  1. Hello, The cheese selection in the buffet is far superior to the paltry rations served in the MDR. Ditto the biscuits/crackers. Regards, Cublet
  2. Hello, Observing from a distance whenever there's a problem, I'm sure the maintenance crew are perfectly capable of breaking the machine themselves without the assistance of child passengers. Regards, Cublet
  3. Hello, I hope I have not misunderstood what you are saying. Whilst you can 'status match' between RCI & X subject to ceilings listed above, you don't get the points. So say you are DP on RCI, you will be Elite on X but with zero points and you will have to start earning them, from nothing, on X in order to progress to Elite Plus and Zenith. (All that is, of course, subject to including just your Summit points but for this argument it only confuses the principle.) So in this context, making DP on Royal will not affect your X status, moreover staying on Royal to achieve DP will delay you starting to accumulate points on X in order to progress up the X Captains' Club hierarchy. (I'm going to start a movement to move the apostrophe to where it belongs!) Regards, Cublet
  4. Hello, Wrong thread but on-topic - or rather what this topic has morphed into. Reaching Pinnacle on RCI, one of the 'goodies' presented to you at (actually after) the recognition upper tier C&A meeting is said to be Champagne. Oh no it isn't! Regards, Cublet
  5. Hello, What the number or ratio is, I do not know. But solo pricing is limited to 'something' after which the double occupancy rate is applied. I experienced this once myself when all available 'solo occupancy' cabins had been booked, and it was 'pay double or forget it'. Regards, Cublet
  6. Hello, I'm very sorry but I do not remember. Regards, Cublet
  7. Hello, Last month on Silhouette, the only things self-serve were drinks from the various coffee, water and juice machines. Regards, Cublet
  8. Hello, Last year on Silhouette during the 'around the UK staycations' the double page MDR menu had drinks on the left hand page and food on the right. The left hand page was headed (near enough as) 'Wines by the glass included in the Premium Drinks package' and top of the list were two real Champagnes. At the same time, give or take a week, MSC had at least three Champagnes by the glass included in their Premium Plus drinks package. I'll find out what Cunard does in May next year. Regards, Cublet
  9. Hello, I think they need to find another word to describe the charge. I for one look upon the word 'supplement' as being an additive not a multiplier. Regards, Cublet
  10. Hello, One of the things I noticed in May & June on both DL & SL machines is someone had turned-off the automatic rinsing feature. This cleans-off any of the grounds that have stuck to the brewing unit and if too much becomes stuck then the whole shebang gets clogged-up and stops. And it's very messy to unclog. Regards, Cublet
  11. Hello, The Concierge fizz does have some small benefit to me: It is gratefully accepted by my neighbour for looking after my cat whilst I'm away. Regards, Cublet
  12. Hello, No they don't. To get semi skimmed you would have to mix regular and skimmed in the ratio of 1:3. Actually I'm not sure it's even an American thing. I mistakenly thought the milk labelled 'Half and Half' was a mix of regular and skimmed but it was only on these pages I discovered it was half milk and half cream. Regards, Cublet
  13. Hello, Apart from the fact that you then have two menus from which to choose. Regards, Cublet
  14. Hello, The SL & DL coffee machines are a bit like computer programs - garbage in, garbage out. DL this year on Anthem they were using Illy beans whereas in SL they were using Lavazza - and much better for it. Both wrongly use regular milk when the machine's instruction clearly state to use semi-skimmed as the fat in regular milk clogs the machines arteries. Sadly neither seem to be cleaned as regularly as I used to see on Indy/Adventure/Navigator/Explorer when in UK. The small excuse for a sink in the DL is totally useless for washing-out the brewing unit that might explain why it is not done. Regards, Cublet
  15. Hello, Last month on Silhouette it was on embarkation day but finished by 13.30. Last year it was on the first sea day and I, for one, couldn't see why they bothered. Regards, Cublet
  16. Hello, I don't disagree with you. What I am questioning is the oft-quoted 'algorithm' when I think it's just a finger in the air. Regards, Cublet
  17. Hello, The worst pink fizz I have ever tasted was Russian Pink 'Champagne' - but that was in the days prior to the break-up of the Soviet Union. Given Russia's current foray westwards it might be able lay claim to own real Champagne before long. Regards, Cublet
  18. Hello, Based on the size of my tip I would have thought so. Regards, Cublet
  19. Hello, I think the RoyalUP is an exercise in smoke and mirrors supplemented with a good dose of BS. The price on RCI's website is 'the price' (E&OE) whereas the RoyalUP website is Plusgrade's that is only updated periodically. How do I know this? OK, this is for Celebrity, but I cancelled a X cruise three days out and rebooked because of a massive price difference. For those three days the 'old' booking was still live on Plugrade (with the previous/existing upgrade costs) whereas the new booking was not there. The 'massive price difference' was a 56% reduction and if there was any logic to the pricing structure then the up bid prices should be reduced by a similar amount otherwise those bidding were overpaying twice - first on the original price at which they booked and secondly on historical differences on cabin grade prices that were not updated. Regards, Cublet
  20. Hello, You misunderstand. The Bar Manager was a guy in a suit and white shirt that you see walking about the place and doing nothing in particular - and certainly not serving. The bar staff, black waistcoats & shirts, once they understood what I was asking for, were good people. Regards, Cublet
  21. Hello, Whilst this is true, for as long as there is no single meeting place nor nibbles of varying temperatures and quality, then the only people affected by having Day #1 Happy Hour would be the bar staff. They would be serving anyway so the only difference between having and not having HH would be the account being charged - the Pax or the loyalty programme. Regards, Cublet
  22. Hello, The OP said "later this year", but not how much later. If it's the TA and/or what follows in October then posting #2 from wrk2cruise is correct. If it's before the TA then this posting is correct. I would also add that there is a B2B lunch - though not much to shout about. Regards, Cublet
  23. Hello, I think that distribution to the cabins remains as before, but having piles of them outside Guest Relations has gone. Regards, Cublet
  24. Hello, I cannot speak for what you have in the US, but here we have a TA that is 100% owned by Royal even though it's not included in the TA's name. Regards, Cublet
  25. Hello, See my previous post: Whilst the bar staff are not responsible for what is on board, the bar staff alone are responsible for what they pour. Regards, Cublet
