Now this is quite intriguing- I was assuming g with PA I would skip any line to checkin and allow me to get an earlier boarding group.  I didn’t realize it was its own board g group.  If that is the case, we would t need to arrive as early.  Hmmm. Have you experienced this?  Thanks for the intel!

Keep in mind, that boarding will begin somewhere between 11:00 A.M. and 11:30 A.M. depending on how quickly the prior cruise passengers complete disembarkation and the ship is cleared to begin embarkation.

Yes, I purchased Priority Access once and quickly discovered that it was not worth it me as a solo passenger.

On the Bliss at the rear of Deck 17 is an area called Spice H2O (which is a free deck area for sunbathing-- does have a bar and restrooms.  From about 7 A.M. to 7 P.M., it is an adult area ONLY.  After 7 P.M., they show movies up there geared for families and later in the evening the various dance parties are held (weather permitting).

If you are interested in World War II history, the Battleship Iowa is docked at the same pier where the Bliss docks.

  2. Priority Access does not mean very much.  Will not help you get into the terminal any earlier.  It does not assign check-in times.  It is my understanding that most ports to do check what check-in times passengers have.

Priority Access DOES NOT mean you will be among the very first to board either.

Most of the time Boarding order goes something like this: (1) Any VIP guests, (2) Haven Guests, (3) Casino at Sea guests, (4) Upper level Latitudes members [Ambassador, Diamond, etc.], (5) Handicapped Passengers (Scooters, wheelchairs, etc.), (6) Priority Access and (7) General Boarding by Group Numbers.

Since this will be a Spring Break cruise, it will be very very crowded.

    Enjoy

  3. Spring Break is usually the timeframe between President's Day weekend in February through the week following Easter Sunday.  Easter Sunday in 2025 is the 20th of April.  Passenger counts should decrease a bit between Sunday April 27th and Memorial Day 2025.

  6. I cross those railway tracks all the time.  They  run along the Eastern side of Alaskan Way.  Check out the Space Needle web cam and you can see them.

Crime stats came from the mayor of Seattle YESTERDAY when he was announcing a new crime prevention program for downtown Seattle.

  7. Very few if any hotels downtown have their own transportation from the airport to the hotel.  Most is not all the hotels around the airport do have free shuttle services from the airport to their particular hotel.  Most downtown hotels seem to be much more expensive than those at the airport. I would suggest that if you pick a downtown hotel, please aware of your surroundings especially at night-- downtown crime rate at the moment is very very high.

The two hotels closest to the Pier 66 are The Edgewater (next door and expensive built for the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair) and the Marriott Waterfront across the street.  Be aware that you have to cross several railroad tracks in order to cross over to the pier (sometimes not very easy).

    • specially coffees are not included.  Like mentioned above, there will be a fill the bag special of laundry during your cruise.  Make sure to take inventory as you put things in the bag ( there will be a ticket supplied you will fill in with # of items and type of items).
    •  Roll everything really tight ( those bas are pretty flimsy).  If you are in Haven suite ( if he dawn has them), the laundry bag will be made of a much more durable fabric, and is much larger.  Also, if in the Haven ( again, if there is one on Dawn), you can get cappuccinos no charge in the Haven dining room.

The Dawn does not have a Haven Restaurant.

  9. Norwegian ships do not have self-serve laundry.  Sometime during the cruise, there will be a "Fill The Bag" laundry special.  Everything in  the bag will be one price.

I do not think that cappuccinos are included in the basic drink package.

I gave NCL all my flight info when booking their transfer to port, can I assume they will ensure I get to the port in time for the cruise?

On the booking, I did this and it showed " we found your flight info", and for $27 they will take me to the port. (Solo traveler so much cheaper than Uber for me)

Anyone know how often the transfers leave Seattle airport to port?

Beginning about 9:30 A.M., probably about every 30 minutes or so.  HOWEVER, if I remember correctly the Cruise Ship Transfer point is clear at the end of the parking garage.  A long ways from the baggage claim area.  I think you have to go from the baggage claim area, up at least one level (maybe two), and then walk to the end of the parking garage.  It has been a couple of years since I have done.

  11. I would save the money and go for an Inside.  You will probably be in your cabin very little except for sleeping, showering and changing clothes.  Use the money for a special excursion that your daughter would love.  You can only built very special memories while they young.  No one knows what the future may hold, make this cruise as special as you can.

I believe with the inside cabin you have to pay the double occupancy, which the studio does not have, or at least that's how it used to be.

A Solo Inside is a fairly new category of a cabin.  It is priced for a solo passenger.  There are also now a Solo Oceanview and a Solo Balcony.

Whatever it is poor passengers.  I will never use ncl again. I'm surprised anyone said with them twice

37 cruises and counting, all with NCL have 4 more booked.  Sorry your cruise was not what you expected.  I have had several very minor issues but never enough to say
    "not again".

Yeah....I always thought I'd like to tour their HQ sometime to see how they operate.  I doubt they'd let me do that.  But, it would be interesting to see how they do outbound selling and how they handle WEB bookings, how they handle changes and reservations after they are made, etc.

I get this mental image there's this big bank of cubicles they all work from on a couple of floors.

For all I know, they may be stuck in a basement somewhere with someone who looks like my 7th grade teacher going up and down the aisles making sure everyone is doing their work.  LOL!

I do know all the cruise lines (not just NCL) need major help with their WEB sites.  They are among the buggiest and slowest WEB sites I've ever seen from multi-million dollar corporations.

I would love to tour their Test Kitchen.

I am assuming that their HQ is like many other Corporate buildings at the moment- a number of empty offices spaces.  Norwegian laid off 3/4 of its HQ staff or allowed them to work from home during the pandemic.  I wonder how many have actually returned to the HQ building itself??

Ok if I call it gratuity would that be  better?  Everyone else I deal with at NCL sure wants them.. And NO I am not expecting people to tip their PCC's.. Ours has just done a lot of extra legwork since when it comes to things like cruises I tend to me a bit obsessive sometimes and they get blasted with emails about certain things, and making sure I didnt miss this or wanting to add that etc etc.. Sure I get it's their job but sometimes you just want to say an extra thanks to people.

PCC'S are sub-contractors for Norwegian working on a commission basis-- the more they sell the more they make.  Some work from Call Centers all over the world and others work from their homes.

A simple " Thank You" is all that is needed.
