  1. Not true, I’ve been using them for years now and have never cruised from any home port out of the US. Just added another $1500 worth of cards to upcoming Hawaii trip out of Long Beach.
  2. We’ve done this every cruise and last cruise and it’s always worked well…..until last cruise on Elation. Was on the Elation the month before also in different room and that one worked fine. I like using a washcloth to hold the door open, works well normally. Did not like the surprise so want to be prepared, next cruise is 15 day and want to be able to keep drinks cold.
  3. Last cruise our room cooler wasn’t cooling hardly at all. I plan to purchase a small soft sided (?) ice cooler but want one that will hold up and hold melted ice without leaking. Does anyone have any recommendations for keeping our Cokes cold? Don’t like pouring warm Cokes over ice due to the immediate watering down. Size is limited to 12x12x12, I can make that work.
  4. Sadly they can run thorough checks but if any person has clean record and no prior known history what are they to do. I’d be FURIOUS to find this out and would probably be spending the next several years in jail for my reaction if this was my child. So after seeing this I looked to see what Carnival may do. This is page to Carnival’s application info for kid staff. They do require 2 years experience, hopefully this should help prevent these kind of hiring errors. https://www.carnivalentertainment.com/overview/youth-and-camp-staff
  5. Mine is that moment after muster and carryon drop when I head straight to Lido for that traditional Funship also…..Not in a souvenir cup. It’s my only cruise tradition that I can’t skip.
  6. I’ve been able to switch rooms after booking to same category just different location pre covid a couple of times without a problem. Both those times my PVP made the change for us at no additional charge. I would give Carnival a call during regular banker hours when what I believe has the most knowledgeable CS agents. I don’t think the rate will change so long as category cabin is the same. And….don’t wait or the cabin you want will be gone.
  7. This is something that can be done on the manage my cruise page. Did you use a PVP or TA to book? Either of them should be able to get your first choice in on your bookings. How many scouts and rooms did you book?
  8. Waitlist means your dining choice is full and will be given either your time or late dining option. You will definitely get an assigned choice. Also depending on how many girls you have if you go straight to the dining room after boarding, explain your group and if possible they will switch your dining time to what you’d prefer.
  9. I’m an AARP gift card user and purchase them to pay off all my cruises, 2% cash back on my CC card that purchases them so that’s a win too. I’ll stop purchasing them when I’m ready to retire from cruising, until then….game on!
  10. Next up already booked we’ve got Miracle, Firenze, Liberty, Spirit then a btbtb on Glory. Liberty and Miracle are only repeat ships. Only ship I would really like to cruise on would be any Windjammer ship.
  11. I’ve got two favorites. First one was early cruise on the Holiday and the first time we saw the Love and Marriage show, hosted by John Heald. We could not possibly have laughed harder and fell in love with this show. Still watch it every cruise. Second was the spoon on a string game that was hosted by Wee Jimmy (Ralph Valente) on the Sensation. WJ was standing at the side as the game started…..when the spoon got to the very senior gentleman his pants wound up dropping completely down…..Never saw a short Scotsman move across the stage so fast spreading his kilt to provide some modesty. It took a good long while for the audience to be settle down again, he had us screaming after this malfunction.
  12. I cruised the Elation in September, we kept smelling pot coming into our room through the AC units. Reported it a couple of times and security was to our room investigating as best as they could. We did have the service dog sniffing before boarding. It was a momentary delay and not an issue for us. When we got back home to Jaxport there was a slight delay debarking, as we walked past a couple of guests that were by gangway but sitting with all belongings, I joked that I wanted to be in their comfy spot. Not sure if they brought dog back on the ship but these folks were being detained and I was told they were in a naughty spot waiting for law enforcement to board. Fast forward to October Elation cruise, same sniff check getting on……. for the first time in 14 cruises since the restart we never smelled pot once on the ship. I made a point of greeting a security person letting him know and that I appreciated their efforts. All while carrying my edibles. 🥹
  13. I just received the first upgrade offer I’ve had in a long time. It was laughable. Have a nice location standard balcony, 7280 on Miracle to Hawaii. They just offered me an upsell to extended balcony on deck 5, room 5109 right above the main theater for $480. No rhyme or reason to some of their offers.
  14. I have pretty much stopped using my Carnival CC. I get 10% discount by using my AARP cards. I wasn’t seeing any credits after Carnival purchases and I’m sure not of the mind to waste time with Barclay’s trying to get proper credits. I use my Carnival card now solely for onboard expenses. Never seen a discount from those either. I did like the initial $200 credit and know that is the hook for this high interest cards.
  15. Your cruise ended on the 21st? We got onboard the 21st and am very curious to see how smooth it goes tomorrow in the morning. We’re in first group scheduled to debark between 8:05 and 8:25 with our checked luggage. Was it smooth for you and did you check luggage or carry off?
  16. I was on Elation last month and hadn’t started this yet but currently on the Elation again and we have the Debarkation option on the hub ap for this cruise. I am loving this option. Info is on the ap but they delivered this notice last night along with our #1 luggage tags.
  17. My dad was a gambling man, he made sure to let you know his winnings but NEVER confessed to the amounts he lost and he lost bigger than he won, we know that from the bills that went unpaid. Add alcohol to the mix and sometimes I don’t even think he knew. I’m sure it’s a lot more than most will own up to.
  18. I booked Firenze for 9/28/24, don’t normally sail summer months and figured the newness and kinks would be ironed out by then.
  19. All 3 legs go to Celebration Key, Nassau and Bimini are the two additional ports, the 3 day is just Celebration. Booked only a couple days after announcing dates open for Celebration Key. It’s a 4-3-4 day cruise for only 11 days total.
  20. Booked a BTBTB same cabin for April 2026 Glory 9/30/23
  21. OK, it is possible to still get a passport fast, it’s not cheap and there’s a couple hoops you have to jump through. I would go to government site, immediately fill in application for new passport, get it sent in right away with the photos you’ll need. Once they give you the acknowledge of receipt of application you can then call with the number. Apply for Urgent passport, it!s a pain but doable. Try calling the number on this link right away, see if you can get an appt without having to send in application first. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html
  22. If anyone in your group is a Cloud 9 Spa fan definitely 100% go with the Magic, much nicer spa. I also like that Half Moon will have fewer people. Like the Vista also but definitely not the spa on there.
  23. One thing to note that it’s not a problem to cancel but must be at least 24 hours before or you will be charged $25 per person for the cancellation. I would prebook Teppanyaki for a couple of meals, as soon as you get on the ships you can see the menus for rest of cruise then keep the one you like and cancel the other. We tried to cancel late in the evening on Mardi Gras after eating at Jiji’s Kitchen. Loved the food there too and there were more items to try and we had already done Teppanyaki once on the cruise. The menu at Teppanyaki is the same every time we’ve gone.
  24. Maybe evaluating the cost vs. profit of all these casino offers they’ve been handing out?
