  1. It's not Regent's fault if the airline changes to smaller plane and can't accommodate you. It'll be different if airline simply won't honor your ticket. We never reported the incident to Regent (we did to our TA), nor did we expect compensation. We did get two travel vouchers from United because they put us on Economy Plus. Hopefully, we'll never have this situation again. I'm assuming America also gave travel vouchers to passengers who were put in economy instead of business. Air travel today has changed a lot.
  2. We had the same issue last year. We were booked on United from Newark to London. That morning I received text from United flight had been changed and to check at airport. At airport we were told there had been an issue and instead of the larger plane they now had a 357 with only 12 first class seats/ No matter how we pleaded we were put on Economy Plus. The worst flight of my life. Seats do not recline and the dinner was disgusting. I had a roll and two glasses of wine for dinner. I saw the email that a refund had been sent to Regent. We didn't get anything from Regent. I guess it's happening more and more based on what's posted here. We have business class seats to Europe this summer for our cruise and pray this situation does not happen again. Unfortunately, we have to use Regent air because unless we have miles the cost for business is a lot more than what Regent gets.
  3. After reading many negative posts about Regent I thought I'll post my thoughts on our latest cruise. We started in Singapore where we spent three days as part of the precruise tour. We stayed at the Fairmont which was a great hotel (great location and service) and had a wonderful guide to take us places. It was a very good tour. The only negative and it was not Regent's fault because the local tour company chooses the restaurant was the last dinner at the Grand Shanghai hotel. The food was not of Regent's quality. We went from Singapore to Sydney. We visited Java, Bali, Subaraya, and several ports in Australia. While I found Java disappointing because there isn't much to see, Subaraya and Bali were very nice as the Australian ports. Food and service were top notch. We didn't lack anything. I should add we are platinum and we reconnected with many crew. The GM was wonderful. We had dinner with him and the captain and in my opinion he's one of the best. Andy Heath was the CD and he and his wife (social hostess) were awesome. The entertainment was excellent. The Regent dancers and singers were wonderful. I just saw a complain in Facebook because we missed Brisbane and Thursday island. Well, Brisbane cancelled us because they stopped using the port we were supposed to dock in. Thursday island had to be cancelled because the waters were too rough for the tenders. It was a matter of safety. I can't find a thing Regent did wrong or was not to our expectations. No,, I don't think Regent has gone down. This was one of best cruises and everything was as expected and top notch. I realize we all have different expectations but let's be realistic. The world has changed and Regent as well as hotels, airlines, etc are doing the best. Sometimes getting the right supplies is beyond their ability. We were very happy with our cruise and are looking forward to our next one next Summer.
  4. I have never cruised NCL. We have always cruised all inclusive. Are we saying that besides the gratuities NCL charges per booking we should tip over $100/day? I understand how hard the crew works. I just want to be sure if we ever cruise NCL we are tipping as expected. I guess if I give butler $50 tip for four or five day cruise, that's not enough.
  5. Regent charges per person instead of per room so you end up paying double. We never take their hotel. We book our own and take a taxi or private car service from airport and to ship from hotel. It's a lot cheaper. You can pay for air deviation so you can choose your flghts and then book hotel of your choice plus take taxi or whatever transportation you want. Lots of people book hotel on their own. If you are in a Concierge suite then it makes no difference because hotel is included.
  6. Since I'm not tied to my cell as most people are, and my cell goes in the safe while cruising and does not come out till end of cruise I don't want an app. I'm tired of apps and everything on line. I do hope Regent does not change passages from hard copy to digital. I think everyone is taking for granted that everyone is technology savvy and that's not the case. I have seen plenty of people who do not know how to use a cell phone or only use it for phone calls.
  7. I agree with GoArmy. I want a paper copy of Passages. We look at before going to bed. I'm tired of everything being online. We keep them to remind us of places visited and to add with names as we review our pictures.
  8. I agree Regent may become too expensive for many of us. I looked at new cruises for 2024 till May 2025 and many of the Deluxe Verandas start at $20,000 plus. I realize many people have no issue with this, but to us spending between $40,000 and $50,000 is a bit much. Lots of things to do with that money and I'm not talking about cruises over 20 days. As to unvaccinated passengers that does not bother us. I intent to socialize and do what we have always done in past cruises in the two upcoming cruises we have booked. I won't let Covid keep me from enjoying life. That said, that's a personal choice and anyone who does not feel comfortable cruising with unvaccinated passengers shouldn't cruise.
  9. Macbeth, please say hello to Alberto from Pilar (he calls me Madame Pilar). We love Alberto. He was our waiter on many cruises. I'm happy he's been promoted. He's excellent. We saw him last on Splendor November 2020.
  10. No, Regent considers fully vaxxed with two doses of the vaccine regardless of when you had it. EU started requiring a booster if vac was more 270 days from day of cruise a few months back. Regent at present only requires two doses of vaccine. We returned from a Regent cruise and we only have the two doses. Regardless, right now if you are cruising from US port you need the pre-test to get on the ship.
  11. I thought the fully vaxxed was two doses with the booster recommended but not required. Are you saying they would have to require passengers to be boosted in order to drop the pre-cruise testing? I'm all on for requiring passengers to be fully vaccinated with two doses as it is now. I have an issue with still requiring pre-test or booster if sailing from US. No matter what, some people are still getting Covid. However, those getting Covid say it is very mild and they are fine in a few days.
  12. I just looked at my Regent account and there is nothing there. Are you saying is under "My to do list"? I don't see there. That's the place to book excursions, tours, etc. I have three cruises booked and it does not show under any.
  13. It's all matter of taste. While we love Explorer we thought Splendor was over the top. So elegant! We loved it. The service was incredible (as is always with Regent). All in all Splendor is our favorite.
  14. I agree with MRLevin. No testing requirements will be great. Too much anxiety if you have to worry about testing. People who are vaccinated and boosted can get Covid so requirement a booster makes no sense. I believe it is the cruise line the ones requiring the pre-cruise test. Has nothing to do with CDC or countries.
  15. As far as I know you can get your test at embarkation. You have to pay $99 for the test. I haven't heard Regent is not doing the test any longer. That's our plan since we'll be in London for three days prior to embarkation.
  16. It would be nice to find the lecturers by the cruise or at least by ship. I found it too cumbersome to look at each person before I could see what itinerary they were on. Not easy friendly in my opinion.
