  1. Yes since these tags are applied in inconspicuous areas - you should be able to rev up the heat enough to remove the tags without damage to the garment exterior.
  2. In a Suite/Haven have your Butler bring you the heated essentials you need - In other cabins - improvise if the heated tap water will suffice - Still need more heat improvise further with hot hot water in a towel from the buffet - Perhaps your cabin steward may be able to work something out. If you don't ask for help from the crew you will perhaps never know of the solutions.
  3. This can't be happening - there is global warming - there has to be an explanation !
  4. Thats when the Concierge and Priority dibs come into play - go to the head of the line.
  5. Since these tags are usually in an inconspicuous place - try a few drops of - YES - WD40 It will wash out without staining and has amazing powers to unglue unstuck things.
  6. You don't need a lot of fluff and puff - remember it is taking up critical space in your luggage unless you plan on wearing it embarking and going about.
  7. Of note Carnival is the parent company of Princess and Holland - America
  8. Rarely are there any issues with baggage handling between the Alaska RR and cruise lines - maybe a remote case with a tour operator. But as long as your luggage has not lost its mind (ah er that is the handle) and has ID it will be soon mated with you. Suggested that you put a copy of your cruise documents inside each piece of luggage. Alaska is experiencing zero problems of the magnitude like the current European snafu Of course use caution in letting the airlines handle your luggage especially on connecting flights - everyone needs time to do the job - some more than others.
  9. True visibility at the top maybe better later in the day - the low overcast visibility at ground level should not deter one from going on the Tram. At ground level (or even viewing from a ship deck) look for the cable tram rigging and the tram cars going up and own (as one goes up the other is counter balanced and comes down) if you can't see this AT ALL consider a different time to ride. Remember your ticket is an all day ticket - - - Having multiple cruise ships in port may make it a challenge to ride without a wait - - - If the lines to ride are out the door - plan on two or more cycles to accommodate that number of riders - at least a half hour wait ? Don't wait to ride the last ride down when you cruise ship has sounded its departure horn - This is serious if your ship is at one of the remote away docks/piers i.e. AJ Dock. But never the less the ride and view regardless of weather is amazing and really worth it - If offered as a combo deal with another excursion i.e. Mendenhall & Tram check out the value in that - - - Don't quibble over the few dollar difference between advance purchase and other methods of timely purchase - perhaps the best way is buy the ticket when you are ready to ride ! Plan on at least two ride cycles while at the top - more for the hiking excursions.
  10. My experience NCL JEWEL luggage was checked at the Anchorage Depot with my stateroom tags and transported by truck to the ship and thence to my cabin door. This is much better than checking it at the Depot - reclaiming it at Seward and hauling it to the ship for checking at that point. Most all the cruise lines use this method - especially with tour groups. I don't know how it is done with the Charter rail trips from the airport to the pier - I would imagine that at the airport your stateroom tags are attached to your luggage and you will find it waiting at your cabin door. The cardinal theme here - customer (guest) convenience in handling baggage/luggage The non-cruise Alaska RR trips i.e. Denali Star - checked luggage is placed in small wire rack containers holding about 25-30 pieces of luggage and then that container is forklifted into a baggage car to be unloaded at the destination you are going to. At that destination a fork lift removes the luggage from the baggage car and makes it available for claiming in and near the depot - this is just like the airlines do with container baggage only on a smaller scale. With tours your luggage maybe claimed by the tour operator and taken to your hotel quarters. Simply ask the agents of the cruise line - railroad - or tour operators "What's happening" ?
  11. A picture diagram can say it a lot better than words - Google Map: Google Maps In the top left next to Seward Hy 9 is the Alaska RR Seward Depot At the bottom right the rectangular white building is the Cruise Terminal Just above that Cruise Terminal is Ferry Terminal Road where there is a siding for charter trains to almost pull up to ship The walk to the cruise terminal from the Depot is about 5-6 blocks a free shuttle is provided or one can walk it in about 10-15 minutes The Ferry Terminal siding is about a block from the ship The Alaska RR Coastal Classic trains use the Depot - The Chartered Alaska RR trains use the siding adjacent to the ship GTJ has explained the rest The only hang up would be weather making either trek to the ship one that may need rain gear ? No one has control over that function
  12. For photos images of both dining rooms LINK: Norwegian Gem Deck 6 Deck Plans (cruisedeckplans.com) Click on the little camera icons for the photos The Menu is the same and shared by the same Galley between the two dining rooms. Note while both dining rooms are on deck 6 - 4 elevators (main atrium) service the Magneta DR and ONLY 1 (aft elevator bank) services the GP DR - - - Able body folks Please use the stairs and leave that one elevator for HC and elderly mobility impaired guests (bad design by NCL)
  13. Don't be discouraged by being a solo single - often tours excursions wind up needing a party of ONE to fill the docket. While cabin occupancy is based on double - tours and excursions are not - sometimes working to your advantage to riding the shot gun seat on a small van for the best seat in the house folks/couples sitting together.
