I'm really kicking myself over that Samos answer. The photograph definitely  rang a bell and checking through my library,  sure enough we were there with Queen Victoria on 7th October 2008...

It should have looked familiar. It was taken on 7th October 2008.

Have another look at the video. You never know, you might spot yourself.

I think that just leaves this one?

The whole thing has a sort of Norway/Canada/Alaska look to it. Then I spotted the palm trees!

So while I continue to work on that I'll distract the rest of you with this. I thought I would have had a better photo of this port having been there twice on two different Cunard ships, but there is a clue in there. (And who's that wee boy?)

  3. Well done @sfred.  Samos ✔️

I knew those videos were good for more than putting people to sleep.

I made the same error with Bari. But there may be an issue with it as a Cunard port. Do you only have one visit for Cunard Princess, somewhere around the 14th or 15th Sept? We were scheduled to go there but it was changed to Katakolon, I think just before we sailed (it was nearly 30 years ago). Vistafjord was in Katakolon with us, so if her Bari call was the same day it didn't happen either.

Well according to the list I downloaded on 6 April I believe I have another port - unless of course I've missed a weekend page or two somewhere recently.

No doubt about it being a  Cunard ship making an early morning entry but there is actually another clue for the eagle eyed...

Ah! I think that clue may be a little misleading.

It's Queen Victoria and she's flying a French courtesy flag. But it isn't mainland France.

    This is Le Port, Reunion.

Zadar is correct. Apologies for the alphabetical challenge. Bluemarble will hopefully opine on whether it's a Cunard port.

There's a review on Cruise Critic of a QV cruise calling at Zadar in June 2017.

It is/was scheduled for later this year. Whether that has/will be changed I don't know.

I'm still figuring on removing Seattle unless we can show that has been a Cunard port.

For some reason it's listed here as a cunard port but without any details.

Sagafjord, one of the Sea Goddeses and Crown Dynasty all cruised Alaska in the mid-nineties so it's possible one of them called there.

I believe we had Manaus a few pages back... and Santarem, too.  EM

Yes, I posted them. What I meant was that I'm likely to have other pictures of Cunard ports but taken from non-Cunard ships. Like those ones of Manaus and Santarem.

The port is Londonderry (or Derry) Northern Ireland

Well done sfred. It was already tomorrow here when I got your answer so I think that counts.

A quick "back-of-an-envelope" calculation says there are 17 more ports that I've been to on Cunard ships that haven't been seen on this thread yet. And there might be more Cunard ports that I've been to on other lines, like Manaus and Santarem. It's just a question of finding identifiable pictures.

I think this topic still has a while to go.

  9. Well done everyone. Yes, it was Sea Goddess II ✔️ in Nice ✔️. I too thought we had seen Nice already having made exactly the same mistake.

The other is Royal Viking Sun ✔️. But where?

We had sailed in through quite a long inlet then through that channel, before turning on the spot in the harbour, ready for departure. And as I said earlier, it's in the UK.

I've been to Mindelo but still didn't recognise either of those photos.

    CD060.JPG

This was from the ex-Crown Dynasty, now Fred Olsen's Braemar.

Colin - I think there's just one photo left unidentified. It's the last one featuring QE2.

With the identification of Bermuda, I agree.

I'll certainly need some clues for yours!

Ask and ye shall receive. The first one is in the UK. The second, as  @Essiesmom worked out is in the Western Med.

please share views if you're unhappy with this variation from the rules.

If they turn out to have been Cunard ports then we’re all happy. If not, then you do realise you’re risking a keelhauling?

The first one has the look of the breakwater at the entrance to Honolulu, but I don’t think the hills in the background are high enough.

  11. I'm afraid I'm getting nowhere with Palmeat's last two photos.

I'm fairly sure I'm out of photos of 'ship and port'.

Looks like I spoke too soon. I managed to find these two in old albums and scanned them.

Ship and port for each please.

    Let's try this one.

    Quest E 9 .jpg

Struggling with this one so far. The only thing I can latch onto is that the “High Voltage” sign on the door at the back right appears to be in Portuguese.

I think this is Santarem, Brazil?

    Well done @Palmeat.

I'm fairly sure I'm out of photos of 'ship and port'. I can think of several more ports we've been to on Cunard ships, it's just a question of if I took (and can find) an identifiable photo.

  14. Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts.

Back home again now, just in time for the return of the snow. The ground was already white when we woke this morning and it’s hardly stopped all day. Tomorrow is looking like more of the same.

Scotland has has also now moved from “Stay at Home” to “Stay Local”, but as far as we’re concerned I don’t see it making any significant difference. We’re not planning on rushing out anywhere.

I thought this one will be easy. Just enlarge the picture and read the sign on the building.

Well, "Free Moorings" narrowed things down considerably. 🤣

This is Bay of Islands, New Zealand
