Do you know whether these people were put off the ship mid-cruise?

Amen to that! The only M&G I've attended in my whole life was aboard the Pacific Princess during their 50th anniversary cruise when the entire Love Boat cast was onboard. Could it have been that one?

Hi Astroflyer, I remember you from the Princess board! I think you will be happy on Oceania. My husband and I ventured from Princess to Windstar and Oceania and never looked back. We also took a Celebrity cruise once due to timing and some weird circumstances and it was fine, but no match for Windstar and Oceania.

I read something recently that was written by an airline employee, and the best advice he/she could give is to book the earliest flight in the day. Apparently all the staffing issues compound and magnify as the day wears on resulting in cancellations. So your best bet is an EARLY morning flight.

And for what it's worth, I no longer see the July 23, 2023 Marina itinerary on Oceania's website. Edited: LOL, I take it back. It's still there.

Huh. I wonder why they seem to have quit. I know that Norway has been making noises about limiting ships in the fjords, but other lines seem to still be going there. A mystery.

When researching Norway cruises I discovered that Oceania seldom goes to Geiranger, which I find very odd. I could only find one itinerary (Marina, July 23, 2023) that included it. But that itinerary terminates in Tromso. Inconvenient to say the least.

Aaauugh. So sorry to hear this. You're right about being unable to recapture special occasion celebrations. My husband and I have cancelled, or the cruise line has cancelled, no less than 5 cruises in the past 2 years so I feel your pain. Based on what I've read on Cruise Critic regarding quarantining, etc. we've decided to not plan any cruises for the foreseeable future and concentrate instead on road trips (airplane travel also seems fraught right now with all the cancellations). You live in a gorgeous part of the world. Take a road trip and stay in fabulous accommodations! Not the same I know, but it's something. Hope you feel better soon.

I really empathize. We're toying with cancelling our Tahiti cruise in September for the very same reasons.
