  1. When are you going in May? I am on the NS from May 6th to May 24th.
  2. Happy to hear the good news Jacqui. It will be so freeing to be able to get yourself where you want/ need to go.
  3. Good morning all, I woke up early this morning thinking of my DS. He would have been 45 today. I have a friend taking me shopping for some things I need for my cruise and out for lunch. Later I will watch DGS play soccer and after we will a “drive by” ( drive thru) as he calls it for dinner. Trying to keep as busy as possible today. It is easy to go down that rabbit hole of grief. Prayers for Debbie and Kazu today. @mamaofami good luck tomorrow on the cataract surgery. I did not know about the no bending. Only 24 hours left in the cast. It went fast but the last week has been very irritating. I know I will be disappointed that even with it off I will still have limited mobility. Dangling a cruise in front of me will motivate me to do the exercises.
  4. Good morning, It is another gray rainy day in Kansas. Poor Molly hates to go out in the rain. She is a Diva. I will pass on the meal. I am allergic. Shellfish allergies really limits a lot of the menu choices on a cruise. Especially since I don’t like fish. Prayers for those having medical procedures this week. I know it must be hard to wait for your surgery time Debbie. The early times are hardest on those taking us to the procedure since the patient gets to go back to sleep.
  5. Large amount of OBC and possibly a better room price and location from the blocks of rooms they reserve was good enough for me. If they do more than that is a bonus. If I don’t like them and get other recommendations while on the cruise I will research more.
  6. Personally I am not offended by hats. What I dislike is seeing bare scalps after surgery with scabs and bandages as we eat (I have seen several ). I would be happy for them to put on a hat. My husband had an accident at work where he had a scalp injury and needed plastic surgery right before a cruise. No one wanted to look at that including me. He wore a close fitting cap with a brim. He showed the maître d’ the first day and no problem wearing it. No one gave us stares or cared that we noticed and they had no idea why he was wearing it. Unless that hat is blocking my view it will not spoil my dinner.
  7. No mine is booked as 22 day. You can book an 8 day and 14 day separately.
  8. Same for me. I am on the 22 day out of Barcelona ending in Amsterdam and could only book 6 days. They said I will have to go to the spa once I board to add more. I Am afraid they will be sold out to people boarding the 14 day leaving from Amsterdam. I think I will call again and see if I can add more days. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
  9. Good morning, I woke up with winter and temps in the 20’s. It will peek into spring this afternoon with 50’s and wind. One thing you count on in Kansas is wind in the spring. You can’t buy a breeze in the summer when it is in the 90’s and humid. I will pass on todays food but thanks to @0106 for taking over for Debbie as she gets ready for her long awaited surgery. Thanks to @seagarsmokerfor taking us on their NS cruise. I will be on her in May and like hearing about their adventures and report on the ship. Have a great happy day everyone.
  10. Good afternoon, It is a late posting but I have been up since 0600. I just wanted to drop by and express how much I love my hands free can opener! Thanks to all who suggested it before my surgery. I made three bean chili today and had several cans to open. I am happy to say this thread is great for more than just cruising. Just 4 more days until the cast comes off. I have 6 weeks to get it in shape before my NS cruise in May. Blessings to all in need on this Sunday.
  11. For me it was a no brainer, the cabin I had previously booked was more expensive than the near identical Hosted cruise cabin plus the OBC sweetened the deal. I am curious how involved the hosts are in the pre planning and the cruise itself.
  12. I am curious too. I booked a hosted tour for my Grand Australia cruise in January and I got $1,700 in OBC from the TA.
  13. I had a soot problem on the Edge too. When we docked to disembark it looked the the stack threw up on the balcony. I was on deck 7 sunset verandah.
  14. Good morning, It is a brisk March morning in Kansas. I will pass on the lamb stew and substitute beef today. My hats off for those who made the extreme sacrifice. I am amazed at how much everyone has traveled. I enjoy the pictures. Thanks to everyone who keeps this going with shares, pictures and jokes. Have a great Saturday!
  15. Good morning, A cold morning here new had a light dusting of snow overnight after the rain. I will wait to venture out. I am sure there is ice hiding under that snow. I do not like corned beef and cabbage. My mother loved it and made it every year. Here is a pick of the grands. DGS put his shirt on backwards so he could see the printing.
  16. Sorry to hear this. I know how you feel. It is exhausting taking care of a loved one.
  17. @dfish I am sorry you are having to fight the approval for your surgery. I was lucky we did not have to fight any of my DH treatments, many that were not standard of care for his cancers. He had a supplement that I had never heard of before that was offered when he first signed up. We never did any of the advantage plans that would have made approvals harder. Keep pushing, they count on people giving up.
  18. Good morning, Another gray rainy day here in Kansas. Yesterday was sunny but very windy. The car ride went well. I had the top down and the heater on. The guys were pretty somber. I held up well and enjoyed the day. I did my check in for my NS cruise leaving on May 6th. Somehow it snuck up on me and I did not lose those 10 pounds I wanted to. I better get going cracking on the healthy eating. Every one have a great day!
  19. Ruby’s battery is dead. She jumped started but would not hold the charge. Luckily my DH had a lot of car buddies and I am sitting in one of their shops now. Next I need to clean her up for tomorrow’s ride.
  20. I would not have known about if I hadn’t read it in cruise critic. My TA was surprised too. I just kept insisting that she pursue it.
  21. Good morning all, Surprise surprise , Subaru called back and said yes I could sign the title with the judges order. They really want the car and are giving me a good price. I did not want to have the car at my house, It has been at my DDIL sisters house in storage. My DGS always waited for his uncle by watching for his car. We did not want the constant reminder. I was inquiring about the Legendary Amazon trip for 2025. They want $3500 deposit which is more than my Grand Australia. I have to think on that one. Tomorrow I will be taking a ride in the mustang with the car guys in memory of my late DH. I can’t believe it will be a year. Fingers crossed I can get her started today ( her name is Ruby). I let the battery die and she has been on the charger for a week. Prayers for those on the care list and others in need. Have a great day everyone.
  22. Terri there is a lot of GI illnesses going around. Keep hydrated and rest.
  23. At least on Disney they have a true adult only area that is very nice.
  24. I found the HAL reps are not all experts on CO. You pay for CO and pick cabin at time of booking. I just did this a month ago. I would have your TA call back and insist on someone who knows what to do. It took two different people until we got the right outcome.
  25. Sorry you have been so ill. Hopefully you have turned the corner.
