  1. We just had our first trip (not cruise ) with apple air tags , and while there were many times when there was no contact with them, we had enough movement to know they were moving toward our plane and not setting in some corner overlooked. I am glad we have them, there is a lot of piece of mind knowing your bags made it.
  2. Yes, we all have the option of tipping and tipping is easy. It does take effort to get to know the name of the crew members who serve you to submit a positive comment.
  3. Do the benefits of booking onboard continue for a certain number of days after your cruise has ended?
  4. I did our specialty reservations about a week ago. I think this is new to the web site. When you look at a certain date, it will also display any excursions for that day. It will not let you make a reservation if the excursion ends too close to the dinner reservation you want to make.
  5. Recognition of service provided. One thing you can do, and we make sure to do it, is know the names of the crew you interact with and with the midcruise comment card and for the final survey, be sure to include any deserved praise you have for a crew member. I made a well deserved favorable about a crew member who had gone an extra step to help us with something. Two days after I submitted this, the supervisor of the crew member found me at lunch and thanked me for the comment. He advised he uses things like this to help justify a promotion or raise etc.
  6. Since they have your birthday data they may (probably will) say happy birthday to you on the TV show in the morning with the cruise director. Anything more, you should ask for, I doubt if they will sing happy birthday or anything else to you unless that is requested. Some people don't want the attention.
  7. When we were on a mass market cruise ship, we had a bottle we bought at one of the ports and they held it for us until the day before we disembarked. If a cruise charges for drinks as you go, that would more likely be the area where they hold your liquor until you are at the end of your cruise.
  8. In Miami we head to the ship when we check out of hotel, around 11:30. If we have to wait for a while after we get in, that doesn't bother us. We will people watch or read a book. Like Portolan, I am not at ease until on board having lunch.
  9. On our only refund, the money was sent to every credit card that had been used to pay with. The original cruise discount from several previous cruises that go moved etc, was to a vey old credit card and they set me a check for the amount. I was most concern when I totaled up all I have been credited and was short a couple thousand and then the next month the check from the old card company showed up.
  10. As the letter also said, it is up to the local authorities what they will accept to allow you in country. I looked at the letter as Regent is passing along the information regarding requirements from the ports that are planned.
  11. Thank you for your comments. I have only heard from a friend regarding a suggestion for an excursion, no other comments until from you now. We will be prepared for the weather, thanks for the info.
  12. terry&mike Thank you so much for you explanation of how AirTags work and your experience. Because they are so small I decided to put each AirTag and an index card, with name of the suitcase, in a Crown Royal Bag to go in the suitcase. I used initials and large (or small bag) for name and different icons on my Iphone. We have practiced with each one with actual usage next week. Then I will update the process for our next trip.
  13. What are the advantages to booking a future cruise while on board? Lower deposit, cruise discount etc.
  14. Our Roll call is not very active - just about 5 couples. I posted here to try to find other passengers that are on our sailing.
  15. All went very well. Don't remember this part of the process from the last time I got to make reservation (3 years ago!) but when you select a date for a reservation the list of available times will pop up. Also, there will be the excursion you have reserved for that day with the start/end times.
  16. It has been 10 years since we stayed a week in Istanbul but some recommendations: Find a copy and watch the movie "Topkapi", probably your local library will have a copy. Our first evening in Istanbul we found a restaurant on top of a hotel in Sultanahmet (I remember thinking I had considered this for a place to stay) no elevators (are you in shape), spiral stone staircase, and I really think the name was Margara Palace (we stayed in Margara boutique) We were seated on the balconey and enjoyed a nice meal. In the middle of it there was the call to prayer echoing across the city. I remember saying to DH, now I know we are in Istanbul. Sultanahmet - is the "old city" where there are the sites (markets, mosques, cistern, etc. This is where there is so much to see just walking around also. On the bridge that goes across the Bospherus there are a couple restaurants on the lower level. One of these (at least) will bring a cart of fresh fish on ice for you to select you dinner. Fun, not cheap. Have fub.
  17. Wonder if anyone out there has a picture of this tower? Last P7 visit my DH had a dinner of crab legs - out of the shell.
  18. On a Regent cruise to the Baltic in 2014 we paid separate for our visas. Regent got them for us, but it was an item on our paperwork. I really think it will depend on what the visa requirements are for a location. Some ports it is probably easier for Regent to provide them and others not. Also, some countries charge differently depending on your citizenship.
  19. We are on the December 8 voyage. We start out going to Victoria Falls for a pre-cruise land tour. And after the cruise we have the wine wonder out of Cape Town. We have been on Navigator, Explorer and Voyager and have had a great time on all three, but they are all different. We were originally booked for this cruise in 2020 and the wait has been long. Both of the sailings show a lot of suite categories as “available “, don’t know what this really says about how many passengers are signed up. Let me know if you have any questions about the sailing when we get on board.
  20. Final payment has been made and getting excited about a cruise finally happening this time. Excursions are booked. Flights are made. Not much traffic on the Roll Call for this cruise, wonder how many people will be doing this cruise.
  21. Thank you so much for taking the time to post the details of you trip. Knowing details like your experience at Madrid airport will help someone who gets in similar situation to not panic. ( i.e. At Heathrow you are not shown your gate until 30 minutes prior to boarding, this is nerve racking for us Americans.)
  22. We stayed in a Cat G stateroom on Explorer. It was OK, but not conducive to room service anyplace but the balcony. The table is a coffee table height.
  23. 1. Many times there will be shuttle service between a city and the ship. Destination services should have the info. Please, make sure you let the tour guide know when you are leaving the tour to go on your own. Be mindful of the all aboard time. 3. We have never been in a position to take a small group tour. But, we have not felt crowded in the tours we have taken. 5. Your excursion tickets will have the meeting time and place, this will also be in Passages the evening before the excursion. So if you meet in the theater, they will have explicit instructions about exchanging your excursion ticket for a ticket for that tour. (this lets them know how many people showed up). They will call you tour when they are ready for you and they take into account the tender times. It is usually very orderly. For afternoon tours, I have seen the tour meet on shore. But there will be instructions on your excursion tickets.
  24. So, if you would have wanted to pay for the specialty dining, you would have been able to when you called?
