  1. I am so sorry for your loss, prayers that you will get the answers you need quickly.
  2. Good morning, Today will be even windier than yesterday with gusts over 50 mph! Unfortunately I have several appointments today and I will be holding on for dear life. I have been knocked down before in a big gust. Crayons are my life now as the kids like to color. I bought a box of 128 in hopes they would not fight over the same color. As expected that did not work. I am all packed up for my trip to Tucson. This is unusual for me but the next two days are very busy for me. Prayers for those on the care list. My heart goes out to those who are caring for loved ones. Have a great day!
  3. Every ship I have been has allowed people to use the showers in the spa area which is usually located near the gym. There is usually a sauna or steam room that can be used by anyone there too. Many cruisers who are sharing rooms will have some people shower in the spa change room areas.
  4. I think they have vitamin water on NS. I am in a spa verandah room and it says it comes with 2 bottles. I don’t know if they are vitamin water zero.
  5. Thanks for all the responses. I am still working on what to do. I have two excursions with people from the roll call and 3 from HAL. I will decide the rest later. I plan on taxis to get from airport to hotel in Barcelona and from ship to hotel in Amsterdam. Still figuring out the rest.
  6. Good morning, it will a windy windy day in Kansas. Gusts to 40 miles per hour staring this afternoon. That is spring in Kansas. I think I will take the time to pack today. The skin on my forearm is very tender to touch. I have to keep my sleeves rolled up. This will decrease what I can choose to pack. That’s probably a good thing so I don’t overpack. Hand therapy is going ok. It is pretty sore by the end of the day but nothing I can’t handle. Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to the lucky dailyites. Prayers to those in need. Have a great day.
  7. Oh my Karen, so sorry you are dealing with this. It seems one step forward and two steps back at times. He sound like he was very sick. I am glad he is rallying and out of the ICU. Everyone tells us to rest and take care of ourselves but I know you are running on adrenaline and will rest as needed. Prayers for all in need.
  8. I wonder if you could go to the ER to see if they can see where he is bleeding from? I would hate for you to get on the ship and not be able to stop the bleeding. Is he on a blood thinner like Plavix?
  9. I lived on the St Paul campus in student housing in the mid 1970’s and I saw the fireworks at night from the fair grounds.
  10. Good morning, The bright yellow ball will be shining all day and for the next few days. It will be great to be able to get out and walk. The wind will be down as well until Friday. Welcome Spring! I bought 3 new pairs of travel pants at Scheels last week. I like to shop there where they hem the pants for free. I hope they are done before I head to Tucson. They make travel pants with zippers look much nicer than they used to. I love my pockets especially on a cruise. Luckily we had an in depth refrigerator discussion I hope it will help @lvhh @smitty34877I am sorry to hear you lost a great caregiver. This journey you are on sure has twists and bumps. @RMLincolnIt is always nerve wracking when a loved one has any type of procedure. Especially when they make you sign the forms with all the complications that could happen. Luckily eye surgery is quick and you won’t have to wait long. Everyone have a great day. Prayers for those in need.
  11. I actually had mold form on the rubber ring. Maybe mine sealed too tight? I ended up trying to keep it propped open but others kept shutting it. Everyone I know who has one does not close it tight after use. They may make them better now. Mine was 10 years ago when I finally traded it out.
  12. Good morning, it looks like the sun will pay us a visit today. Per usual it will cloud up with chance of rain overnight. We did not get our usual snow amounts this year but we are ahead on rain. This will be good for the new sod they laid last fall. I booked another spontaneous last minute trip. My DSIL who has MS and is the mother of my DN who has epilepsy is very depressed and stressed. I suggested a short getaway before my trip and her move to a new house and we are off to Tucson on Sunday. My FA assured me I could travel and set a travel budget so off I go. I saw someone mention reaching the bottom of the washer with the new large agitator less top loaders. I am only 5 ft 2 in so I use tongs. I did not like how the front loaders smelled moldy unless you kept the door open and my new laundry room does not allow for the door to be open so top loader it is. Thanks to everyone who helped me through the last two weeks. Lots of sad anniversaries and my hand put me in a funk. Hopefully sunny Tucson will snap me out of it before my big trip. Have a great day everyone!
