Hello, Can I give some facts that may save some unnecessary analysis? I speak as someone that used to pay the 'port fees and taxes' of ships for which we were agents. The calculation includes the following: Ship's registered tonnage, ship's port of registry, number of passengers, last port of call/departure prior to this arrival. Regards, Cublet

Now $1.50 for gelato in Windjammer
cublet replied to Slidell_Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hello, Not in this part of Europe are they the same! From the family archives, here is a picture of my Grandfather selling his own made Gelato to the good citizens of Bristol early in the last century. I have cropped the image showing his name and address from his barrow so as not to embarrass any relatives reading this. Now, perhaps, people reading my (many) posts complaining about the swill served as 'Prosecco' will know where I'm coming from. Regards, Cublet -
Now $1.50 for gelato in Windjammer
cublet replied to Slidell_Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hello, This is a genuine enquiry, not the start of an argument. If not the WJ, can you say where this is? My RCI experience is limited to Independence (long ago), most Voyager class and now Anthem and if not the WJ then I cannot place it. Regards, Cublet -
Hello, I need to add "for the moment". This forum is awash with tales of woe and much grinding of teeth over things that have been moved/changed/removed/reinstated/for-free not charged for now charged for (for a while) but might be in future - in short I have saved you from reading about 100 pages (or that's what it feel like). My advice is to ask again closer to your date of travel when things might have settled down. Regards, Cublet

Current ("latest") rules for booking a future cruise onboard
cublet replied to Josie201's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hello, Unless something has changed SINCE JUNE THIS YEAR you can book on either for the other. However as I always say when this question is frequently asked, the Next Cruise people may not be 100% up to speed on what the sister company has as 'offers' as they usually have to be added manually to a booking so YOU need to know what you are expecting to get and prompt for them if necessary. Hello, If you do get Champagne, don't tell as everyone will want some! Regards, Cublet

In Celebrity blocking onboard usage of CC over their WI-FI?
cublet replied to clojacks's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hello, It was also more noticeable on a Saturday afternoons or any other time when a sports programme was being broadcast and bandwidth given over to that. Regards, Cublet -
how wide are the doors on a Balcony on Wonder
cublet replied to molsonschooner's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hello, Aside from the width, there's also the step - the door frame is not flush to the floor of the cabin. Regards, Cublet -
NOW I have a problem with the new Suite policies
cublet replied to sixpackeddie's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hello, I agree if the display is 'same old, same old' but there can sometimes be something original that even brings a smile to a miserable git like me: Regards, Cublet -
NOW I have a problem with the new Suite policies
cublet replied to sixpackeddie's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hello, I would generally agree with you when the kitchen and waiting staff parade through the MDR waving napkins to the tune of Funiculì, Funiculà. However my one and only Cruise on Carnival had the Irish Maître d' - who always dressed in bow tie and tails - singing with an excellent voice whilst the waiting staff 'danced' on the spot on their serving stations. It was a genuinely entertaining experience and would happily 'suffer' again. Regards, Cublet -
NOW I have a problem with the new Suite policies
cublet replied to sixpackeddie's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hello, Are you suggesting removal of all 'suite' styled perks from Sky Suites, rename the cabin to 'Extra Large Veranda Cabin with Large Balcony' and lower the price to something above the current highest priced non-Concierge, non-Aqua veranda cabin? I would go with that for the space. Regards, Cublet -
NOW I have a problem with the new Suite policies
cublet replied to sixpackeddie's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hello, As more and more 'extras' are removed from the Celebrity product bringing it closer to Royal, then what's the point of it? Regards, Cublet -
Hello, On Silhouette in June, the Gelato station was used as a 'to go' overflow for the Cafe al Bacio in the mornings before the ice cream was put out. Regards, Cublet

Hello, Just how close is this oven out of which the cookies are offered? Regards, Cublet

Hello, I empty the contents and use the cooler as such for my stuff. Regards, Cublet

Hello, I cast my favours widely as you can tell from my signature. 2025 was due to be predominantly X but I am now wondering what will be left of what I thought I was going to get. I think what this needs is some big American TA, or whatever you call them, to pick up the 'phone to Freedom and say something along the lines of 'we can no longer recommend X to our clients because of the diminishing standards, blah, blah etc, etc'. Perhaps then he will get the message as the complaints here will be water off a duck's back. Regards, Cublet

Hello, What I think is careless is that the Pilgrim Fathers, en route to New Plymouth, seem to have lost the recipe/method for making 'biscuits' and the soggy mess called 'cookies' is the result. Royal, Celebrity, Uncle Tom Cobley and All can charge what they want 'cos I won't be eating them - for free or for a fee. Don't be too upset, the Aussies can't make 'biscuits' either even though they do call theirs that. Regards, Cublet

Hello, OK, Yes, I got that - thanks. Regards, Cublet

Hello, Are you saying that, re my post #36, black-out dates AREN'T universal but dependent on geography? With Thanksgiving, this does not apply to UK as we have no sailings, but there are sailings out of continental Europe - so the black-out date of Thanksgiving should not apply to these sailings? Should the C&A Member Benefits document be made clearer? My dealings with the muppet CSRs tells me they cannot keep abreast of one set of rules never mind, say, 7 for seven continents - even though (to my mind) it makes sense. Regards, Cublet PS: I'm not aware of any RCI sailings out of Antarctica to be honest though.

Hello, When I was on in June the coffee machine had gone but the cupboard on which it stood was still there. Regards, Cublet
-
Hello, See my posting #36, Thanksgiving is a 'black-out' date for the reduced single supplement. Regards, Cublet
-
Hello, And I don't know whether I left the church or the church left me, but I don't think we have such a thing as a 'Thanksgiving' national holiday in November. I do remember 'Harvest Festival' from Sunday School though! Regards, Cublet

Hello, From the Member Benefits .pdf: 43) Single members must have at least 340 Cruise Points earned to receive the single cruise fare at 150%. This offer is based on availability with certain restrictions. Ocean Voyage Packages, Holiday sailings (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving, Easter/Spring break) and the peak summer months of June 15 thru August 15 are not included in this offer. As you can see, some dates are not specific like 'Easter'. The crunch generally is 'start' or Embarkation day: If your cruise starts before and goes into or over a 'blackout' date then that is fine, but you cannot start or embark on/during a blackout date/period. What to my simple mind makes no sense is to have 'global' blackout dates - they should be relative to the region in which the ship is sailing. I presume 'peak summer months' in US are 15th June to 15th August, I would not say that those precise dates are the same for UK or most of Europe yet the above 'black-out' still applies. Regards, Cublet

Use excess OBC to pay multiple cabin gratuities?
cublet replied to ludocdoc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hello, I went back and found it: Someone was reporting on a message from Royal re Shareholders' OBC still quoting either old or not enforced T&Cs. Regards, Cublet
