We are sailing in a MCSS for our upcoming Alaska cruise. We decided to pay for a suite for Luminae because I have a food allergy. Unless Luminae is absolutely top-notch, we will probably go back to our Concierge class cabins.
I expect nothing more from our Magic Carpet Sky Suite than what we have in a Concierge Class cabin. At this rate, it seems like it won't be long until sky suites are removed from the Retreat altogether.
I think Celebrity is shooting themselves in the foot. It seems like the people at Celebrity are taking a page from Boeing's "corporate suite" level decision-making. They are ruining what used to be a great product. 😆

@John Bull - thanks so much for all that info....some good reading there which my wife and I will digest over later.
You mentioned Marella drinks......I had asked a question in another thread specifically about which cruise lines sell Strongbow as lager/beer isn't my thing. I believe Marella does but would be good if you happen to know for sure one way or another and also whether its draught, cans or bottles.
We sail Celebrity, and they have Strongbow cider.

I spoke to the shoreside concierge before sailing. When we got to Luminae my name was tagged. I preorder dinner either early in the day or the night before. We have the same waiter each night. He checks with the chef if there is a question. So far so good for me.
Funny you should mention celiacs. Our daughter is gluten free as well. We noticed the Luminae menu does not annotate gluten free. The Oceanview Cafe marks almost all their offerings with contents.
We sail X because they take such good care with food allergies. This will be our first time in Luminae, and I did notice their menu did not have allergen symbols.
I filled out the suite questionnaire, and put down my celiac disease. I also think our TA puts it in whenever we book a cruise. I will also mention it when we board the ship. Hopefully I will be safe.

Loving your review so far.
We really enjoy Duckhorn wine, so when we tried Decoy, we were hoping it would be enjoyable... we don't care for it either.
You mentioned you had a food allergy. I have celiac disease, and I was wondering how careful they are in Luminae?

I can't think of a single situation where anything public-facing went out wrong with typographical errors, thanks to appropriate checks and balances in the design and publishing process. I am sure it was possible but extremely rare. However, these types of mistakes are not rare for Celebrity, which is why I suggested they employ a team to proof all communications.
In this day and age when grammar and spelling are not taught in schools, and spell check is the editor of choice, what do you expect? I doubt that Celebrity would spend big money on people who proof copy when they can't employ an IT department that makes their website run smoothly. 😃

So when the butlers are back, does that mean we will have a cabin steward and a butler, or just a butler?

We sail in 2.5 months. I am interested in this answer as well. I'm not sure it will change my experience either way though.

this past December, we boarded at 11:30, and then I realized that I had left my purse at our pre-cruise hotel. We were allowed to exit the ship. Security scanned us out, and they said, "make sure you are back by 4:30 p.m. for 5 pm sail away." Luckily, I retrieved my purse and we were back on the ship by 1 pm. I would ask at check in, and then again once you are on the ship.
My sister and her husband check in and then head to a wine shop for a few bottles for the cruise.
How many days until your next cruise??? Part 2
