  1. It’s a Midnight sun cruise - no deep fjords. All ports are coastal cities. No deep fjords. The highlight is North Cape in Honningsvåg. Excursion must be booked in advance. Bergen has the funicular ‘ Fløibanen’ and Tromsø the Fjellheisen Cable Car to view points. Also viewpoint in Ålesund and Molde. Bergen, Trondheim, Tromsø and Honningsvåg are all good DIY cities. Honningsvåg and Molde are small towns. Search this Forum - lots of suggestions.
  2. Alternative is to take the train from Bergen to Myrdal and then The Flåm Train from Myrdal to Flåm - there is a shuttle between Flåm and Gudevangen.
  3. You can order tickets on-line at vybuss.com. It is not immediately possible to pay with international credit cards, but you can create a PayPal account and pay this way. You must also reserve a seat on the Express bus.
  4. it is always difficult to predict whether the ship will be delayed in arrival or whether the port will be canceled due to bad weather. However, I would think that a 10 am arrival in Olden is pretty safe. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem booking an 11 am excursion in Olden. No problems regarding in migration.
  5. Although it is not 'Duty free' in AMS, it is cheaper to buy wine there than in Stockholm. moreover, wine can only be bought in special shops called 'Systembolaget’ in Sweden. They have excellent wine but expensive. https://www.systembolaget.se
  6. Nordfjordeid and Åndalsnes are small towns with less than 3000 inhabitants and you must expect limited facilities. I have not been to the two towns myself and have no experience - hope others can help. There is very little to see in these towns. Trondheim, Ålesund, and Bergen are all larger cities with good facilities and with interesting sights. Haugesund and Kristiansand are bigger towns but not that interesting. I don't know where your excursions go, but check if there are toilets at the places, if they are, for example, viewpoints. If it's museums, it's not a problem.
  7. Ports of call in the Norway are very, very different - some are very small towns with few and limited facilities - others are medium-sized cities with good facilities. For more detailed answers you need to post you itinerary.
  8. Some years since I used a private driver - I can highly recommend Deva - send a request by e-mail or WhatsApp and ask for price WhatsApp: +6285238493089 Email: dgrock1140@ yahoo .com (Remove Spaces)
  9. The Norway in a Nutshell® is a trademarked experience by Fjord Tours AS - originally designed as a full day trip between Oslo and Bergen including Bergen Railway, Flåm Railway, Fjord cruise on Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord and Bus trip through Nærøy valley. I don't know what RCCL offers, but you can book the Flåm Railway or the boat trip through Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord yourself. Book railway early - will sell out. You’ll cruise Aurlandsfjord when entering and leaving Flåm. What time of year? - sounds like roads might be closed due to snow.
  10. A good example of how difficult it is to provide proper assistance when the information provided is extremely limited or deficient.
  11. Are you taking the train as part of an excursion or individual? Likely the train from Civitavecchia 8:42 - arrival S. Pietro at 9:25 It’s a 15 minutes walk from the station to the Vatican. When do you need to be back in Civitavecchia and from which station? If Colosseum most likely from Roma Termini. You can check Italy train times here
  12. might depend on date/weekday. One to two train each hour. More details please.
  13. For information. The price with public transport (train, bus, metro) is DKK 24 (2 zones) from the center of Copenhagen to Oceankaj (or vice versa). Same ticket for all means of transport including the harbor buses. Tickets can be paid for by credit card in ticket machines.
  14. I suggest you ask this question at the Roll Call for your cruise - but you should also get boarding time from HAL.
  15. I'm not quite sure if the free shuttle bus will run here in 2023 - my best advice is to take the M4 to Orientkaj and from there bus 25 or 164 to Oceankaj terminal. While 164 runs on a fixed timetable, bus 25 runs a shuttle between the metro station and the cruise terminal every 20 minutes. Tickets for the Metro are also valid for buses.
  16. Sorry. I didn’t express myself clearly. Of course, you can leave the ship on your own in the ports of call. What I was trying to say was that it cannot on your own leave the ship in one port and meet it again in a later port. Not because it is not possible, but because it is difficult in practice without great costs. Hurtigruten does offer excursions starting one port and meeting the ship in a later port but difficult to organize yourself.
  17. The work to build the Stad ship tunnel connecting Western Norway is expected to begin in autumn 2024. The Stad ship tunnel will ensure safer and more efficient navigation past the Stad Sea, the most weather-exposed and most dangerous stretch of sea we have along the Norwegian coast.
  18. No - it’s 34 port of call from Bergen to Kirkenes in 6 days - and 34 ports going back - a total of 68 ports in11 days. (Might be one or two ports less depending on time if year). Many port stops are 10 to 15 minutes - also stops during night. Link to sailing plan. You can only leave/board at different ports at Hurtigruten organized excursions - not easy/possible to make it on your own. You can get off at a port for some days and continue by another ship but it will have an impact on price. Not possible to purchase a return voyage for one ship and then change to another ship during the voyage.
  19. I'm a big fan of Hurtigruten but always wary of recommending them (or Havila) when it comes to fjord cruises. It is a somewhat different experience. Sails in to Geiranger but otherwise exclusively between the many islands along the Norwegian west coast from Bergen to Kirkenes - 34 ports of call in 6 days.
  20. The possibility of sailing on the Norwegian Heritage fjords (primarily Flåm and Geiranger) will be limited from 2026 due to 'Zero emission zones') I think the cruise lines are trying to test alternative port options now - it is probably also cheaper to dock in Vig than in Flåm .
  21. Vik (Vikøyri) is completely new destination and I don't think you can find information about Vik here on CC. and I have no knowledge of Vik. I have found a few links: https://cruise-norway.no/destinations/vik/ https://www.visitnorway.com/listings/vik-tourist-information/12251/
  22. I only know about this private Taxi Guide.
  23. Yes, the third option has two deep fjords. For the fjord cruising be at the upper decks at sunrise (04:30 am) Haugesund is not that interesting - plan in advance. Missing Bergen. Book the railway at Norway’s Best
  24. I definitely vote for option 2 - Haugesund and Molde are some of the least interesting Norwegian fjord ports. Flåm and Bergen are some of my favorites. Stavanger and Ålesund are also nice ports. If you consider the railway in Flåm book early - Train will sell out. It is a general misunderstanding that the size of ships matters when sailing the fjords. The experience is exactly the same regardless of the size of the ship in the deep Norwegian fjords. There are quite a few ports on the Lofoten islands that are only visited by smaller ships.
  25. A nice route. 1. in Flåm, the most obvious and popular is the railway - be aware that the number of tickets is limited and that the train sells out. 2. Land and Trolls is a fantastic trip, although it is long. Gives a good insight into the Norwegian nature. 3. Have no experience with this trip. 4. Yes, viewpoints are a must in Geiranger. 5. The Loen Skylift is a good choice. It is important that you are up early (at sunrise 4:30) to enjoy the scenic sailings to Flåm, Geiranger and Nordfjordeid
