  1. Not sure how that works since a waiter team only has so many Private and Sharing tables. Seems like one might be bouncing back and forth. It should NOT be this way. I'd have gone up the ladder and had a conversation about what they are doing or not doing and why. And why not working with guests like other ships. Not good.
  2. It depends on what you like and sometimes the bartender. A lot of folks like to try the Good Spirits menu - like all of it if on the Plus package where drinks are included.
  3. Yes, but you don't have these sort of expanded features like you have in US. Just various discounts for senior-related things like insurance, reverse mortgages, movers, and a host of other services. It is CARP here (as equivalent to AARP), but I don't belong. I prefer the Canadian Snowbird Association. You also have another association down there - AMAC. But I think these reward gift cards at 10% off are only with AARP Rewards.
  4. Point made, but I would hardly compare the DR's to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. 😉
  5. Now I understand more. The baby was not allowed on board by age.
  6. Coming back to this thread topic, I am a little confused as to why there was a problem in the first place. At this URL -- https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/onboard-experience/kids-and-teens/ -- on Princess website, it states the following: Making Our Youngest Voyagers Feel Right at Home Princess welcomes babies, toddlers and preschoolers to the world of cruising with services and amenities that make life easier for their families as well. These young guests are welcome in Camp Discovery when accompanied by a parent. Mini-Suites and Full Suites offer full-sized bath tubs, and wash bins for showers are available. Staterooms with balconies are perfect for naptime. You can request high chairs, booster seats and cribs. We also provide complimentary jarred baby food. And fresh, pureed foods (fruits, veggies and rice) are available in the main dining room, specialty restaurants, and Horizon Court or World Fresh Marketplace. ETA: So, I examined the general Passage Contract and here is the relevant section: 5. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS; DRINKING; TOBACCO; GAMING; ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. The minimum Guest age to sail is 6 months at the time of embarkation in order to sail. On all other cruises where there are more than 2 consecutive sea days, the minimum Guest age is 12 months at the time of embarkation in order to sail. No Guest under 21 years of age is permitted to book a cruise, and any Guest under 21 years of age must travel in a stateroom with a Guest 21 years or older who shall assume responsibility for their care during the cruise. For family groups booking multiple staterooms, the minimum age for at least one person in each stateroom is 16 years of age, provided they are traveling with a parent or legal guardian. Of course, the last line is often broken when parents have two kids next door or across the hall. At least unofficially. I was not aware there was a minimum age difference for extended days at sea. But then I never needed to be aware either.
  7. Okay. I understand where you are coming from. What you have reproduced are the specific Reward terms (for the Princess Gift Cards), which AARP Rewards has provided pretty much verbatim from the Princess Gift Card website (as though buying from them directly). The actual AARP Rewards Terms and Conditions here: https://www.aarp.org/about-aarp/rewards-terms-and-conditions/ clearly indicate AARP Rewards program is only for US residents. But they seem to lock it up like military secret since providing a US mailing address and a credit card with US billing address is insufficient to get a purchase to work.
  8. I USED to make it to Sanctuary when we were Platinum, because I made sure I was the first Platinum on board. Left wife with bags and took off. I could beat a lot of the Elites/Suites up there due to speed and knowing exactly where I was going. Even though high demand back then, there was more space on the older ships. One time, even doing this, pickings with shade were slim and I couldn't really get what I wanted due to B2B'ers. But then I was a B2B for the next leg and got exactly what I wanted for that voyage. Now as Elite, I can be the first one up there if I want, but still cannot get ahead of anyone on a B2B. I am less interested in Sanctuary on the new ships now since so little shade. One of the posts above indicates it is even worse on the newest ships because they are taking up floor space with other frills and of course they want to sell the super-expensive cabanas which I have often observed not being used much. Last time we used Sanctuary was in Nov 2019 for a Caribbean cruise. A 10-nighter and not part of a B2B. Managed to get a good spot on sea days and it was Crown. Our favorite Sanctuaries have been on Crown/Emerald/Ruby/Caribbean.
  9. I'd like to hear more on Princess' side of the story - like why they had to reverse course mid-voyage? Also, IDK why people are using a social media App owned by the CCP when they could have contacted PCL directly or posted on their Facebook page if they wanted more public to see it. They could have contacted Reuters or AP. You couldn't pay me to use Tik-Tok.
  10. VibeGuy below is bang on with the "no brainer". PCL's beverage packages including alcohol/wine that are still sold separately via Cruise Personalizer under Onboard Services are a waste of time and money. Just don't make sense at all. It would never make sense for one person in a cabin to buy the package just because the cabinmate doesn't drink. These are inflated packages for marketing purposes, IMO, to help justify/sell the fare packages. Here's another angle on the numbers. I am thinking you are at least Platinum CC Member and will get 50% off MedallionNet. ITEM YOU FRIEND YOU FRIEND PLUS (pd to PCL) $50 $50 N/A N/A CREW INCENT $ 0 $ 0 $16 $16 MED NET SINGLE DEV $ 0 $ 0 N/A N/A MED NET UPGRD 4 DEV N/A N/A $10 $ 0 BEVERAGES $ 0 $ 0 $71 $ 0 SUB-TOTAL PAID $50 $50 $97 $16 FRIEND OWES for MED-NET $ 5 PAYMENT TO FRIEND $29 $0 - $5 TOTAL OUTLAY $79 + $21 $92 + $21 With both of you on PLUS, combined cost is $100/day. With both of you buying what you want separately, combined cost is $113/day. The above assumes a single 4-device internet plan shared between you and friend. And I assume you get 50% off list price pre-cruise. If you don't have a discount, assess Friend $10/day. You could assess that much anyway if you so choose since that is what she would have to pay anyway. You could justify paying Friend as little as $24/day if her share is $26. If I was your Friend, I'd be paying you back for any bar drink I did happen to purchase. Technically, any charges for coffee, etc, up to $29/day should rebate back to you as I would be getting a free-ride for something I said I didn't want and would pay-as-I-go.
