  1. Wow...Disembarked without telling Princess? I wonder if they did that to avoid the PVSA? DIdn't security notice that were talking off their luggage? Hmmm...very suspicious. You captured a perfect ānuenue. Colors were brilliant. Have a safe journey home. From your reports, you really do know how to enjoy the beauty of the islands.
  2. Disclaimer: I can only comment on Window Suites on the Grand Princess and the Caribbean Princess (both Grand Class ships). I know absolutely nothing about the Royal Class ship Window Suites that are in the front of the ship (on a higher deck). I would suspect that the Window Suites on the Discovery would have similar outlets, unless they are all hard wired in. Grand Class Window Suites are midship/Deck 6. * They have 2 single European outlets behind the bed (connected or twin). * They have a lamp on the long desk along the 2 windows. There is one European outlet tucked away under the desk. * They have one US outlet behind the television (at least on the Grand). * They have one European outlet for the table lamp near the sofa. * They have one European outlet AND two US outlet on the other desk. I believe there are two US outlets, but they are so close together it is difficult to use with power charging blocks. I have never had a need for an extension cord when traveling on any Grand Class ship (even in an inside cabin). There was always an outlet behind the bed.
  3. I did not have any problems bringing in medications for up to 2 weeks when I was there in March. https://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/policy/health-medical/pharmaceuticals/01.html
  4. Window Suites on the Royal Class ships (Discovery Princess) are not the same as a Grand Class ship. After posting my comment, I thought of going back to clarify that, but was too late. I can not speak for a Royal Class ship. I can only surmise that there has to be an outlet for the lamps by the bed. I don't know if they are hardwired into the wall. If there are outlets, they will be European outlets that would still require an adapter.
  5. Haven't tried it since the restart, but looks about the same. Room Service was the only place to get a decent chocolate cake....not something fancy.
  6. You need to try a Window Suite. There are at least 6 outlets scattered around the room.
  7. @Ombud I like lemon (and not key lime). But that is from room service. Toss up between Chocolate Cake and Key Lime Pot. May have to order both. Thanks
  8. Yes, you will get 2 loyalty points. But once you make it to Elite, it is pretty much useless.
  9. Cheese makes everything better! Buffet desserts look amazing, until you bite into them. I keep trying, but haven't found "the one" yet.
  10. @GoHuskies! Thank you for the clarifications. I can understand your concerns about the food in the Buffet. I have never been a fan of this venue. I've always managed to find "something" but stay away from lots of the dishes. On the other hand, I have found foods in the other venues to be excellent to outstanding. I am not a foodie by any stretch of the imagination AND I also need to pre-order my MDR meals. Could you be more specific (dishes, flavors, etc) on what was not to your liking? We are all second guessing your review. This is a good opportunity for you to go on another cruise and see if there is a difference.
  11. Interesting observation. I am not sure what "My theory is that the crew and the officers were all non-Americans who brought foreign tastes aboard." Asian? Spices? Heat? European?
  12. There is always an electrical outlet near the bed lamps. You will need a multi-outlet adapter so you can plug in your CPAP machine and bed lamp. Your CPAP is dual voltage so you won't need a converter.
  13. I have a VERY long way to go before I break even with my first set of 100 stocks. Second set, I'm good. Together...I am still losing money every day. Granted, I have made up some of the "loss" with ShareHolder OBC. Not complaining. Will hold on to the stocks until I no longer cruise.
  14. It is a hit and miss. I have yet been able to book the complimentary suite specialty dinner on the app pre-cruise. I know of others who were able to do this. Well, that was a bust. Went to my personalizer to see if I could do this. It says reservations were moved to App. Went to app/Dine my Way. No place to reserve specialty dining option. I was just curious. I will wait until I am onboard, as always. One more time. I was able to find "make reservations" on web based App. So I tried. Showed my payment method, but did not show zero balance due. I clicked...it was reserved...but did not know if I was going to be charged or not...so deleted. I will book on board. Really shouldn't be this difficult.
  15. oops...It IS Korean "won". Thanks @SimplyMarvie. I should pay attention to details more carefully.
  16. At some point on your way back to LA, you may encounter a weakening Hurricane Calvin. Fortunately, you will be south of him on your way to Ensenada. The seas may be a little rougher than normal. Malama Pono https://www.kitv.com/news/top-stories/tracking-hurricane-calvin-calvin-intensifies-into-a-category-3-storm/article_b874ce86-2257-11ee-9115-e39c969f527f.html
  17. Non status cabin mates have the same priority boarding status (lounge/check in) as P, E, S. Only one needs the boarding ticket. But...I saw on social media today, that as of August 1, there will only be 3 lanes: Green, Blue, and mobility. Does that mean that if I am Elite without a Medallion, I would have to stand in the Blue lane? No more priority lane?
  18. That is so much more appetizing than those "sundaes" you get with the beverage package.
  19. @20165 Consider it, not as a mortgage, but a deduction from your sons' inheritance. They will be the beneficiaries. @memoak I am still waiting to hear from someone regarding the "new" service for suite passengers on the Grand Class ships. There was a "hint" that it would be part of the separation of duties between the Loyalty Officer's and Future Cruise Department.
  20. I tried to get Wun from a bank. Not an easy task. You have to have an account. Then there is an exchange fee on top of exchange rate. I looked into all kinds of avenues. IF...you have a major bank that you do business with, then maybe worth a shot. I honestly do not know what others have done, but having small change for the one day in Korea is worth it. I didn't try getting Wun from an airport exchange booth. Check your roll call. See if there is anyone on a previous cruise who might be changing money for themselves. Glad you have a cane. Even though I am quite mobile with new knees, I still travel with my cane.
  21. I hadn't even considered a blizzard. But weather is so strange now a days. Packing for the heat of summer. Will be much harder to pack for winter with luggage restrictions.
  22. I wonder if "they" ever got caught or stopped?
  23. They start removing breakfast items around 10 AM. They remove lunch items around 8/9 PM and replace with cheese and fruit. I see that no one has mentioned soups of the day. The salads were good (beet/oranges, greens, others)
  24. I'm on the October repo from Quebec to FLL in October. But let me give you my "strategy". I had the same issue with picking a cruise for Japan Cherry Blossoms. So I booked all three cruises in March/April. When it came down to final payment, I had to choose one 90 days out. I scoured the internet in hopes of finding predictions. Sites gave me "normal" and weather probabilities (drought, rain, temperature, etc). I wavered between this date and that date for a few days then went with my gut. We would be heading to the southern most port then head back up north. Somewhere along the way, we "should" see cherry blossoms since they would peak in the south first. I nailed it! Perfect week. The Cherry Blossoms were at their peak at every port. The week before was wet and just beginning to open. The week after, many of the blossoms had fallen. 99% luck.
  25. Let's balance this out. I have not had any problems with something added to my account which I did not purchase (5 cruises). But then again, I have not ordered a drink at a crowded venue. I have ordered drinks in the MDR. I have asked for bottled water from the bars. Could it happen? Yes Does it happen? Yes Is it malicious (some random person using your name and cabin number by walk up? Rare/none Could it happen that you were not charged and someone else was? Yes Does this happen ONLY to people who do not have a beverage package? Does this happen ONLY to people who have beverage package? Bottom line...check your onboard folio frequently.
