Photograph was taken while on an excursion coach returning to a Cunard Ship. The port is there in the distance.

I saw the first picture and thought that's Reunion. But we've already seen that so I must be wrong. Then you posted the second one and I thought that looks like Le Port, Reunion. But ...

I've just checked the list and I see it is still listed as Pointe Des Galets, Reunion

Fun Fact: Aberdeen Harbour Board was founded in 1136 and according to Guiness World Records is the oldest company in Britain.

It's nothing exciting really. I was a computer engineer for 40+ years and they were one of my customers. Between installs, upgrades, repairs and maintenance I was in and out of both the office and the control tower quite a bit. They have an amazing ship simulator for training the harbour pilots. Aberdeen Harbour - Pilot Training - YouTube (There used to be a much better youtube video but I can't find it now)

👍 If I didn’t recognise that central building there would be something wrong. I’ve spent enough time in it over the years.

I made a stupid assumption at the start, that PH was the registration for Peterhead. And knowing that we had already discounted that a while ago I've spent quite a long time trying to match the photo to Aberdeen harbour. When I eventually checked it out, matching the photo was easy.

Only to find @bluemarble had beaten me to it.

As @exlondonersays, it can be quite amusing when you know the way better than they do, even when you’ve never been on the ship before.

Probably best to do it at time of booking but if not you can do it on the Voyage Personaliser (or Manage My Booking, or My Cunard, or whatever it’s called this week.)

If I'd posted this for London I don't think it would have challenged anyone.

But I was wrong when I said this must be SGII. It looks like I misread a Seadream press release.

The text further down the page says this is SGI.

The port I originally had in mind was simply London. Many Cunard ships called this home over the years which was why I called it a ‘glaring omission’. When I went looking for a photo that didn’t contain Tower Bridge, or the London Eye, or the Houses of Parliament, or Big Ben, or ... this was the best I could come up with. Which was quite apt since I knew that RVS had been there both before and during her Cunard life. When she visited in her Cunard guise she went as far as Tower Bridge for a photo op, but I don’t know if she went through, or is capable of doing so. Sea Goddess I passed through Tower Bridge both before and after her Cunard life, but not during. There is a photo of a Sea Goddess in Cunard livery passing under the bridge in the 150th anniversary history of the line and although you can’t make out the name it would have to be SGII. (I’ll scan it when I get home)

There are numerous photos online of old Cunard ships at the George V dock, roughly where the south side of the runway at London City Airport is now. I think it’s close enough to Greenwich to call it the same port. I think Tilbury is far enough away to qualify as a separate port but happy to hear other opinions.

Well, I've identified the ship. Now I just need to work out the port. It looks like somewhere on the west coast of Scotland.😄

I don't think I'm giving anything away if I say this is another river port.

That just confirmed my initial guess, but I still struggled to place the photo.

I think the island in the foreground is Vihamanaafushi, with Hulhule Island behind it, just to the north on the airport. The port we are looking at is Male, Maldives.

There is an unnamed passenger vessel sitting at the slipway in Banjul so that could be it.

Yes, 'Gambia Ferries' was just too easy. And even 'Aljamdu' wasn't much of a challenge. When I googled 'Johe' I got several other ferries but not this one, so I left that in.

I have a couple of additions for the next version of the unseen list. First is the port of Sevastopol, which I spotted in a Royal Viking Sun brochure from 1997. The second is a port/city that I have visited many times and have lots of photos of (I'm sure many of us have). I'm just trying to find one that isn't so obvious. So I'll keep that one to myself for now.

Again, in the past ...  There has been no need to pack the clothes that are on hangers. They have brought one of those rails on wheels and simply moved the hanging stuff from the old wardrobe to the new one. 

We hung around with friends who were waiting to disembark until the new cabin was ready. The room-stewards/housekeeping will co-ordinate things and your new cabin will be one of the first to be prepared, so they can get your stuff out of the old one ASAP. The new cabin was ready at least an hour before our friends left. 

If you're not planning to go ashore and you have any laundry to be done it's a good day to do it.

I was rather hoping I would recognise Freeport when/if it came up, but no such luck.

I don't know if it's ever been a scheduled Cunard port but I put it on the list because we had an emergency call there on Vistafjord in 1997. We'd left Fort Lauderdale only the previous evening, then had a couple of days in port before all being flown home.☹️
