  1. Hello, I find this quite bizarre. I 'spend' most of my on-board spend on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and MSC usually from the comfort of my desk at home. As to the answer is in the description, the goods and or services were purchased by me for 'on-board' use or consumption. Regards, Cublet
  2. Hello, I thought it was a good social event as we were all standing and could chat and mingle freely unlike at an event where all were seated. Regards, Cublet
  3. Hello, Many thanks for the response. Can I do it multiple times, with different vouchers of course? It's not that I am a 'wine buff', as I'm not, it's because (a) I know what I like and am dubious about substitutions (both 'offered' and 'slyly imposed') so it's good to have a private 'reserve stock'; and (b) the miserable measures can mean a long wait for a refill when buying by the glass. My three free C&A 525 points' bottles will be enough for my 7 nighter but not my 12. On MSC Virtuosa I was served a double measure of Champagne each time without having to ask (after the first day). On Celebrity Silhouette I had my private reserve stock of (genuine) Prosecco in the Passport Bar fridge. Regards, Cublet
  4. Hello, I read this topic yesterday morning but there was obviously a blockage between my eyes and my brain because at around 9.00pm I suddenly thought "Hang on........." Does this mean that a single token, worth $14 towards a single drink, could be worth up to $40 on a single bottle of wine up to $100 or possibly more on a bottle costing over $200? The text on the 'Member Benefits' guide says "may also be used toward a discount off the purchase of any bottle of wine" - the word 'toward' to my simple mind means 'in part' and not 'wholly'. Can I do this more than once because RCI would be on to a loser? I would certainly do this not necessarily for the savings (but thank you very much) but to be able to buy a nominated bottle and not be palmed-off with some swill left over from the old Diamond 'free-for-all'. Regards, Cublet
  5. Hello, The original library has been converted to cabins. The current library used to be the cigar lounge - does it still smell? If you want a proper library then head for QM2: Regards, Cublet
  6. Hello, There was a number of tables put out with as selection of wines from the country whose national flag was pinned to the front of the table. Except for Australia and New Zealand whose flags were swapped-over. Regards, Cublet
  7. Hello, Il Secundo serves coffee in mugs and not cups & saucers. Actually it's also so weak that I'm not sure it is coffee. Service can best be described as 'variable' especially first thing in the morning. Regards, Cublet
  8. Hello, Many thanks - I was getting worried. The French twist I'm not so sure about. Enjoy the rest of your cruise. Regards, Cublet
  9. Hello, I've been looking at the deck plans on the MSC website and there's an awful lot of blank space showing. The good news though is that I can still see the Champagne Bar, but cannot see the Butcher's Cut and it's not showing on the list of dining venues. Any news would be helpful. Regards, Cublet
  10. Hello, When the current scheme was introduced, the value of a voucher on a UK sailing was $1 more than US: The current C&A Member Benefits table says it's $14 with exceptions for Singapore and Australia. So is the current value on a UK sailing still $14 (having lost the $1 extra) or has it risen to $15? I have reached-out to both Royal & C&A and expect either two different answers or none at all. Regards, Cublet
  11. Hello, I'd put MSC portion size on the same scale as P&O - substantially smaller than RCI. Regards, Cublet
  12. Hello, Sorrento's on Independence did a wonderful range of hot pies. Unfortunately for some they did not tell the muppets on the counter what the 'filling of the day' was so what they got was a lottery. Sad to say that I was such a 'regular' I knew what was in them by the colour of the foil. Also they did a roast sandwich/roll of the day with a freshly carved joint before your very eyes. Regards, Cublet
  13. Hello, But only 'real original' pizza. Hawaiian - nope. Pepperoni - nope. Regards, Cublet
  14. Hello, I said this would be the case when Richard Fain stepped down. I don't know how many of you good people follow the X board and the perturbation over increased costs and unannounced reduction in amenities/services post booking (in particular butlers) but I think Fain, being a lawyer, would have been more circumspect in his use of the 'once you've booked with us you're scr*w*d' provision in the contract. Regards, Cublet
  15. Hello, I thought the least said about pizza in general and Sorrento's pizza in particular the better. That was until my last Royal European cruise when I discovered: In France of all places. But that was probably a 'dig' from the French at Italian cuisine. Regards, Cublet
  16. Hello, If it's any consolation, I have trouble getting through to Royal Caribbean even after they answer the 'phone! Regards, Cublet
  17. Hello, Not in these here parts. Regards, Cublet
  18. Hello, I would pay for this. A shopping excursion with the executive chef to buy the ingredients for a meal just for us on the excursion to eat in an exclusive dining area. Unless it's lobster. Regards, Cublet
  19. Hello, I don't know - I think they copied Brian Rix's Whitehall Farces comedy and embodied them into their political system. Regards, Cublet
  20. Hello, Could we be missing the point? The charge is not for extra food but for the efficiency of the kitchen staff, that have moved onto other courses/things, to stop what they are doing to go back to dishes that have already 'gone'? Perhaps it's a hint at reduced numbers in the kitchen team. Regards, Cublet
  21. Hello, You would be amazed at what you can buy from vending machines outside the medical room on P&O! Regards, Cublet
  22. Hello, When was that as I've missed it? The only afternoon tea I've had (available to those in 'steerage') was a 'once and once only per cruise' Afternoon Tea in Murano with a three/four piece music ensemble. I happily pay €39 for Afternoon Tea in Reid's Hotel in Madeira each and every time we stop there. A Daniel Boulud cooking session would not interest me as, reading his book, I got to page 300 before I found anything I would want to eat! BUT I would be interested in a 'knife skills' class. Combining 'drive the ship' and Escape Room, we could have a room set as a dummy bridge and the 'captain' has to save the ship from dangerous situations. Maybe 'chief engineers' and 'mates' could play supporting roles. Who remembers "Left hand down a bit"? Regards, Cublet
  23. Hello, You are likely to be 'winning' even if so far you have not 'won'. Don't forget you/we are dealing with two separate companies not 100% linked. When you may have 'won' on Plusgrade's system, that fact needs to be given to X that then has to do all the necessary admin/paperwork near enough equivalent to a new booking and 'cancelling' your existing booking and letting you know. When/if X ever produces its own upgrade IT system (God help us!), all of this should be instantaneous and seamless. Regards, Cublet
  24. Hello, I like 'the good old days' on Independence when two large trolleys were wheeled into the DL, one to act as a counter and one groaning under the weight of drinks of all types being carried and a temporary bar was established. And when it was extremely busy the DL Concierge would act as an additional temporary waiter. Regards, Cublet
  25. Hello, The offer was still on offer on my last three Anthem cruises. However mine goes unused given the miserable selection of specialty restaurants. Regards, Cublet
