  1. That is good to know, thank you! I sure hope our experience is similar. That said, is this “rule” a quirky restriction with Specialty dining only, and NCL in particular? Because this is how we always order in any MDR …the fact it’s suggested we might have to barter an extra starter for a dessert is very off-putting. 😳
  2. I know I risk adding to the nausea but are you saying that I can’t have an appetizer AND a soup or salad with my entree? 😕 (Don't care about dessert) Don’t think I’ve ever experienced that on any cruise line.
  3. Yep. We drink our coffee black but are traveling with my sister who is a coffee cream fanatic! So much so, we stock up on quarts and quarts for her visits. (and try to suppress our horror). She is not going to be happy with that fake carnation stuff. 😬
  4. I was able to check in this morning around 9:30 am (EST) and my sister checked in 10:30 ‘ish. The site WAS clunky and slow.
  5. I must say catching a view of the harbor master and his crew doing their thing during ANY port visit is a highlight of a cruise for us. The logistics, skill and risk boogle my mind, even during perfect weather! Thanks for the insight.
  6. I see that only the theatre show “Choir of Man” on the Encore “requires” reservations (Thank you Bird). But I was wondering if the other shows can and might be reserved pre-cruise - or are they strictly first come first served?
  7. Are you sure the Thermal Spa is available? I believe there are only 150 spots or so. (maybe I’m mistaken?) Anyhoo they were long gone before I had the opportunity to book for our Encore cruise mid- October. 🤷‍♀️ (I would have loved to book - Alaska! Brrrr! 🥶)
  8. We are on the Oct 15th sailing. Preparing myself for the possibility of missing ALL the ports! Haha! Our Seattle land plans fell through and we booked this cruise as a hotel alternative - can’t say Alaska in mid-October was on my bucket list. 🥶🌧️ Enjoy that thermal spa! 👍🏻
  9. 🙂. I’ve cruised frequently throughout the last 40 years or so. I’ve always been impressed with personable, efficient stewards. 30 rooms is a shockingly high number for one person to handle and I find that concerning because it certainly hasn’t been my experience in the past… I also enjoy all-inclusives, and your flippant statement regarding those employees is just…bizarre. 🙄
  10. Well that was just thoroughly depressing and makes me question the decision to cruise with a company who treats their employees so badly. If this is standard practice in the industry now… I won’t be eager to contribute to it in the future. Wow.
  11. That is indeed true and if their mother is trying to raise funds, it sounds like no one, even family, has enough credit to pay the hospital bill or flights home. Yikes, that’s risky travel. 🫤
  12. I think many young people don’t think they need travel medical insurance. Tend to think they are invincible. I know I insisted my young adult kids buy insurance when they travelled out of country - “sure you are healthy but that doesn’t rule out an accident!” What a horrible situation, hope it gets resolved. ….and I totally missed the no passport bit! Wow! 😬
  13. Bwahahaha! I think we can manage that then! Thx again! 👍🏻🤣
  14. I caught your earlier posts about this, thank you!. This is now our plan. Just hope we can find the pedestrian bridge. 😬👍🏻
  15. I’m on the sailing just before you. Preparing for horrible weather! Mid/later October in Alaska! Haha! 😬 I don’t think anyone sails less than full nowadays so expecting a packed ship. One good thing - No other lines sail this late in the season and the ports might not be as crowded? (of course this also might be a negative if places have closed for the season). Whatever! We got a great price and will enjoy the cruise, come what may! 👍🏻🙂
  16. I just received mine in the mail. (Not Haven just regular club balcony 😳)Totally shocked! Can’t remember the last time I’ve received mailed tags from any cruise line, we always just print them out.
  17. On our sailing (Encore Alaska) the only production show is Choir of Men. 🤨 and it appears that is the ONLY entertainment you can book. Everything else is small venue or no reservations needed (first come first served ?) Can’t say I’m impressed with the offerings - we are used to some kind of production show every night in the theatre like most other lines. 😕 With the number of people on this ship I’m even worried about getting into Choir of Men.
  18. I’ve booked a club balcony and don’t have access to book any entertainment. I thought it opens up at 21 days pre cruise for everyone (perhaps Haven has early access). Have only cruised Norwegian once - have no idea how everything works. 🤷‍♀️
  19. Oh dandy! 🙄 if that’s the case with our Encore cruise I will be annoyed. $40 a day gratuities and we might not have our room serviced until the VERY time period we are usually back for a rest and/or readying for pre- dinner and evening plans. Blah! 🫤
  20. Agree. I’m booked on the Encore for an upcoming cruise and rather shocked at the lack of entertainment. Doesn’t even sound like they have entertainers coming in for one offs in the theater like other lines. So many passengers and so many small venue, repetitive shows (comedy 🥱). Looking forward to Choir of Man but…🫤
  21. Thank you so much for sharing your experience on this cruise. You pretty much covered any queries I might have had… sounds like you had a lovely time - safe travels home!
  22. Had no idea this was a thing. So the rational is simply to encourage passengers to buy their alcohol in Canadian ports? Seriously?? Do other countries do this?? Seems so odd. 🫤
  23. 🫤 I will ask for robes if we don’t get them, geeez!
  24. 😬 This only applies to large balconies I hope. They aren’t going to forbid me use of my wee regular balcony are they (pretty sheltered).
  25. We’re on the same cruise and I received that email today also. Read it, didn’t think much of it…they are just reminding you to check visa requirements etc. and bring your Covid cards if you’ve got them. 🤷‍♀️ Sounded like a standard travel FYI email to me, as other poster said - covering their bases in case any countries suddenly impose new restrictions.
