  1. Princess used to assign top personnel for new major ship launches, so IDK why they wouldn't still do the same for Sun Princess next year. I imagine a lot of ship personnel will be hopeful to get assigned there. I imagine top DRO, Chef, Hotel Mgmt, CD/ED, etc, will go to that ship. Not to mention the two Captains. It is sad to see this happen. I wonder if it is similar with other lines. IIRC, our experience with older ships has been dated decor and not much they can do in cabins unless a complete do-over remodel.
  2. Not so fast IMO. Princess is hiring and paying for the services, so they ought to be setting minimum service level standards. And there generally is at least one PCL ship person down there supervising or whatever. This has been my observation. I have no experience with Vancouver port, but as far as North America goes, I have had nothing but respect for the ground crews in Port Everglades.
  3. That is a nice referral, but all should be aware that the waiters are rotated around periodically and do not work the same DR or section all the time.
  4. I wish someone would find out what exactly IT is doing to fix the access. Perhaps the phone reps don't even know. My impression is that PCL staff would see it as a big black box.
  5. Yes, it will be offered in the App once you are on board and connect to ship's INTRAnet via Wifi connection.
  6. Never attempt to add or link a booking to the App. It is very annoying that IT keeps this there as it has no function and doesn't work. IDK if they intended it for something - if so, it's a mystery. Your bookings with a deposit are automatically linked to the App after a day or two from creation in POLAR. If you cannot login to the App with UserId/Pswd, but you can login to Princess.com that way, then there is a data issue between the two systems that needs to be corrected. You could try a "Forgot Pswd" option in the App and see if that allows you to reset. UserId/Pswd should be the same for web version and App. If that doesn't work, do a password reset at Princess.com and see if that sync up with the App. Otherwise, you need to inform the tech team and they need to identify and fix whatever the data corruption issue is. The other way to sign in is for a specific voyage. You use Name, Birthdate, and Booking Number. This option exists for both web version and App. This should always work in both environments. If it doesn't then either booking not populated yet in App, or there is some sort of data issue.
  7. Listen to and follow the phone tree options to get to OCEAN Ready or DMW assistance.
  8. With no real CD options, does anyone know if guests on Island/Coral are getting a rebate of OBC if they are on Plus/Premier? Or, is Princess making some sort of CD experience out of something not done before in order to say they have something to offer?
  9. Jimmy stated that the voyage was three straight sea days. There are no port stops.
  10. They can switch things up from one voyage to the next. Seen it happen. You can ask a DR Mgr to view all the DR menus for the week.
  11. Members often post them on "Live From" cruise reports. Take a look at those.
  12. Platinum & Elite can book as soon as a deposit is made. Everyone else can book as soon as they make Final Payment. Reports on here indicate that at least some of the folks on some/many voyages are able to book dining long before FP Date even though they shouldn't be able to. Attempting to book less than a month from sail date would result in most desirable times/tables being booked I should think. Doesn't mean walk-ups cannot get a table. As a walk-up it is much quicker to get a table if you are willing to share with other guests.
  13. You are misunderstanding my post. First, the absence of a DR from DMW pre-cruise does NOT mean you cannot eat there. Alsa, DR personnel may suggest a guest go to a specific DR if the guest is a walk-up because the wait will be shorter. Up to you. The DR's all have same menu.
  14. So, Plus/Premier fare packages have nothing to do with flexible dining. Only guests in Suites and Reserve Class Mini's get any special treatment in the MDR's. You are less than a month from sailing. So, I can easily imagine that best choices for dinner are long gone. Next time, I'd look into it sooner. IDK if you can tell from your searches, but a somewhat common practice seems to be for Princess to setup only 2 of the 3 DR's in the App for booking. This leaves opportunity to book on board, arrange a table with DR Mgmt or DR Host, or have room for walk-ups. You can be a walk-up and they may suggest the best DR for that (one with fewest reservations).
  15. They banned Covid discussions which were interesting at times. If we could just frame a dress code discussion as politics and sell that to TPTB, they would be banned for sure. 😁
  16. They used to be I suppose, but now it's just the same old, same old.
  17. Wish they would train more troupes and have newer shows get onto the older ships instead of 10+ year old shows.
  18. I hope people are commenting on Princess surveys about the often ridiculous amplified volume of entertainment placed in the Piazza where sound just booms all over the Atrium and makes it difficult to relax in peace and have a conversation. Loud music is fine, but it has its places and the Atrium should not have become a concert hall.
  19. Threads like this are unfortunate because the premise of the thread title (suggesting the breakfast was taken away) is quickly debunked and yet the title remains as it was causing additional unnecessary consternation with some members.
  20. Welcome to Cruise Critic and to Princess. I have never had a text from Princess nor another associated party to solicit information. I do receive marketing emails from Princess as well as other "suggestions" if I have a booking. Hope you enjoy the cruise because the crew is wonderful and the on-board experience is great. Unfortunately, the App tends to leave a a sour taste before you get on the ship. It is much better there.
  21. I figured something like that so I created one on your behalf!
  22. But they cannot just charge a cover by default as in a SD. This is because there is a menu with a la carte choices.
  23. Questions we don't really know the answers to. I am sure the waiters would just love being the food police! NOT
