  1. Onboard credit (from any source) can't be applied toward the medical center nor for a deposit for a future booking. Those are the only exclusions of which I'm aware.
  2. Do you mean thorough? While not lax the security check in Brooklyn hasn't been what I'd note as "Very thorough." How did this time vary from previous embarkations? Just curious in anticipation of November...
  3. It came time for me to submit my shareholder credentials for onboard credit on my QM2 Caribbean trip in November. I pulled up the CCL page to verify the availability of the credit and noted that the contact information finally has an email address for US passengers. What's better, I received confirmation that the credit had been applied the same day I submitted the information.
  4. So tell me more about the worst table in QG.
  5. I've had over a dozen QM2 voyages and never experienced that either of these affected the table I was given. It could be that I wasn't paying attention and it could be that I generally book a Balcony (anywhere from Deck 4 to 11) but there really isn't a bad table in Britannia.
  6. Isn't guest 1 the 22 year old? The Main Guest or whatever they call it has rights to manage the booking overall including for the other guest(s). If you're logged in as Guest 1 you should be able to do whatever is required (I haven't done the health plan yet but I was able to review and approve the contract and COVID notification with and for my Guest #2 when I was logged in as me. AS far as I knowshe hasn't logged into the Personalizer yet.
  7. With regard to changes in denied boarding compensation, ordinarily I'd expect the cruise contract in effect at the time of booking to apply. My contract (I snapped off a copy at the time of booking) contains a clause in Paragraph 1 that reads "in the event of a conflict between the Carrier’s Coronavirus Disease 2019 (“COVID-19”) policies and procedures (hereinafter “COVID-19 Guest Protocols”) as described in Section 6, below, and as described on the Carrier’s website, the policies and procedures on the website control." Section 6 contains the language "any Guest denied boarding [due to a positive COVID test within 14 days of boarding] will be entitled to a future cruise credit equal in value to the amount Guest paid to the Carrier..." but the contract language quoted above says that this can be unilaterally changed after the fact. And it appears that it may have been. Edit: Oh, this is interesting. The contract in Manage Your Booking that we had to acknowledge on first accessing the booking has a different website link than the one I printed off, and the Manage Your Booking version refers to a nonexistent web page (404 error when trying to follow the link).
  8. For the benefit of others, this is a NY State issue, not an issue for Americans in general (I live in PA and have Cunard Care on my 20 November booking). But generally, if you are denied boarding due to a positive COVID test it appears that you'd need to rely on Cunard care or other purchased travel insurance (assuming that insurance has coverage for cancellation or denied boarding due to COVID)
  9. For nonrefundable credit it really doesn't matter. If you miss a port the port fees are credited to you account as refundable credit and this is used after your nonrefundable onboard credit is exhausted. Otherwise I don't know how you can tell which lump of onboard credit is which. I think it would only come into play if your onboard credit and your onboard spending are both less than the amount of gratuities. If you're sharing a stateroom and using different credit cards to settle the account some of the onboard credit is allocated between the occupants and some (shareholder and veterans) is applied completely to the account of the .qualifying passenger. If one of you is picking up most of the tab you could end up with the other passenger in this situation. There have been times that I've had a large amount of nonrefundable onboard credit and had to go shopping to use it up. In this case there was never an issue about having to contribute toward crew gratuities (but on the other hand most of my recent bookings have come with Cunard paying the gratuities as a booking perk).
  10. Y'all are just staying too far up. 😏 I'm sure that my 4-digit stateroom number and three-letter deck will print just fine.
  11. It's not announced. It was suspended during COVID and I haven't heard whether it has restarted. You need to be at (if I remember correctly) the Purser's desk at 8 AM on the first sea day to register your interest. There's a cost - before COVID it was $125 but there are some keepsakes associated with the tour. Previously there was also a free tour of the main galley - basically just a walkthru open to all comers. Worth it if offered but not really worth multiple trips on multiple voyages. I think this was also suspended due to COVID.
  12. I just noticed that over the weekend. My personalizer shows that I have a St Lucia excursion booked on the day the Day view says we're in St Kitts. The actual minor issue with this is that which nights are Gala nights is only shown in the Day view. One of them seems to be either Thanksgiving Day (a port day) or the night before (sea day), either of which makes sense. But knowing whether it's going to be on the port day would help us plan that day.
  13. As a fan of BZ sheltered balconies on 5 forward I've had BC muster station many times. It's in Carinthia lounge as bluemarble notes.
  14. I now have three dining options - early, late, or open.
  15. QM2's 13-night Caribbean cruise in November is slated to have four Gala nights.
  16. For what it's worth I just purchased a tuxedo jacket and trousers at Jos A Bank for around $300 (plus alterations, which adds a bit). This was a sale price, about $100 off the list price. (I have a tux but was beginning to be concerned that the jacket was no longer comfortable when buttoned, if you catch my drift). As I understand it the rental price will be based on the number of formal (gala) nights in your itinerary. For 12 nights I expect that you'd have four gala nights. The rental price might not be much below my purchase price.
  17. For what it's worth, as a returning Cunard passenger I've received a full bottle of Pol in a standard balcony cabin on every embarkation after the first.
  18. Cunard charges a single Britannia traveler 175% of the per-person double occupancy rate. I think Grills is 200% of the per-person rate but I don't have direct experience. I'm pretty sure that this is applied to the advertised rate; you're only charged the actual port fees, etc applicable for one person. If curious you can make a trial booking (up to where payment is requested) online and see how the fares compare.
  19. Today I finally gave up and contacted my TA, who advised that I needed to talk to Cunard directly since it was a Cunard IT issue and not something booking-related that he could/should manage himself. I phoned the 800 number and was connected with no waiting, and the Cunard CSR was able to enter my emergency contact information with no difficulty. She did say that they're aware of the issue.
  20. Since that company books travel you still may or may not be permitted to mention it. That's why I think it's interesting...
  21. I know that it can't be mentioned, which is interesting since I believe the one you're referring to is the one that owns Cruise Critic!
  22. I've never booked above Britannia and although the BC dining upgrade would be nice, like you I can't reconcile the increased fare to that enhancement.
  23. And for that small upcharge you get a balcony.
  24. Yeah, that shouldn't fly. "We reserve the right to unilaterally change the contract without recourse." If the passenger has the right to cancel for refund upon a change in the terms it might be different.
