  1. You win. We just had dust turds big enough to pick up (didn’t), small scarps of paper, Bobbie pin, safety pin, dirty counter tops.
  2. Captain and navigator did a fantastic job of staying away from the storm. Headed far east before turning north. Very calm seas since leaving NYC. Absolutely nothing around the Boston Cruise Terminal. Uber is about $15 to Faneuil Hall. A couple of nights ago, the guest entertainer was Tom Franck, pianist/comedian. I’ve seen him before. More showman than piano. Last night was Elvis tribute with Dan Middlesitch. I didn’t attend. CB is doing a good job of off Princess Theater entertainers with hypnotists, singers, comedians in Explorers Lounge. Not my cup of tea.
  3. I think, this is for @Ombud The chocolate cake of days of yore, is no longer. You know the one: devil food chocolate cake with milk chocolate frosting. Replaced with… This is the room service image. I was hopeful. This is what arrived.
  4. No more breakfast tag cards left in the room (per current steward). Everything g is paperless. Suggested I pick up the phone and call room service for menu items and suite canapés. Hmmmm….did he not the the “message”.
  5. and the latest and greatest… You can not apply a FCDeposit to the 50% on board promotions.
  6. How will this apply to mini-bar change outs? Will there be a place to order exchanges? Room Steward new added on job?
  7. 22 pages and I can’t keep up with the posts (4-5 pages a day). More confused with each additional post. So many unknowns. Maybe someone in the know can answer. 1. If I use the app or tv, will Room Service be free without the package? 2. Will none of these charges apply to Suites? 3. Specialty free dining with Premier was a bust. So were the 2 desserts a day and the exercise classes. Will Alfredo’s etc bite the dust too? Not all ships have these extras. ****4**** When will Elite/Platinum see a % reduction on packages for our WiFi/internet perk? Princess opened a Pandora’s box with this …not thought through again…news release. 22 pages and increasing and it still is not very clear.
  8. No issues with my toilet or air conditioner. Refrigerator is still not cooling, but my ice bucket is filled twice a day. Bound to happen…got this note tonight.
  9. Stopped reading on page 4. Wow. No more paper hanging tags. Gone on 7/22/23 cruise. Paper saver. Must call RS, if you can get through. Or maybe the app. Haven’t tried either.
  10. If you love the Royal Class ships, a smaller older ship may not be your cup of tea. I’ve never heard of the Caribbean Princess doing Alaska. My choice: Coral Princess
  11. I ate in the small Diamond MDRs. Once had an alcove on Emerald. Also quite pleasant. I wish they would isolate Reserve Dining Rooms on the larger ships. At 6 pm….it’s very loud. Don’t help that I am also wearing hearing aids.
  12. Two observations. Post pandemic cruising was fantastic with 60% occupancy. That quickly changed with very full sailings. I am not bothered by those milling around the public area. Very noticeable in overflowing production shows. Second, the noise level in the MDR/Reserve dining is loud. Very difficult to carry on a decent conversation.
  13. Disclaimer: I have never been noted for being sequential. In fact, being a math teacher forced this random person to be more organized. Chaos is a sign of a brilliant mind. lol.
  14. Too late to edit Captain’s letter. You don’t have to download this one. Have not seen any “compensation” (not expecting any), but no report of port fees yet.
  15. Wednesday was NYC. I choose not to get off the ship in the heat. Instead, I enjoyed the views from afar. The Red Hook ferry seems to be just outside the terminal. I never saw a ferry come/go. We were given customs forms that were due on Newport day. An officer told me: A couple of officers will be working with Canadian CBP at arrival to Saint John. Canada will face to face with a few Canadians. Canada will do face to face with a select group of passengers. Ship will be cleared before disembarkation for the day.
  16. The Captain made an announcement while I was at dinner. His first words out was asking all of us to give him our full attention. There was an immediate hush/silence by all. He explained that the weather was not favorable for tendering in Newport due to wind conditions. They would be suspending this port for a direct sail to Boston. We would then have a full day in Boston compared to the abbreviated itinerary change. Unfortunately, rain is expected to be 100%. I was expecting a rough night. He must have taken the ship far enough out because it was a great sleep. We are still sailing at a reduced speed due to whale migrations. The ocean is a little more turbulent than the past few days. CB is handling the transit very well. Back to previous programming (NYC) in a few. Newport.pages
  17. I didn’t read all of the posts. Current up to yesterday afternoon, 7/25/23. Promotion was suppose to end in March. Book on board for 2023…select cruises…..50% off. Full payment due at reservation. Book for 2024….select cruises…$200 non-refundable credit toward fare (no obc/no FCD) Must be booked for person/s onboard only. Not applicable to suites. OBC for shareholder or military can be applied. Sample: Grand Princess repo Vancouver to SFO 2024, 3 days. Mini-suite reserve collection. $1122 base, plus PVP and fees and taxes. Sure did not seem like a bargain to me. Can be turned over to a TA. 2 pages of cruises. Maybe 100 to select from.
  18. Suite on the Caribbean Princess. Dirty carpet and counter tops. Barely working, if that, refrigerator. No champagne or wine. Had a coupon for first night in specialty restaurant. Suite Minibar delivered after sail away. Had trouble ordering change out to undelivered Elite bar. Fruit basket in room and canapés delivered at sail away (new selections). Floral bouquet delivered a couple of days into cruise. Suite and/or elite amenities? Eye shades, shower cap, chap stick. No bar of soap or small tubes of anything. Previous cruise, I was told suite bed linens changed every day. Haven’t observed otherwise…he’s pretty stealthy. 2 bottles of water after the first night.
  19. Suite passengers do not have reserved seats in the theater. Only for Premier. The small amount of seats seem to be sufficient. They are releasing more than half 5 minutes before show time. People are lining up against the wall for freed seats by intent or accident.
  20. But I am getting ahead of myself. Where was I? Second Sea Day (4) Enrichment lecturers: I have heard better, I have heard worse. There is a destination expert and a historian onboard. Watching the destination videos in the cabin. Also attended a superb Officer presentation in the Explorations Lounge. He was a junior officer from Ireland. He was a hoot. It was on Navigation. Hearsay says I did not miss much about the Rhythms in Harmony. Broadway Ballroom was excellent. Sat next to a mom of one of the cast members. We discussed the lack of seats in the Princess Theater. Her thoughts were that it would be very hard on the cast to do 3 performances a night. Maybe…..2 performances back to back days might be a good thing. I’ll give up a comedian. Standing room only for both 7:30 and 9:30 shows (by 15 minutes prior). Extra evening guest artist was in the Explores Lounge. Music/Motown..not..from the 60’s was a “screamer”. I left after 2 songs. Yesterday’s Pub Lunch was held in the MDR.
  21. Internet has been okay. It was down on embarkation day for a couple of hours. And one other time (can’t remember which day for a couple of hours). It’s spotting in some places on the ship until it switches over to the closest router. This is the speed while in NYC today.
  22. This is a 13 day voyage. Plus day before travel and who knows when I will get home.
  23. Can never remember premier or premium lol. Yes, more expensive package. That’s it. Not many rows. Will finally get to meet @Ken the cruiser yay!
