  1. I was able to check in, but I can not view documents or print luggage tags.  When we checked in for our Dec. cruise, I could print luggage tags right away.  anyone else having this problem?  or are they not making docs. available  until closer to sailing?

Since we have a 12 PM Concierge Lunch, the board time assigned won't work.  Surprised they gave us one that late.

You won't have a set time for your lunch.  It goes until 1:30  I believe.  You just show up to the restaurant and they will seat you.

Were you in the first wave of people to board?  I believe that the premise that people are asking if they have a later boarding time but show up at 10 am, will they be allowed to board with the first wave of people or are they forced to wait until their scheduled boarding time (unlikely)

The shoreside staff try to board people by rows,  and that is usually the case, except in New Jersey.  We were in the 2nd row.  When staff came over to rows 1 & 2, all the other people in the other rows got up and headed to the ship.   It was a nightmare.  This was after suite people were boarded.

Was this on celebrity? Most here including myself have not had that experience. Interesting though and u wonder if it varies by port?

Yes. Out of New Jersey, and then again out of Fort Lauderdale.  We now pick a 11:30 time and then walk right on the ship

  5. If people arrive at 10:30, will they have to wait in the terminal until the ship is ready to board?  We have arrived early on prior sailings, before assigned arrival times, and we sat in the terminal until noon with hundreds of our closest friends.  Not a lot of fun.  =(

The most factual answer is to check statistical sites tracking many years of data (I like Weatherspark)

The most sensible answer is that it's irrelevant! If you have already packed sufficient layers for Alaska, you have automatically packed clothing that will handle Seattle weather as is basically the same just slightly warmer!

What you need for AK is sufficient layers to handle the coldest likely weather minus an extra 10C/15F or so to account for windchill on a moving ship/being parked next to a glacier for a while. Plus thin gloves and a toque - ears and fingers get nippy with wind or nearby ice - that you can pick up in a Dollar Store (the 'one size fits none' thin stretchy fleecy jobs are perfect, virtually weightless and roll up into a tiny bundle you can stuff in a jacket pocket).

But 5 days in Seattle... no temptation for a side-trip? Get out onto the Olympic Peninsula? Nip up or down the coast to Vancouver or Portland by train?

I'm not going to lie, I had to look up what a Toque was.  😂

I do have cap and gloves on the packing list, as well as layering. I was just wondering if the temp was that much warmer than AK to justify a pair of shorts.  😃

When we get back from the cruise, Seattle will just be our home base for trips around the area/region.

    Thanks for the Weatherspark recommendation.

  7. We sailed out of Vancouver 2 yrs ago.  It is a beautiful city.  We were there 3 days prior to sailing.  Stanley park is beautiful.  We biked around the park.  there are also walking lanes next to the biking lanes so you won't have to worry about getting out of the way of bikers.

If you like nature, you may like the Capilano Suspension Bridge.  it is about 15 mins. away from the St. Regis by car.

Grandville Island is a lot of fun.  If you are going to a bakery for fried apple pie, you should also try a Nanaimo Bar.  They are a wonderful treat.

If you want to see something unique, take a walk down to Gastown at the top of the hour to see   The Gastown Steam clock.

We stayed at the Auberge hotel, and around the block from the hotel is an English pub called the Lion Pub.  We had drinks and snacks there a few times.  It was really fun. We also went to Black & Blue steakhouse and ate on their rooftop.  It was pricey, but the steaks and view were really good. I hope you have a great time discovering Vancouver and have a wonderful cruise.  😃

How far in advance is the email usually sent? I am sailing in a Sky Suite on Eclipse at the end of May. Would any emails be coming sometime next month?

We are sailing in MCSS May 31.  We received our email from shoreside concierge around the beginning of March.  March 2, to be precise.
