When do we apply for Nexus renewal?
burnabyjean replied to Barwick Cruiser's topic in Canadian Cruisers
It used to be six months before your current expiration, but with the backlog they've changed it to one year. We applied February 6 this year and are still in the "pending review" stage. I would get on it ASAP! -
We spent three days in Paris post-cruise last year. We had lunch at Madame Brasserie at the Eiffel Tower. It was very expensive (but less than dinner time), but SO worth it. We enjoyed it immensely. The first photo is the view from our table at lunch and the second photo was taken while waiting for the elevator to go up.

Has anyone used italytours.eu recently? Looking for recommendations
burnabyjean replied to angelik's topic in Italy Ports
We're not sailing until December, so I'm just in the planning stages. I haven't approached them yet, but I just wanted a rough idea of what we might be looking at. Thanks for the response! -

Would you mind telling how much the two person tour was? Thanks. -
A friend of ours has a criminal conviction and has to do a waiver every 5 years in order to enter the US. I don't know how long it takes to get one of these, but this is the website with the information: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/admission-forms/form-i-92-application-advance-permission-enter-nonimmigrant

Not Miami, but I was able to roam with Koodo while on the ship and docked in Fort Lauderdale.

There are many different types of Aloha shirts. My husband has many and I think he looks just fine in them. If others judge him as classless, so be it!

We used a company called Roissy VTC (https://roissyvtc.fr/). They were on time and everything went smoothly.

We do not live close to one of Viking's designated "hub" airports in Canada, so we would have to pay to get to one of those airports. We also want to go early or stay late after a cruise. By the time you add up Air Plus, a deviation fee, and the cost to get to the hub airport it's just not worth it to use Viking air. The only time we did was when air was included (Grand European).

There's a current one for the Mediterranean: WMD23 It offers significant savings and reduced air. I think it expires the end of this month.

My husband is a retired BC school teacher and I'm a retired BC college instructor. Both of our retirement associations have access to MEDOC through a group plan.

Embarkation day when ship is in port for two days
burnabyjean replied to TheEs2022's topic in Viking Ocean
We did our own "pre" before our Viking Homelands out of Bergen this past summer. The only direct flight from Edinburgh landed about 5:30 pm which got us to the ship about 7 pm. Absolutely no problems boarding at the time. In fact, it was quite lovely ... there was nobody else boarding, so the staff treated us like their most treasured guests! -
You're guaranteed the category you booked "or better". I've always got a better cabin with a guaranteed booking (other cruise line).

I live in BC and used the "travel exception" reason to get my 4th shot. I'm under 70 years old.

Princess App - Does Not Accept My Full Postal Code
burnabyjean replied to DHP1's topic in Canadian Cruisers
I just checked the app and it's showing the full postal code for us. -
I should also add that the pdf document can be uploaded to Arrivecan for proof of vaccination.
-
If you go to the following website and enter the data (health number, birth date, date of vaccination) you should be able to get the federal pdf proof. I did this for my husband as he doesn't have a cell phone. https://www.healthgateway.gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard

Ebags no longer makes the one I have, but this is very similar. It has qualified as the "personal item" on flights within North America. With restrictions tighter in Europe, I'm not sure how it would fare, but worth looking at. https://www.ebags.com/backpacks-bags/handbags-totes/belcourt-convertible-carryall/141771XXXX.html?dwvar_141771XXXX_color=Black&cgidmaster=backpack-bags-handbags-totes

This was a promo I received today (I'm from Canada, so pricing is Canadian): https://www.viking.com/promotions/ca/jul4-lp.html?contid=30434635942_1024447533&utm_id=email_vrc.54469922&cid=EML|RSP|999|vrc.54469922&utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=55presale

We're spending three days in Edinburgh before flying to Bergen for the Homelands cruise specifically to go to the Tattoo. It's a bucket list item for me!
