. We are not foodies at all but we enjoyed every meal. We did one dinner in the Tuscan Grill and a lot of lunches in the OVC and it was all good. The Bermuda trip, our second one, was so nice we booked August 2024 on the the Eclipse for NJ to Iceland. Looking forward to hearing more about the OPs adventures on their cruise
