  1. The Assistant Manager in Reserve Collection (can't speak for others) has a printed menu spreadsheet in his/her pocket. I have been able to ask what the "theme" was, or maybe a dish or two, or even which specialty dessert/dish (s)he was going to make during the week so I could plan where I wanted to dine. It was prefaced with....subject to change, depending on food availability. Or what the chef prepares/sets out for the specialty dessert. In general, menus are printed in advance. I have viewed a menu a day or two into the future. Have not asked for anything more than that. It is easier to wash a cloth napkin/utensils verses trying to dispose of paper waste. They have all the water they need. I agree with you regarding trash cans in public spaces. You will see them out and about when the weather is rough and barf bags are taped to the railings. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
  2. Many of Victoria port calls are short and late at night. Many maker for Princess to run short tours of Butchart Gardens (only way to get there). Long run from Alaska to Victoria (thus arriving late). Reduced speed during the summer for whales. And the list continues
  3. Thank you for coming back with updates. I am so sad to see that every time you chime in, there is a new "problem". I sure hope your friend gets the advice he needs from a reputable agency. You have done your best as a friend and are wise to stay out of it. I don't know how solid your friendship is, but it is surely being tested. My understanding is that independent insurance needs to be bought at time of booking. I have also heard that it needs to be bought 100 days before sailing. I know that my insurance with Princess is tied into Final Payment.
  4. Jones Act is for maritime commerce: The Jones Act is a federal law that regulates maritime commerce in the United States. The Jones Act requires goods shipped between U.S. ports to be transported on ships that are built, owned, and operated by United States citizens or permanent residents. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/j/jonesact.asp Passenger Vessel Services Act pertains to cruise ships. The coastwise law pertaining to the transportation of passengers is known as the Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA), https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2019-Sep/PVSA-ICP.pdf
  5. I apologize if I wasn't clear. I was on the Caribbean finishing up one New England Cruise. I would be returning to the Caribbean for another New England Cruise in just a few months. I was inquiring about the future cruise Embarkation Night Suite dinner. I had read that it was "possible" so wanted to check with the Assistant Manager before getting off the first cruise. I do a lot of "what ifs",
  6. I was on a previous cruise...and asked the Assistant Manager of the Crown Grill if I could change my day for another cruise a couple of months away. We would be arriving to the ship later (overnight in Quebec). He told me I could ask when I arrived for my next cruise. It has something to do with a "different" accounting system for complimentary suite dinners on Embarkation Day. I never had the chance to see if this could be done since we decided we wanted to relax for a nice dinner since we would not be going out to the city that night. All you can do is ask.
  7. @OldSalt73 I disagree with #6. I ordered my passport with extra pages…. regret the extra bulk/thickness only one country stamped my passport in 8 years Korea wouldn’t even stamp it, just pasted a sticker on the back and it has already fallen off. lol
  8. I am re-reading OP's original post. With the "new" information (We would be booking a 7 day cruise in a mini suite). OP would use $100 FCD to book the cruise, thereby reducing final payment by $100. OP would then receive ONLY $50 OBC per person for a 7 day mini-suite. OP would not receive $150 OBC per person. That is still a good return on initial investment.
  9. @memoak I am not sure what insurance you have when you travel (no need to disclose). I have Platinum Princess Vacation Protection/AON, Medicare, and a secondary. Medicare denied (outside of US) My secondary covered 100% medical visit (although AON said it would have covered whatever secondary didn't) AON covered Medical Records costs. I was also reimbursed for Covid isolation (2 days).
  10. If OP wants more than one device that comes with the PLUS but doesn't want to spring for the Premier....can he/she upgrade just the wifi order and get 4 devices plus PLUS?
  11. I hope, as brand new passengers to Princess, someone offered you a referral. Too late now, but ... you can do a referral for someone ELSE new to Princess. Each will get $25 OBC. https://www.princess.com/html/global/cc/referral-reward/faq.html There is absolute no risk involved with FCDs. You use it for a reduced deposit or you get the $100 back after a year. You may also extend the expiration date online. Wise to purchase more than one. Recently, deposits have been more than $100. This makes a FCD "valuable" in savings and getting OBC.
