  1. I would love to see them bring back LA-Alaska, RT. We did that in 2019 and it was great. We did the 10 day. out of SF this year and it was great too, but not worth the flying and hotel stay for me
  2. On our summer cruise on Ruby, it was held in club fusion…… which is a 😩They did have some live music though, which was nice.

yes, please let us know link
  4. Thanks for posting such a great review. We were on that cruise also and have a similar high opinion. As you said, the crew is exemplary. Such great service with a smile. The covered pool was great for lap swimming (and nice and warm). Club class was wonderful. WiFi was in our opinion pretty good. Certainly much better than a recent experience on a coastal with Discovery. My night time activity is listening to music and I greatly enjoyed the party band “Ocean Blvd.” and the “extravaganza duo”. (Violins)
  5. Frequently (if not every night) there was a selection of Indian food. Very tasty, And as a diagnosed celiac, I appreciate the gluten free nature (but always check) of Indian food.
  6. Well, today things have returned to normal. A beautiful sunny day, some gentle rolling.
  7. As we approach 6 P.M. here on board, it has been a day with lots of rolling, but not really any pitching motion. Not as bad (or as good for my heavy weather friends) as I expected after hearing the captains initial report. All activities still ongoing , although there are definitely fewer people around. Captain says seas will moderate tomorrow.
  8. Some good ideas for heavy weather. From the satellite picture Outerdog posted a few minutes ago. It looks like the storm is North of us. The captain said something about altering our course ( more to the south I assume). As I understand what captain said ( and it was a little hard to hear as I was on deck) we are still on for Kona, but the weather report that was showing on the big screen seems iffy for tender operations
  9. This was different. During the sail-a-way deck party, the big screen scrolled continuous marine weather reports, to the sounds of “YMCA”
  10. I am onboard Sapphire and we are heading Kona. The captain just announced that when we leave Kona tomorrow afternoon, we will cancel our call at Hilo and start our return. Apparently there is a major pacific storm and we are facing 6 meter waves. He said people might want to ride it out in their cabins. Well this should be interesting! BTW- great ship, great crew and great cruise (so far LOL)
  11. I am Celiac and this is my third cruise (on Sapphire now) since diagnosis. Let me say,it’s not a problem on princess. I don’t have any faith in the notification being passed down to the food server. I suggest that you make contact with a heat waiter or manager in the MDR, they will go over safe items with you, and show you the next nights menu. (And yes, the anytime dining complicates this issue a bit). In the buffet, seek out a head chief. They are the ones with the tall white hats, He will walk you around and show you what’s safe. Ironically, on a Royal Class ship with the massive buffet, the buffet has many more choices, and really not hard to grab a chief for the walk around. Everyone has always been very helpful and you do start learning what is safe and get the hang of it. You will be fine. Enjoy!
  12. Does anyone onboard know : 1) Isolate in your own cabin? 2) is the medical center providing any meds (I.E. Paxlovid)?
  13. So is the crew now masking? How about the passengers? We board her Thursday for Hawaii. I am not surprised that 46 KNOWN cases. Percentage wise, that’s fairly small. Of course, who knows how many unreported cases. It seems that Covid cases increase late into the cruise, which makes sense.
  14. I was on Discover a few weeks ago and the WiFi was basically useless. I mentioned that in a mid-cruise comment card they gave us and recieved a phone call offering me $50 credit. I didn’t ask, they offered- so they know that they are selling a sub-par product. I am Sailing to Hawaii soon, and I am going old school-not buying internet. Just not worth it. Actually , I am warming to the idea of unplugging for 2 weeks.
  15. I know many walkers enjoy walking the Promenade deck where you are close to the water, as do I. I have found walking on the Sun deck ( an “H” pattern rather than a walk around) works well for me. Also, the running-walking track (deck 19?) works great for me, and their is a stairway which takes you down 2 decks to the aft out-door section of the buffet for a cool drink and break.
  16. IO was diagnosed celiac during the long Covid winter. I agree with most things said here and over all, princess does a great job. I was told that the soft serve ice cream was safe and I have not had any problem with it . If you are going to eat in the MDR, best to go to,the same one every night. Speciality dinning are no problem. Actually, many more safe choices in the buffet( at least on the Royal class ships)-just be sure to get a “tall white hat”. To guide you. After a few days, it all becomes second nature.
  17. We were on that cruise too. Over all, it was great. Agree that VOP WAS GREAT, AS WAS Helen and DROP ( the party band). We ate exclusive I’m the buffet and the food was great. On the down side, the internet was unusable
  18. Got to agree with you. It was a great cruise on a great ship except for the internet.
  19. They gave me a $50 OBC to compensate for the unusable internet. I think that’s their strategy. Sell a crappy internet, provide some OBC to complainers. I realize CCL is in a struggle to avoid bankruptcy, but don’t think selling unusable internet is a good business decision. It really frustrates people .
  20. How is the WiFi on board? I am on Sapphire for Hawaii in a few weeks and am debating getting internet. On the Discovery last week, it was so bad, basically unusable.
  21. We were on her last week for a coastal. You would think WiFi would be pretty good as we were not far out at sea. But it was the worst I ever had. Going to Hawaii in a few weeks on Sapphire and am thinking I will go old school and skip the internet.
  22. Yes, we are onboard now too. Internet has been unusable all day. It’s working now- maybe cuz it’s formal night and captain party so not many passengers online. I will not be buying internet on my next cruise. For me, it’s worthless and frustrating. Lots of excuses from staff. Still overall, a great cruise.
  23. I an celiac and have had good experiences recently on Discover and Ruby. I do wish that in the buffet a simple “GF” on the food would be easier. It’s a bit of a pain to seek out a chief ( get one with a high white hat-the regular cooks may or may not know) for both the passenger and the chief. Over all, not a problem eating GF on Princess.
