  1. I tried it on Beyond in January and it would not take. Others have said here that you can book in the planner and then get onboard and find nothing. Hope yours work out. For us it was simple to just to the the desk a day or two ahead and ask them to make a reservation for us. It just would not work online for me.
  2. You should be able to book your dining times in the cruise planner. You can do it on M and S class ships. You cannot do it on the newer E class ships. Since the Connie is an M Class you are good to go. Just find the dining tab in your cruise planner and scroll down.
  3. Celebrity Air is just a travel agent. If you book with almost any airline via a travel agent then the agent has control of the booking, not the airline so they cannot make a change. Same thing goes for a cruise booking. Book with a TA and they have control of the reservation, you cannot to go Celebrity with any change requests or problems.
  4. We never found the seats anywhere in Eden to be comfortable. They all seemed too low. Maybe too low for us older folks? It is pretty but after two attempts we gave up.
  5. There was no fight. As soon as we boarded we went to one of the specialty desks to book and found nothing that worked for us on any day so we went to guest relations. They made a call and confirmed it an issued the refund.
  6. and you might not. The one time we tried it we were shut out from anything we wanted and simply asked for a refund. Things always change, plans always change so go and ask because if you don't ask, the answer is always no.
  7. The last Celebrity sailing this year out of Bayonne is August 4 when the Eclipse leaves for Iceland and then on to Boston to do New England and Canada fall sailings.
  8. The whole insurance thing is pretty overwhelming because there are so many options, so many ins and outs, exclusions, waivers etc. I agree that talking to them directly is the best way. I just email them with what I am thinking about and they quickly come back with some options.
  9. On an Alaska cruise we got not one but two cakes for her birthday...of course her birthday was the week after the cruise......so no idea how the staff knew. Oh, we gave the second cake to the family in the cabin next door since the DR staff delivered that one to our cabin. Their kids enjoyed it.
  10. Check with Steve and his staff a the trip insurance store. They know their stuff. https://tripinsurancestore.com/
  11. The draw back to Celebrity's messaging system on their app is there is no notification tone so unless you are really watching the app you won't know you have a message. There is a visual alert but it is pretty small.
  12. No clue on those things. Never bought them, just bought a soda and water from time to time.
  13. On our recent Beyond cruise a soda or a bottle of water was about 5 bucks. You can used that to do the math. In the OVC you can get ice tea, lemonade, fruit punch, apple juice etc for free most anytime. Unless your kids want Mocktains I don't see the value in the package but that is me.
  14. It is a one class upgrade, not a full catagory. If you book a veranda, say a V3 you can ask for an upgrade to a V2. You cannot book a Veranda V1 and ask to upgrade to a Concierge C3. As SFCAcruiser said, you can't upgrade from a GTY in any catagory, that is part of the GTY game.
  15. I believe that the train reservations open about 90 days out for the public. When we went we just booked out tickets the day booking opened. We saw the same sights and it was easy to just walk over. The waffle breakfast sounds like fun but that is a lot of money for waffles..... OP could alway book the ship's excursion as a back up and then book directly when booking opens. If they get the private tickets, just cancel the ship tickets.
  16. They will ask for one when you check in online but as NutsAboutGolf said, it easy to go to guest relations and change it. I had to do it last summer when the card I used to check in got hacked and was canceled and re-issued with a new number.
  17. I understand that, I just don't want to see it become the norm. When leaving the ship we now do the express walk off. It is easier without any inspections and you are going down hill for the most part. We started doing after one bag "vanished" in San Juan one day. It did show up about 20 minutes later when the one who thought it was his realized it was not but....shore staff was less than helpful so now we just roll it all off.
  18. Not a great way to make friends. I would not be a happy camper if I was standing online behind some people who had the bright idea to just carry on all of their oversized luggage. The whole boarding process is annoying enough now so why make it worse? Bring what fits in the scanners and yes, you can now take it right to your cabin and drop it. SeaPass cards etc are on the door of your cabin, they are not handed out prior to boarding anymore in most places
  19. The big question is will your luggage fit through the X-ray machines? Every thing has to be scanned. Checked or not.
  20. We stayed in one on Beyond in January. The "noise" from the lounge was not an issue but there were a few night were it sounded like they were trying to rebuild LeGrand, the restaurant above us. You could hear the music from the lounge out in the hallway but never in the cabin.
  21. Stem to Stern, my current booking went up after we booked and now it is way down. It is always a good idea to keep checking these things. You just never know.
  22. The change fee is $100 per person, not per reservation. We just did it last month so we can be at out granddaughter's 10th birthday......The pricing etc will change but you don't lose your deposit. If you used a TA call them, if you booked direct, call Celebrity.
  23. The whole cruise world has gotten crazy from what I see. Our upcoming Iceland cruise has dropped dramaticly in price, likely due to the volcanic activity in Iceland. A few weeks ago I had to change the cruise date so I had to pay $200 change fee but the cruise price went down $2000. Nice. Last week I checked the pricing again and it was down another thousand so I emailed my TA with an apology and asked for a repricing. Within a few hours it was done. Total cost is now down over 50%. Celebrity OBC is pretty much the same but the OBC from the TA went down because it is based on their commission that has gone way down. All it all a big win for us so it does pay to price watch and ask, especially before final payment.
  24. Are your reservations linked? If they are it would show all 6 names and have you choose who you are booking for each night. Just a thought.
  25. Without St. Petersburg I would pick Iceland BUT that is biased because I just found the other cities interesting but not stunning. We also did a cruise through the fjords of Norway out of Southamption and that scenery was just stunning. Iceland has been on my list for a long time. We were supposed to go in 2020 but that did not happen and now I can go without flying all of the way to Europe. Bottom line is they are are good so get out your coin....