  12. So many unanswered questions: Do you have insurance? (Princess/secondary/independent) Are you still on the ship? Did you obtain a Medical History Record (not the same as Medical Center Visit Invoice) Were you charged for the medical center visit or did Princess absorb this accident cost? She might be reimbursed for trip interruption if the doctor requested that she remain in the cabin for a few days.
  13. ALSO: That early in the morning (Hawaiian Time), the sun will be very low on the horizon. This morning, it was still "dark" at 6 AM HST. Sunrise was at 6:30 AM this morning.
  14. If you do a quick google search: Solar Eclipse 2024 Hawaii...you will pull up quite an assortment of links. Here is just one example: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/honolulu?iso=20240408#:~:text=Eclipses visible in Honolulu%2C Hawaii,Apr 8%2C 2024 Solar Eclipse Keep in mind that there will be a three hours difference between California PDT and Hawaii Standard Time. You will be setting your clocks back an hour each day for 3 out of the 5 days (I think that's the correct direction). In UTC-8: Pacific Standard Time (PST). It covers the western region of the country: California, Washington, part of Nevada, Oregon, and Idaho. This time zone also covers part of Mexico and Canada. It belongs to one of the four time zones in the contiguous United States. The reference city for PST is usually Los Angeles. In UTC-9: Alaska Standard Time (ALKS). This time zone is shared with the Gambier Islands of French Polynesia. In UTC-10: Hawaiian-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST), also known as Hawaii Standard Time (HST). And then you have to factor in DST Give yourself a good buffer of time. The one thing in your favor is that it doesn't happen quickly. You might just hit it correctly. These are some local news channels that my cover it: KITV 4 KHON 2 Hawaii News Now The Star Advertiser KGMB I was on the Golden leaving San Francisco when I happened upon a partial solar eclipse. It was SOOOOO cold on the Lido Deck. Another passenger was prepared with a welder's glass. We were the only two interested in the event. Good Luck
  15. Friend when down to San Diego to get an immediate passport for flying to England….not life or death but immediate travel.
  16. There are no butlers on the Enchanted. Maybe ask the concierge?
  17. If you have Plus or Premier, you will be able to order from room service (MDR) without being charged $5. If you do not have Plus or Premier, you will be charged $5 for each room serve order placed by phone. Ocean Now charge of $14.99 is not applicable to room service by phone. Two different charges. Suites do not have "priority" to order from Room Service by phone.
  18. I don't have a Princess CVP....but have an awesome Travel Agent (which I am unable to name on Cruise Critic). Met a friend who came through my town on a cruise ship. We got to talking about my favorite ship. Got "talked" into at least looking at the next cruise she is going to be on. Came home and researched cruise. Texted TA at 7:30 PM on a Friday night. She placed a hold for a specific cabin by 10 PM (same day). Received booking invoice too. We are in different time zones. This was her time zone stamps. Now, that is service.
  19. I will book Plus on a longer than 7 day voyage for the convenience. In a suite, you will get a minibar that you can exchange out for like (alcohol/alcohol, soda/soda, all soda, or a cheap bottle of wine). Plus you get 2 bottles of water a night. At breakfast, you can order most specialty coffees. If that is enough for you, you won’t need a package. The difference between separately purchasing Medallion Net plus crew appreciation and Plus is a couple of drinks.
  20. Do check ahead to see if you are required to have a reservation for Haleakala. Guri Guri is island made. While there. buy yourself a small bag of Maui Potato Chips. It's a LONG walk out of the port, but the mall is close.
  21. Your chances of spotting the eclipse will be next to nothing. If there is a chance, the regular crew will know something. Don't bother with the higher uppers.
  22. Would you mind describing a "typical" package trip you have used? Many of us are curious as to how a trip went for someone who purchased a Princess Promotion.
  23. It doesn’t matter if you are sailing in the same cabin, as long as you are on the same ship. You will need birthday and cabin number (I forgot specifics). If you purchase a 4 device plan, neither of you would have to sign out or get bumped off. Unfortunately, I’ve found the I get kicked off my iPhone while never on my iPad.
  24. My friend could do it on her android. Different phone, different cruise. Her cabin mate could not do it on her iPhone. App specific to Princess fail?
  25. If you are referring to your Medallion Order or accessories on the app, I was not able to delete my items in the cart unless I called Princess. Even then, they had to place the order then cancel. I did not think this was very efficient.