  13. Thanks Jacqui for your concern. I did call back to the therapist on Friday to tell them I could not weather it. They reassured me I could not hurt it but in might hurt from not wearing it. I was advised if my hand was painful on Monday they could try to adjust it. It is feeling ok unless I bump it or do something stupid. I will see how it is tomorrow.
  14. Good morning, I slept in today and woke up to a sunny day. My eyes are blinded by the bright ball in the sky that has been avoiding us. Unfortunately it won’t last long. I am glad to have found this thread and will celebrate its anniversary whatever the date it is. I have totally given up on the splint and am doing ok. I hope everyone’s else’s health challenges are improving. It unfortunately takes longer the older we get. Off to do some laundry. I found the quick wash setting on my new machine which has saved me tons of time. The new washers cycles are so long. I don’t have kids with filthy laundry at home anymore so I don’t need the heavy duty wash. Have a great Sunday.
  15. When sailing solo do you stick to ship excursions or venture off on private tours? I have a mix on my May cruise and hope it is ok.
  16. We took a car seat and a booster seat when we went on a Disney cruise in January. We did not use shuttles we used a car service so we could use the seats. Uber or Lyft will let you use them too. I found the car service was not that expensive and we were very happy we did it. I could not imagine flying down the highway from the airport without them. I would check with the hotel their shuttles most likely have seat belts.
  17. @luvteaching caretakers have a special place in heaven. It is a hard job especially when it is a loved one. Make sure you are resting and eating well. Hugs!
  18. Good morning, I am up early and DGS is still asleep. He insisted on a sleepover last night. I promised we would go out for breakfast and waffles sound good. I lasted about 4 hours in the brace and took it off. Oh well, I tried. I found petting Molly is a good hand exercise. She is a willing participant. How do you watch the sail always? I thought people who commented on it lived in Florida. Silly me! I am contemplating buying some AARP Holland America gift cards to start paying off my Grand Australia Cruise. I am afraid to get to many in case I need to cancel and end up with a lot of money on the books. Anyone have experience with using them? I hope everyone has a great Saturday and prayers to all that need them.
  19. Yikes, that is crazy, I can’t imagine what they were doing with your luggage.
  20. Good morning all, I am off early tonsee my Financial Advisor. That should cheer me up! Haha! My son has wanted to go with me since DH died. I think he is trying to make sure I will be ok. Funny how the table turns. My FA is used to this and we already discussed how to handle this. The new splint is not comfortable. I have a sore spot from my cast on my thumb that rubs when wearing the splint. She mainly wants me to wear it at night. I will work on making it more comfortable. I am glad everyone’s surgery went well. Prayers and hugs to all in need. I better get going or I will be late.
  21. Thanks for sharing. I am getting just a little nervous about my May cruise.
  22. I am very late today. I am not going to lie but yesterday was horrible for me. I held it together until the evening and then I had a big cry fest. Thanks for all the kind words and support. I got my cast off and I was a bit freaked out by my deformed looking thumb. The PA and OT were not concerned (or real good poker faces). I got a custom splint that is hotter than blazes. I just ordered a liner that should come tomorrow. I don’t start therapy until next Tuesday. They assured me I can’t mess it up so I will be doing range of motion exercises on my own until then. I hope everyone has a good evening. I hope to be in better shape tomorrow.
  23. I am on that one too. I signed up right as Jacqui had to cancel. She was an inspiration for me to try and cruise solo.
  24. He had a 4 inch gash with sutures and gauze sticking out of it. I doubt others in the dining room would have enjoyed eating with that. Some people have queasy stomachs. He too had Mohs surgery and when it was the worst we tended not to eat out while things were pretty gross. People had to put up with the scar and that’s ok.