  14. On a more positive note - contact Guest Services to put you in contact with the officer of the bridge whose job is meteorology and/or navigation - make an introduction for an interesting discussion about that sextant. Another alternative see one of the 4 stripers (Captain - Staff Captain) make an introduction that way. Any officer worth his salt should be interested in the ancient art of sailing/navigation.
  15. For best viewing you have to get out from underneath city suburban street lighting. Someplace dark. When on a ship it is difficult to find a dark spot due to all the rigging and exterior lights. Same applies on land - and summer time late sundown doesn't help either. Still yet Alaska being as far north as it is the best place compared to the lower 48. The pricy tours no doubt know the optimum location to view the Aurora Borealis - avoiding twilight reflections off of snow glaciers lakes and expanses of open water.
  16. I think this bears further discussion - my answer would be NO. *Full-fare Suites booked when reservation was originally made. Does not include Club Balcony Suites Reason only Full-Fare Suites whether in the Haven or other location. The clue is the FULL benefits of the Butler and Concierge Club Balcony Suites - used to be call Mini-Suites and the suite term is confusing.
  17. Have two (or more) Latitude number accounts - - - CALL and have them merged and of course to the one with the most points best status
  18. I would plan on paying luggage (baggage) fees unless traveling in a premium class (First - Business) or have an affinity credit card or other connection with the airline that NCL has arranged.
  19. Shorten that harness to a waist clip and forgo that leash (or adapt the strap as a waist belt) !
  20. GROUND TRANSFERS Transfers Between Airport & Cruise Pier Book Your Transfers Today: Log in to MyNCL or call 800.327.7030 Norwegian Cruise Line offers ground transfers between the airport and the pier and vice versa. To purchase transfers online, have your airline documentation ready, log in to MyNCL and select Check-In. An option to purchase transfers to and from the cruise pier will appear in Step 4 after you enter valid flight information. You can also call us to purchase transfers. Purchases must be arranged at least 4 days prior to sailing. Important Information about Norwegian Cruise Line Ground Transfers Taxis and public transportation have limited availability in many of the ports so we highly recommend booking your Norwegian Transportation prior to your cruise. For Airport arrivals: a Norwegian Cruise Line representative will meet you in the baggage claim area for domestic flights and outside of customs for international flights to assist with transportation to the ship or hotel (if applicable). For Departures transfers: the shipboard team will advise you of the exact departure time while onboard. All guests who purchase transfers will receive a transfer voucher with their eDocs. Some ships will offer additional departure transfers to city center or train station. Ask the Guest Service Desk onboard for details and pricing. Charter sailings may or may not offer transfers, please contact your travel professional for more details Note best you consider taking that Uber Taxi to the port and not waste time with this. As noted the Taxi fare is around $30. - NCL used to post the transfer fees but I believe that it would be about $30 PER PERSON - - - Take the taxi check-in get on board and start the party forget the travel by group
  21. You may have your luggage checked in at a common area as well as the covid/health checks. BUT after that look for the Haven Suites lines signs marquee - Don't just jump into any line - only to find you were wasting time in the wrong one - Look for a uniformed NCL agent ASK ?s get directions maybe an escort - - -
  22. Call to be sure - Usually after you get your airline checked luggage you meet the Cruise Line representative and will be directed to a motor coach (aka the bus) to take you and your luggage to the pier. There are 3 New York area airports - JFKennedy - LaGuardia - Newark. No doubt there would be representatives at all three - But call to be sure and question what bag claim area to meet that representative.
  23. Do we have 1 card per passenger Thanks Yes, with everyone's name
  24. KING beds on NCL can not be split due to the framing. Queen beds are usually two twins joined. Being in a suite or Haven you will no doubt be escorted to your stateroom. Hopefully at that time your cabin steward will be in the area to discuss the bedding/sleeping options. On some ships suites are provided a cell phone - found with the promo - dinner certificates and other introductory material AND a list of who to call Concierge - Butler - Cabin Steward - Room Service etc. Cabin steward not around - call and leave a message - Usually while you are at dinner the CS will make the sleeping arrangements that you have requested - BUT remember the KING bed can't be split *** *** an alternative for this is a barrier of pillows or couch cushions to divide the bed into two - not always the perfect answer. See what magic the CS can do for you - - -
  25. For the most part NCL does not sail between Europe the USA & Caribbean on a regular scheduled basis - all these cruises are therefore repositions. Repositions occur most often with the change of seasons. When using the NCL website or a TA one look at the menu options - Cruise Destination Cruise Length Ship Cruise Line Port(s) of Departure Dates Fill in the blanks Should zero in on what you maybe looking for And note the ship repositioning cruises may not be titled as a Repositioning Cruise !
