  1. That'll be us in a few weeks. In Botswana. After petting the cheetahs!
  2. From the article that I read, there was a problem with an engine which occurred on the last night of the previous cruise. Two tugs were dispatched to assist the ship to Piraeus. The issue must be fixed, as this cruise seems to be progressing normally. Here is an article: https://crew-center.com/silver-spirit-safely-towed-piraeus-after-engine-problems?fbclid=IwAR3kr8W6OvHFQFipUMGp3HEyEA0tHDdZfrgnmFMK2gk_ZRTyl8EsikkVIX8 and another: https://www.ekathimerini.com/news/1222822/cruise-ship-towed-to-piraeus-port-after-mechanical-issue/ Glad that all is well and we can continue to enjoy updates from on board!
  3. We finally tried a "big" ship (Silver Spirit) 2 years ago, after many Cloud and Wind cruises, and we were surprised how much we liked it. Hope that your experience on board is as fun as ours was. I didn't realize there was a train from the airport to Piraeus! Last time (probably 10 years ago) we just took the airport bus to the port. Good to know for future reference. Thanks!
  4. I've always just received text messages fine using the ship's WiFi; I put the phone in airplane mode first to prevent it from connecting to the onboard cellular network first. Is there another way to do it?
  5. Do you mean they would not permit a donation to the crew fund at all? Or just that you could not make the donation using your onboard account?
  6. Absolutely correct. I remember at least one wet landing during our Iceland voyage in 2019. Boots were definitely necessary for that.
  7. Ron, must be something squirrely with the CC website. None of today's pictures are showing up for me. Have tried two different browsers and also my phone but only the filenames show up in your posts. Hope the pix show up soon!
  8. OK. I'm having Surf&Turf please. One filet, and one fish and chips!
  9. Me too. Maybe if I can get them on my phone I can figure out a way to save them digitally. 🤔
  10. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Rojaan!
  11. Happy Thanksgiving to our dear neighboUrs in the Great White North!
  12. Looking good Ron! It fits you well.
  13. Good to know. We'll be back in March so we'll grab some before we head out to the Açores to celebrate my birthday week!
  14. Yes - the suspense is killing us. It is a tough task to keep up with a "Live From" thread though. Looking forward to the rest of the story.
  15. M, I have seen this one earlier and it's spot on.
  16. Yeah, it's nuts. I'm looking at flights for our Kimberley cruise next June. They are making my AMEX melt just looking! Europe flights are still reasonable at times. I did find a decent fare to Paris for Christmas, and to Lisbon in March. But still more expensive than they were, even just a few years ago. And the most annoying part is that once you buy the tickets, the itinerary invariably changes - sometimes very significantly! That makes me cringe. On our very first cruise on SS Norway in 1992, we visited their "Private" island. Don't think we've ever repeated the experience.
  17. That's a reasonable start. I've found them true to size, much looser than a comparable shirt of the same size, and they allow for layers underneath (within reason!). If the size provided on board is not to your liking they will have a parka exchange early on - usually the first full day after boarding. Simply try yours on when you board (it will be waiting in your suite). If it doesn't fit to your liking, leave the tags attached to your parka, and exchange it for a new one in the size you'd like. I wouldn't hold my breath. Just go online and order yours. Here is the website: https://silversea.shiptoshoretraveler.com/parkaorder1
  18. Have a fantastic trip! Looking forward to your updates. I'm sure Silver will leave the Dawn in perfect shape for you to enjoy.
  19. Looks fantastic! And perfectly done. I bet the wasabi added a nice kick. Oh now... Try it, you'll like it! You just have to be quick with your fork so it doesn't run away.
  20. Yes, less than an hour north of us. We've been hiking there. Glad that they found her.
  21. Probably Aimée. I may have had a truffle stuck in my ear when he said her name! We were on Uniworld, SS Catherine, March 2015.
  22. That excursion was a lot of fun! Truffle sniffing... So you know what you're looking for! Our farmer Serge laments the big truffle that got away... And Evée, the "Lamborghini of truffle hunting" AKA a Lagotto Romagnolo. The pigs can't be trusted to not eat the truffles. Have fun!
  23. I'm waiting for the version with your tasting notes.
