  1. A quick note, Kaikoura is a small town, population approximately 2.300. it is a fishing and wildlife centre, whale watching is available. It is located on the main north/south highway, a good place to stop for refreshments while driving that route...........have done so many times, also it was a port of call during a cruise on the wonderful Maasdam. @rafinmd Roy, you have passed through Kaikoura during your train journey to Christchurch.

Thanks to those members who shared photos of today's port, thanks for the food and beverage information, the Care and Celebration lists and the humour. @rafinmd Roy, pleased that you had successful cruises. @grapau27 it was very obvious that you were away from home,....... out of the UK.
  3. We have cruised several times from Sydney Australia and Auckland New Zealand on Holland America Line ships, the currency on board has always been the US$.

  7. It's Election Day today. Results will begin to be announced after 7 pm, could be a long evening until all votes are counted. We voted this morning, a big queue waiting, then went for our daily walk. Will now go and read all the daily posts.
  8. It;s a pleasant spring day. Thanks for the HAL Fleet locations and the daily information. We have been to Wellington several times, many years ago, I lived there for a year while doing a Post Graduate course. @marshhawk hope all these problems will be quickly solved.

  14. @Copper10-8 John,we are pleased to see that Captain Baijens is back with Holland America Line. We met him when he was the Master of the Volendam in 2013 for the Trans Pacific,Vancouver to Sydney, and again the following year on the Volendam Australian Circumnavigation. We were very impressed with Captain Baijens. We knew that he had transferred to Seabourn.
