  1. Yep. That's what happened. We were delayed deboarding that day and nearly everyone missed their flights, etc. On that day, Princess lost a lot of money, that's for sure. It took 5 months to get it back from Princess corporate. The evening before, we were overtaken by the P&O Iona on the way back. The Iona made it on time into Southampton that morning, before the channel was closed for the regatta. The Sky didn't. Max speed of the Sky was 19 knots that evening. The regatta is a yearly event for decades.
  2. Interesting. Because the same thing happened to us on the Sky Princess just one year ago on the 14 day Norway North Cape sailing on June 11th. What a coincidence... The captain (also Marco Fortezze) had made reference to a generator problem which was impacting on the vessel’s speed. On the first leg from Southampton we arrived in Haugesund at 12:30PM instead of 8:00AM. Shore Excursions (independend and from Princess) had to be cancelled. So no Akrafjord and no Langfoss waterfall for us.
  3. Room service Pizza is available from 11.00am – 11.00pm, not 24 hours.
  4. Well, never order "Catch of the day" on a cruise ship. Think of it, it doesn't make sense, right? 😉
  5. Just go down to ShorEx desk. They will have tours, I'm sure. It's normal that the system isn't updated that fast. Or it shows only few of the available excursions. Happened twice on Regal and Sapphire to me.
  6. This is a joke, right? Princess offers the channels Sport 24 & Sport 24 Extra in your stateroom. They show nearly every live sports event you can imagine. You can't have more live sport coverage on a cruise ship. https://sport24live.com/about
  7. Cruising the fjords to Olden & Skjolden is usualy one of the main reasons why people book Norway cruises. There is not much to do in Skjolden itself, didn't you know that in advance? In the surrounding area, there are 2 spectacular National Parks, a Stave Church, Waterfalls and the Saga Column. Princess ShorEx Best Of Skjolden SK2-100 would have brought you there for example.
  8. Wow, just on the point!! 👍 Princess versions On the last cruise (Sapphire Alaska April / May), Beef Wellington wasn't served on a formal evening. It came one day later on the menu.
  9. Yes, this is where Sky Princess turned for the Medevac. So most likely, the helicopter came from the Shetland Islands.
  10. The only capable dock in Seydisfjorour is the ferry dock from Smyril Line. Once per week the MS Norröna car ferry is in port, arriving from Hirtshals, Denmark. MS Norröna, Seydisfjorour It is a pretty small dock, I wonder if the Island Princess would fit in length. But it looks like. No chance for a royal class ship tho. The Sky Princess is 164 m longer than the ship you see.
  11. I made the mistake and did not try it, so I don't know.
  12. This is what The Crab House in Icy Strait Point offers at the moment (May 03, 2023): No King Crab for a reason. In older web pictures (pre-Covid), they also had King Crab on their menu.
  13. Princess usually charges about 90% of the double cabin fare to singles.
  14. I completely agree in the MDR. The prawns have much much more flavor.
  15. Yes, and age isn't important yet on the royal class ships. And the Regal has a much nicer Retreat Pool area than the newer Royal Class ships, where the pool is surrounded by extra cabins. Fantastic ship.
  16. Recently on the Sapphire, Princess offfered "Land and Sea" (Turf & Surf lol) on the 2nd formal evening. 8 oz filet mignon + 6 oz lobster tail. No Risotto. It was no cold water lobster tho. The imho much more important Beef Wellington came on the 2nd last night (not formal). I like they split that, always had to order 2 mains (lobster + Wellington) on the 2nds formal in the past.. as many did. 😄
  17. SMiZE Cream sound like an expanding foam to me.
  18. Too bad Akureyri port is blocked today by the NCL Prima (4600 pax + crew). And 2 other smaller cruise ships (Silver Endeavour and Hurtigruten Fram). So no, the Sky couldn't have easily stopped today in Akureyri. Sorry, but I would never ever book a non-refundable private tour.
  19. Crab Shack is history. As is Planks BBQ.
  20. It was, because others at the table were wearing classic formal. But it was ok for everyone to let this guy pass the formal attire. 😄
  21. Hard to say. It's hit or miss any time of the year, isn't it? Just finished an Alaska cruise on the Saphhire. Embarkation was April 29. First of the season. It was a bargain deal, and I didnt't expect anything... But we had the best weather one could imagine (except Hubbard Glacier, but we still made it upfront).
