  1. Yes. Have been to "suite" parties on Crown, Emerald, Ruby, and Grand over the last year. Usually in Adagio, or the One Five. Lots of great snacks and drinks, with plenty of officers to mingle with. Have always been contacted by the Events Officer by phone or in person and they offer any assistance necessary. They do a great job.
  2. Yes. $5,000. They escorted me to the Casino where they gave me an envelope full of 50 dollar bills.
  3. Well, I had to fill out paperwork for the IRS, and got paperwork for taxes, then they gave me an envelope full of cash. My wife never got anything, so I figured it was below any reportable amount, tho I still included it on our tax return. I was informed of my win separately, while at Sabatinis/salty dog, and she got notification once we returned to the cabin. The flowers just showed up in the room with a card to her. It all seemed very separate.
  4. On the Discovery inaugural, I won a bunch of cash. My wife(same room), won a flower arrangement and $250 OBC. That was then. Who knows about now.
  5. Yep. Also one of the prizes listed on the prize list.
  6. When we won, they came and found us at dinner. Door panel never said anything.
  7. There are always a few who try to rationalize their behavior to save a few bucks. There are also a few crew who will support the conspiracies to pad their pockets as possible. This argument has been going on forever.
  8. What you do eventually affects everything. Every action creates a reaction. Either good or bad......
  9. Your logic is odd. Yes, if JUST you remove your tips and give $ directly to a few who serve you, very little impact on the pool. If EVERYONE were to remove auto gratuity in this fashion, the POOL would obviously be much smaller. Yes, your waiter will be happy immediately, but once the pool shrinks and there is less money to pay crew (either in wages, bonuses, recognition, etc), and they will all take a hit. It would take some time, and the number of people removing the auto gratuity would have to be enough to impact the pool total, but you should be able to see the basic math your choice presents. Your couple of hundred bucks won't affect anyone right now, but once millions are removed from the pool, there is obviously less money to distribute (in WHATEVER fashion it is distributed). And yes, I have spoken to crew about this. They recommend leaving the tips on, and if you choose, tipping additional (but not required). Most will color their response to whatever suits them best, not necessarily what is best for everyone.
  10. We are still on a waitlist for the earlier Grand sailing, for a particular category. Unlikely we will get anything, so we will just fool around in Sydney for a week. We fly in March 30. See you later!
  11. See post 2 on roll call, right after you started it!
  12. Good for you! The crew works very hard and deserves recognition. There are still some here who advocate removing tips and paying directly to those that serve them. This obviously lowers the total net tip pool and eventually lowers everyone's compensation. Always better to leave auto tipping on and supplement as called for!
  13. Yes! It was a fabulous ending to a great event!
  14. Your TA should provide a paid in full confirmation. When you use a TA, you do not see payment info on Princess.com.
  15. One is certainly enough with all the food they bring! It was a long cruise, so we were able to just do one each week. It's really a great value, well worth the price.
  16. He actually suggested it since we did 3 UBD's on the trip, and he told us he knew a great location. He was right!