  11. Not the Cruise Tours. Problem is they did not allocate any rooms in those zones to the 14-night logical voyages. If you book the 7-nights as B2B's, then all the cabins are there. I should have thought of this back when I looked into other posts and posted my previous one.
  12. Hi. I appreciate you posting this information and tagging me. At this time, I do not need any Princess Gift Cards. When I was trying to purchase some before, the final step was always failing on my credit card (and I even tried with a friend's PC who has a US VPN). I do not want to risk doing a purchase and having it work as I will "own" at least one gift card. I did some poking around their website and recent information seems to indicate that Canadian residents cannot participate in AARP Rewards. IMO, I ought to be able to purchase cards using my US address and a US credit card. When I tried this before, I was stymied at every turn and spoke to them on the phone. Apparently, they had an IP address block and could detect I was not in USA (hence my effort to go around that with a US VPN). We will be in FL after Christmas and I could try it there, but I just don't need/want any GC's now as we have no immediate cruise plans. But a friend might. Would you mind telling where you have seen this information or announcement. I am looking for an official source that you saw since I cannot do a live purchase attempt. Thanks!
  13. There are a LOT of Bowl Games. Some will make MUTS. Yours has no other on at same time. I would venture it will at least be on screen(s) in the Casino. Not sure if cabin TV will have it. You might want to be prepared to stream it if you want audio.
  14. Unfortunately, the Play Store doesn't allow a rating < 1. Thankfully, not many Apps deserve that. Most Apps are placed in the Store and function well enough to warrant at least a 1. For a while now, I have given the App a 50% rating - that is still pretty poor for an App, but it does reflect an improvement from June 2021.
  15. It depends on your phone settings. My Samsung S10 updates almost all of my Apps automatically. If you are doing them manually, I would update any App since supposedly it is improved. Also, any support for an App is going to be based on you having the latest version.
  16. The electronic Texas Hold' Em table is open for cash play when the casino is open. $1/$2. Usually, they have one tournament on a Sea Day (maybe 10am?). Entry fee is usually $60. After that play, table turns over to cash play. The preceding applies to all ships. The new tables also have side games like BJ and Baccarat, but limited features. I did try the BJ and you can only split once since the display area is too small. Nonetheless, BJ pays 3:2 and you can play 1 or 2 spots and bet as little as $1. I played around at it a few times and won some bucks. I was upset though when I had A's and split and got A's again and couldn't split them as you can on a live table. Same thing happened to me another time when I was dealt 8's and got more 8 after splitting. PMO.
  17. Sure. We had plans to sail in the Mediterranean area - and even take a long voyage to Singapore via Suez Canal and Dubai (stopping over for the Expo 2020). Covid got in the way. We tried to book Pacific Princess in the Med for Fall 2021 and they sold it. We then booked four voyages in the Med area covering October and first half of November of 2022. This used up PCL Gift Cards, FCD's, and FCC's from the cancellations. We had a great time. I am not at all happy with what Princess has been doing since Covid. I do not like many of the decisions John Padgett has made. The MC App was a total utter failure of an IT system that caused me (and most others) no end of aggravation. I understand they had to lose staff during Covid and hard to get going again, but it has been very frustrating trying to deal with them and also for our TA to deal with them in regards to our bookings. This last set of voyages - it was great to be back at sea and travelling again, but we have other travel interests and I just don't choose to engage with cruising again right now, nor to dig into another line potentially. That said, I did book us 2 FCD's each (totally refundable), which gives us options down the road. I must say, I do have an interest in the new Sphere ship - simply for the experience of the ship. But we really have a number of land trips we want to do and so it seems a time to step back and see how Princess manages in the next year or two without me having to worry every day if something got screwed up with our reservation. My issues paled in comparison to what happened to our friends' bookings (sailed on all four with us).
  18. This one been covered many times. Most guests prefer either of the mid-ship DR's over the aft DR. That said, guests with aft cabins might prefer that one as a straight shot down the aft elevators.
  19. I am thinking there is a problem in the res system. No way all those cabins on all dates sold out 100% that fast. Either a bug/issue or PCL is holding back inventory for some reason. (I am not looking to book, but I was doing some shopping because another poster was complaining that the prices were way high).
  20. I am not surprised this voyage shows sold out on Princess.com. It went on sale some time back. As had been indicated, there are quite likely cabins out there, but not available on Princess.com at this time. Princess may be holding some back as well - not something we are privy to.
  21. Although we did not attend, there were a number of theme nights in the buffet on both Regal and Island in October/November per the Princess Patter. Indian, German, Italian - and one or two others I think. Have always seen these on Princess.
  22. And often, you may have a different staff member in a restaurant deliver you a course of a meal, a drink, a bottle of wine, that is someone other than your primary waiter. They are operating a team system in many places. I fully expect that when I add a tip to my check or when processing the self-serve CC payment, the amount is shared among multiple staff members. Not my business how they do it, but I do consider overall service and attitude in the process.
  23. Have they clarified or addressed outside USA shipping now that they are charging $10/booking? Seems to me they ought to be mailing to Canada and perhaps more for that new fee.
