You could always write a letter to Norwegian:
Norwegian Cruise Line
ATT: Guest Relations
7665 Corporate Circle Drive
Miami, Florida 33126

You can leave everything in your room. You will need to clear the ship however but all you will need is your key card and passport. You will be given exact instructions sometime during your first cruise.
-
The last item I saw Norwegian post about The Star, they said "technical problem", which I took to mean computer rather than a "mechanical" problem (the azipods themselves).
-
Just wondering if anyone knows if you can send faxes from the ship.
We have a house on the market and are wondering if we get an offer while we're on our 9-day cruise if it's possible to send a fax so we can accept the offer. Any other ideas?
Sandy,
Ask at the Guest Services Desk, I am sure there is a way to do it.

May I suggest that you post on the Roll Call for your cruise. People there probably will have lots of ideas for you.
I will be boarding the Getaway for the 5th time at the end of May as a solo passenger.
I hope you have a wonderful cruise.
-
David,
I am sorry you feel that way. I have 5 more cruises planned for this year and a couple of 10 Day or longer planned for next year.
I am lucky if I spend $700 on a cruise with $250 of that on a Cruise Reward.

Hi all!
We sail on the Getaway May 2. It will be our 5th week on her :)
Does anyone know if Bong will still be on board then?? He's great! Thanks in advance!
Bong should be on board until the end of June, I believe.

When you get about a month away from your cruise send an e mail to: AccessDesk@ncl.com
They will notify the ship of your need. They will require that you give them or Stateroom and some other information. When you go aboard ask to speak to either or both the Food and Beverage Director and the Restaurant Manager. They are very good about trying to meet the dietary needs of passengers.
I have to do this with every cruise for another dietary issue and have very few problems.

I was on The Dawn in January in an Inside Cabin on Deck 10 and did not have any problems at all. I love Inside cabins- very peacefully, great place to nap. On the Dawn I was not far from an elevator bank so was close to almost everything I needed.
She is a great ship with a wonderful staff. Enjoy your cruise.

Of course, I will sail Norwegian again. I am about the leave on my 24th Norwegian cruise and have the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th booked.
-
If that is the only time frame you have the cruise will be expensive and crowded no matter one the newer bigger ships or one of the small ones. Lots of families do holiday cruises with several generations.
The Epic, The Breakaway and The Getaway all have water slides and rope courses that you sons would enjoy.
All of the ships will be decorated for Christmas.
I am going to be on The Getaway over Christmas and can not wait.

Who are the Senior Bridge and Hotel Officers?

I looked back specifically before I posted on this thread on the NCL.com press releases and could not find it, tho I might have missed it. Do you have a link?
I found it in the December 9th Press Release talking about itineraries. Sorry, I do not know how to provide a link for you. You have to read the article very carefully. The Gem is toward the middle of Caribbean section.
-
I went back on found the article: Asia Cruise News dated 18 March, 2015
" Norwegian Cruise Line is considering to deploy its newbuilding to China in 2018. 'We have four newbuildings, and we are developing the skunkworks internally to evaluate China, we'll make a decision in the next few months on whether we go or not,' said NCL Chief Executive Frank Del Rio."
It will be interesting to see what develops. I do not know if She would be too big for the New Panama Canal that is supposed to be wider and deeper, if it is ever finished. Through the Canal or around The Horn either would be a great trip. Start saving your pennies.
-
Based on an interview with an Asia news organization the other day that Mr. Del Rio gave, it sounded like one of the newer ships would be going into the Asian, Australian markets. He said they were exploring those markets.
The Gem is going to be sailing out of San Juan for a short period of time and then returning to NYC. The Breakaway was built for the NYC market, The Getaway and The Escape for the Miami market.

I agree with you. People seem to think that "staff will pick after them".
Have you noticed lately, when staff eats in the buffet, they pick up their dirty dishes and silverware and put them in the proper bus tubs?
-
The game will be listed in your Freestyle Daily. Thirty minutes or so before it is to start, the Cruise Director will ask for volunteers.
-
WOW How nice for both of you. I hope you both have a wonderful cruise and enjoy your special time together.

YES, Norwegian reads social media and responses. Yesterday Norwegian posted on CC about The Star's upcoming Transatlantic Crossing since Her Panama Cruise had been canceled.
I would very little faith in a PCC who works in Call Center who knows where: India, Panama, Arizona, Milton-Freewater, Oregon. They are only as good as the information they are given which good be very old or they are not very well trained.
-
I think that you will be just fine. Enjoy your cruise. If you do find an issue, got to Guest Services and ask to speak to one of the Hotel Directors. They are both very nice gentlemen.
-
Thanks guys! Nice to know that we don't really need to book so we can just decide if we fancy it on the day. Hmmm I'm fine with the cold but my partner hates it- this might take some persuasion!
No need to warm about being cold, you are provided with hooded parkas that slip over your head.

I know that you and brothers want to "gift" your parents a cruise, I would love a cruise like this, but would they? They might want something very different for the 50th Anniversary. I would bring them into the discussion as to what they would and would not like. Best Wishes to them as them as their 50th approaches.

By saying "I", I am assuming that you travel as a single passenger. Norwegian has 4 ships at the moment (another coming in October) that have cabins meant for one person and are price for ONE person. On The Epic, The Breakaway, The Getaway and soon the Escape, there a lounge in the solo cabin area to meet and make dinner arrangements, drinks, excursions with other solo passengers.
I have stayed in the solo cabins and love it. I did not think I would but I do.
NCL Star mooring-up in Port Miami...anyone know why?

That is GOOD NEWS. She is ready for Her Transatlantic Crossing to Copenhagen tomorrow.
