  1. Or you could take a one or three day repo in September (Seattle/Vancouver) and be platinum for your October cruise... This is really more useful getting to elite, which adds laundry and one-time minibar setups. Even if only one person has the status he/she gets the internet minutes or the elite perks. Our son did a one day solo followed by a three day solo (different ship to be legal), giving him 4 credits toward elite.

I wish that a 14 day cruise would count as two - this just doesn't seem fair. DH has two 7 day cruises, one 15 day cruise and one 14 day cruise which equals 4 cruises with a total of 43 days... Still Ruby.

  2. Well, I'm a platinum DCL passenger who won't pay the summer rates on DCL this time. I'm sailing Princess 12 nights through the British Isles in 2017.

I've got a few questions and I'd really appreciate some answers!

First- I'd planned on booking an outside room. I think it will be too cold to book a balcony. But, it appears most of the windows are obstructed?

Second- If I book a balcony and my best friend books a balcony next door, can they open the separator between the two balconies creating one?

Third- The sale Princess is currently running isn't great. I'm assuming if a better deal comes along before June 4 (final payment) I can call and change my deal? Is it that easy? Or do I have to cancel and rebook? (Just making sure we don't lose our side by side rooms) Thanks!

Re: Obstructed Ocean View rooms: check out this site "Best/Favorite Interior or Obstructed Oceanview Room on the Caribbean Princess?" - look for it in the Search box at the top of the page - and then scroll down to Caribbean Princess. The site shows which rooms have the least obstructions.

Princess sent me a form to use that requests final ticketing be done now and that I understand no further changes (price or dates) Can be made to our flight reservations. After I fax the form to Princess, they will issue tickets and Delta's records will show that everything is paid. Then I can contact Delta to purchase the Comfort Plus seats. I did this early ticketing when I used EZair for cruise to Australia.

Thanks for your answer. I will call Princess tomorrow and request that they pay AA fee. I'm also looking for my 50,000 AA miles to show up - have just charged my cruise and air to my new AA card :D

I just spoke with a Princess rep - if they pay for my ticket early it will no longer be flexible - no thanks :)

  5. DH and I are booked on Ruby Princess to Alaska in August. We booked EZ-Air as the fares were identical if booked directly with AA. We used EZ-Air to Canada last fall and were very pleased with the process. We paid off the cruise and air early - AA website says we have no travel booked - does Princess hold our money until final payment date and then pay the airline? I'd like to select our seats now...

  6. Just before a 2 week Hawaii cruise a few years ago I had severe back pain, was diagnosed with degenerative spinal disease, scoliosis, spinal stenosis, rheumatoid nodules, etc. I was feeling better but was afraid it would flair up again so I asked my daughter-in-law, a physical therapist, if I should take a walker on the cruise. She thought that would be a great idea, so I called my doctor and she agreed and wrote me a prescription. I ended up not needing the walker but had to get on and off the ship with it... The funny thing is that when we boarded our Southwest flight out of Dallas the Flight Attendant made me walk the walker back up the ramp to be gate checked  Good thing that I didn't really need it. It was right next to the door of the plane when I got off.

  7. DH and I were in Ketchikan 2 or 3 years ago and took the city bus to Potlatch and

Totem Bight parks. The two parks are basically next door to each other. The bus cost 50 cents pp each way - senior price and the park is free! We loved it, even in the rain - I had my own umbrella and they loaned one to DH. There were very few tourists...

  8. We have a cruise booked on another cruise line and if I pay it off early I will earn 30,000 frequent flyer miles with my new credit card. So, sometimes it does pay to pay early. Have booked cruises with several TA's and directly with cruise lines, our payment is always charged to our credit card when it's due, sometimes we're notified beforehand, sometimes not.

  9. Quote: "What is silly is arguing that lobster is served in the dining room on casual nights when it demonstrably is not."

DH and I were on a 14 night cruise Oct/Nov and lobster was served on a non-formal night along with either filet or beef wellington. One of the drink waiters in the lunch buffet told me what was on the MDR menu for the night and I said they probably posted the wrong menu as that was a menu for formal night but he was right! I was happy to see that there were 14 different menus on the 14 day cruise. One of my favorite things was gnocchi with mushroom sauce on the entree menu. I ordered an appetizer size as there was something else on the entree menu that I wanted too. I don't remember what was on the Anniversary menu...

  10. We haven't gotten the survey, but I'd vote for keeping formal nights. I would also vote to keep 2 formal nights for a 7 day cruise. There are too many people looking for excuses not to pack formal wear, if there was only one per 7 night cruise they surely wouldn't bother to ever bring formal wear! We always pack formal wear - the cost for checked baggage is just part of the package!!! I, too, feel the Maitre D's should enforce the dress code in the MDR - every night! Celebrity calls their non-formal nights Smart Casual.

  11. Love that the rooms are ready upon embarkation.

Really loved the Head Waiter singing "Time to Say Goodbye" on the last night of our CB cruise. He was wonderful!!!

I lost several items during our 2 week cruise - found them all at the service desk. Really appreciate the other passenger or crew member for turning my watch into the Lost and Found!

Loved the help I received at the Internet Cafe.

    Food was better than average.

I had a comical Halloween door sign on my cabin. One morning it was missing, I told my room steward and one of the other stewards further down the hall - it was back the next day. It was found 5 decks below ours - I can just imagine all the room stewards searching for it - don't know that for sure though. I had read on here about missing door signs so I put my cabin number and initials on the back of it.

Super wait staff in the MDR who remembered everyone's preferences at dinner.

Great Pub Lunches on our last two Princess Cruises.

Since we were cruising down the East Coast we were able to watch the World Series and Sunday Football games at several venues including in our room.

  12. Your agent called back the day after the email offer. Lots of people possibly called before she did for the offer. When we got upsell, we didn't have an agent (booked direct).Email came in late evening. I didn't wait till next day to call, I called and left a message right away.

Next morning, 8:05am I got my call back. I guess it pays to call as soon as email comes in, I must have been first.I asked which balconies were available and got a choice. Also Princess message says please call only once(not multiple times).

Of course none of us know why Princess took so long to return your agents call.

We had almost exactly the same experience. When I booked directly with Princess the agent asked if we'd be willing to move. I said I liked the cabin we'd picked but would consider the move. I'd picked an obstructed OV with a pretty good view. We were offered the upsell for less than $20 per day pp to a balcony on a 14 night cruise. I emailed with a yes as soon as I saw the email and then called - late at night, and got a call back early the next morning with a choice of cabins. I'm thrilled!!!

  13. Can we change our EZAir flight times on the day of departure without a penalty? We're booked on our return home on a very late flight and there is an earlier flight. I booked the flight at the same time I booked the cruise, directly with Princess. She put us on the later flight as Princess couldn't guarantee that we'd make the earlier flight... We're due to arrive in Houston at 7:00 AM and the first flight home is at 12:40 - the next one is at 5:40

  14. You won't see any differences in photos. This CB hysteria has reached ridiculous proportions, IMO. Back some time ago, someone made a bad review of her and, for some reason, it just snowballed. There is NOTHING major wrong with the ship (which the realistic reviews will tell you.) This situation has reached the point of comic farce.

DH and I are booked on CB. I read a few of the latest reviews today - three 2-star reviews are written by the same person!!! So, you can throw at least two of those out
