  1. I’m going to test it out too on our November cruise. Nice stocking stuffer for our son and DIL if I can.
  2. I’m assuming they ran into issues with other people buying them for family or friends. I seem to recall you just needed their names etc and Mariner numbers. Our son and DIL forgot they had them during the pandemic (and couldn’t cruise) and then suddenly noticed a credit on their credit card. They would have preferred keeping them with HAL but too late.
  3. Thank you @Crew News I’m happy to see my Bailey’s & Kahlua on the under $11.
  4. I can’t answer your question but we are on the same cruise. It’s our first time with the HIA. I think @Crew News has posted the menus before but I’m not savvy enough to find them for you but hope he will see this. Thanks @kazu we posted at same time.
  5. That’s a shame-I’m sure a few years ago they allowed it. I was wanting to buy one on our next cruise for our son & DIL.
  6. I guess I lucked out. I emailed my proof mid June for 2 upcoming cruises and had the confirmation back within 20 minutes for both.
  7. If you remember when you’re back, let me know what you did and how it went. We are heading to the ABC Islands on a cruise in November but friends are coming so doing ship excursions in Aruba & Curacao as they’ve never been before. Have a wonderful time!
  8. @TeamCan i was just reminded that we have also used Irie Tours in Curacao which we pre-booked. They’ve got different excursions which you may find one you like. https://www.irietours.com/wonders-of-curacao-caves-turtles-beaches/ I think this is the one we did but have a look at others you might want. The snorkel with the turtles was our highlight.
  9. We love Curacao and always try to pick an itinerary that includes it. Renting a car is a great idea as you’ll get a lot of sites in. (We were there one year on a cruise just before Christmas-their decorations were so beautiful).
  10. It was a bus tour we just picked up at the dock. It was several years ago now-no beach, just a couple of stops like a look out, the Curacao distillery where they gave you tastes of the various liquors, through the town but I honestly can’t remember what else. We had originally booked a private snorkel tour which was cancelled because of rain so picked this one up. (He also gave us all a bottle of beer or water to drink on the bus)! For beach ones you’d have to google & dig deeper I think.
  11. What a great trip you have planned with your grandson. Love your blog & posts. Have a fantastic time. Your grandkids are very lucky! I’ll be following along.
  12. They were doing this at YVR (apparently testing it) when I used my nexus to fly to YUL. On my return trip YUL wasn’t doing it. It sure sped up the process at YVR.
  13. That’s great. Glad you got it sorted out.
  14. My guess would be the upgrade of the cabin.
  15. Oh right, I forgot about the excursions. We did that as well with the HIA reservations.
  16. I agree with @Florida_gal_50 that can’t be right. I was quoted just under $700 Cnd per person for a 35 day cruise.
  17. We had the other couple that are cruising with us have our booking numbers joined. I was told to reserve our table, get them to reserve theirs at the same time, then when we get onboard to confirm we have a table for the 4 of us together. I was told this would be automatic but I will be checking once on board.
  18. Lol. Live & learn! Always good to have an idea especially if you don’t have any of the future deposits left like me. I’ll be buying more in November.
  19. WHAT!!! I’ll have to look to compare what we paid, thanks!
  20. It’s on the website now and fun to look!
  21. I just know how to use them after we buy them (as my husband would totally agree and say I book too many!)
  22. I’m never sure if it’s called a FCC or FCD. We buy (when on board) at the minimum a certificate of $100 each to put towards a future cruise. It can be used as a reduced deposit on a cruise. You can buy then book on board with it or wait until home to decide. They expire in 4 years and your money is refunded. I am sure someone with more knowledge on the terminology will hopefully pipe in. So I think FCC is future cruise certificate & FCD is future cruise deposit. Clear as mud, right! Fellow experienced cruisers please help out here!! Yes, I should know the difference by now but…
  23. For us we pay a bit extra for a look back of 7 days for medical. (Remember, we are Canadian so that may make a difference). We get our insurance from the company we used when working and still have them in retirement.
  24. I’m not sure. If I remember I’ll ask in November.
