  1. So, if your friend decides not to go, you would then be on the hook for the single supplement. If she decides not to go after final payment, have her eat her cruise fare and just have her be a no-show to avoid the single supplement. If she needs to cancel for a covered reason, then the vacation protection will cover your single supplement. If she decides not to go prior to final payment, you can do a name change and take someone else. Basically, vacation protection only helps you in the case that she cancels for a covered reason. For her, if she cancels for any reason she can get 75% of her cruise fare back as FCC.
  2. On long itineraries they may serve breakfast/lunch on select days. Otherwise, it is always the seaday brunch (on sea days, obv) ending normally at noon and breakfast on port days ending much earlier.
  3. I have received an upgrade to a better cabin. Last year we upgraded from a spa interior to a spa suite for $500. You can bet I jumped on that without hesitating a second!
  4. I got an upgrade offer for my 4th floor unobstructed balcony on the Spirit to a 5th obstructed balcony for $404. I really don't think so! It is listed as a "premium" balcony (it appears bigger on the floor plans), but I don't think I want to "upgrade" to an obstructed balcony in Alaska.
  5. Is there any benefit to having them "officially" moved to the other cabin? The only reasons that I could fathom is to allow the other three to purchase Cheers or to take advantage of spa room access to the spa. Other than that, just get the extra key and move everyone around. Carnival doesn't care who sleeps where.
  6. For future reference (should this ever happen again), I do not recommend cancelling on the website. If you had called, they would have been able to provide better information for you regarding any expected refunds/future cruise credits. What's done is done and, unfortunately, I don't have any answers for you other than to say that most refunds have been taking somewhere around 10-14 days.
  7. to give you and them the benefit of the doubt, is it possible that they said "original sealed containers" (as in the cans/cartons cannot have been opened)?
  8. Soda and juices only. You may find a sympathetic bartender that will add some grenadine to make a Shirley Temple, but don't bank on it.
  9. I'm glad it all worked out for you. How frustrating ...
  10. @Nachosdelux was actually referring to a different definition of the word "steamer" (think of something yucky that would flush down the toilet). It was intended as a joke.
  11. https://www.carnival.com/legal/specials-terms-conditions.aspx Question - what is the final payment date for your cruise? You say you booked 71 days out. At that point, you would be inside the final payment date for any cruise. People book inside the final payment date period all of the time, you are just required to pay in full at the time of booking. Are you sure that you are comparing apples to apples with the cruise fare? Are there promotions that have an effect on the amounts? Did you complete the form within the 48 hour window? There are just so many variables that it's difficult for us to help you understand why it was denied.

  13. I always do the same thing with any left over gift card balances.
  14. Check out the special needs board here on CC. There is an entire section devoted to this topic.
  15. It may have been because of your use of the term "zero-proof," which would indicate that you wanted the zero-proof alcohol. Had you requested a "virgin" drink, I think you may have had a different response.
  16. IF you have booked your cruise with a TA. I never do and have cancelled many Fun Shops purchases made with discounted gift cards and always received a prompt refund.
  17. Absolutely, they are not refillable. The refund process would entail the retailer issuing a new gift card. Again, the original purchase price of the gift card has zero impact on the process. Debit sales $100, credit gift cards payable for $100. They are not refunding the original purchase price of the gift card, they are issuing a new one with the same VALUE equal to the amount redeemed on the gift card.
  18. It should have zero impact. The retailer has to account for the value remaining on the gift card, not the amount paid for it. Example, I purchase a gift card valued at $100 for $90. Debit cash for $90, debit discounts for $10, credit gift cards payable for $100 (amounts and account names made up for the example). When I purchase something with the gift card - debit gift cards payable for $100, credit sales for $100.
  19. Other than simple curiosity, the answer to that shouldn't have any impact at all. From the retailer's perspective, gift card value is the value, not the amount paid for it.
  20. I would doubt that the internet is capable of providing the type of bandwidth that he may need. Options: (1) Replace him with another cruiser (as long as you were the primary guest on the reservation). There may be a fee associated with this. (2) Cancel the entire reservation and accept the loss of funds. (3) Go on the cruise solo. Do not cancel him from the room or make any indication that you are aware the he is not coming. They will refund his port fees, taxes, and anything prepaid back to the original form of payment. If you search this board, this is called having him be a no-show.
  21. As long as you can navigate the steps on and off of the tender, you will be fine. The crew will help you carry your rollator on and off the tender.
  22. There is no absolute requirement to put anything on your S&S account. If it were me, I would just watch my account and go use the kiosk to add cash as necessary (you cannot continue to spend once you run out of money).

  24. Elegant nights will be (assuming it's a 6+ day itinerary) the second night and the second to last night. Lobster will only be served on the second elegant night. Khakis and button ups are more than fine for elegant night, making you one of the best dressed (although there are still some who go all out - and I enjoy seeing them, just not being them).
  25. Pre-covid you could stop "using" Cheers and pay for drinks before reaching the 15 limit, bypassing the 15 drink limit rule which, at that time, was only for Cheers.
