  1. You can get the AARP discount gift cards for other cruise lines ..not the AARP promo ,that is a HAL only .The AATP promotion was established by a HAL VP ro get more business booked . Well just think that you see this & think hey that is a good deal & book a cruise for 2025 & then they tell you no you can not get that $200 . My first reaction cancel & maybe cancel more .I personally do not like bait & switch deals .It comes across that way with all the tiny print . IMO just plain bad business tactics .don't we all have enough of this stuff already happening
  2. Unfortunately nothing is automatic with this cruise line .Now that they are struggling with the carnival corp high debt ,they think saving several hundred dollars will get them there , We got news for Carnival corp , loose your customer base & that will cost you more in the long run . We have sailed all over the world with many cruise lines . After covid this nick picking stuff same up . People don't like nick picking
  3. The HAL crap makes me very angry , We understood why they had to raise prices but cetainly don't cheapen your product because that is a very very fast way to loose customer base & or support
  4. I am not going ro read every messaage on this subject .All I can tell people is that when this HAL VP came up with this promotion with AARP ,he was appealing to older people who have AARP cards & have the where with all that can afford HAL cruises . Now if HAL "cheapens" or " ,makes it so hard " to get this dam credit it will ultimately back fire . Who really wants to beg this company for some thing that they should honor .The way it was presented was show us you are a AARP member & go book your cruise with the AAARP on board credit Now ,the other day I phoned HAL got a very nice rep but asked to speak with her supervisor because I roo was getting this dlack about you can;t get it now LOL ,so i simply said well I can then cancel 2 cruises ,wow the credit came through .I truly hate to threaten cancellations but ,it really got under my skin . All these rules & regulations leave sour grapes Wquestion for HAL --would you rather not gibe these credits you promise or would toy prefer we do not book the cruises with your cruise line ??
  5. wanted to say 2017 was the year we cruise New England/Canada
  6. Hey Btuce enjoy your cruise .hope that the hurricane does not spoil too much for port stops .We did that itinerary from Bayone NJ back in 201y on a huge Royal Carribean ship . Personally I rathwer do it on a smaller ship ,just too many people in rgwe ship ,still a nice cruise . If course the time if year is importasnt for New England /Canafa cruises. We booked Zaandam for a 10 say Mexico cruise ,so we are interested in what you discuss about the ship Have a pleasant journey Cliff
  7. Thanks Crystal ,tomorrow we will be in touch with HAL ,about getting both the early booking bonus & the AAEP bonus applied
  8. Thanks so much for finding this for us .We greatly appreciate it .
  9. Srooy the cruise date is April 2 ,2025 my error . Now should it qialify for the HAL early booking bonus & AARP bonus which both would be on board credits ?
  10. Septv12 ,2024 .We just booked a 10 day Mexican Eiviera cruise on the $1 each deposit .Shouldn;t there be a eaqrly booking bonus for on board credit & since we qualifies for the AARO credit ,shouldn;t we get that credot as well ? TIA
  11. Even the cruise line could not answer the question with 3 different people . One gave me a phone number that was disconnected , I learned to rely on my own instincts
  12. Then try what happens ro a company when a Yelp rating does south
  13. Hank was ralking about a company selling their product one way & after the customer buys that product on the premiss that is what they will get but changes it enough ,it becomes a bait & switch , There are many consumer laws that protect people from bait & switch This is not down hill this is reality FWIW we never would use a company PCC . Iy has been my experience one time that a cruise line sold us the cruise on a non cancerable deposit but did not tell me it was a non cancerable deposit . Once burned . We do a whole lot better with TAs
  14. Get hold of yourself . question is if any company sells on the pretence to get the sale & then changes the product & will not refund the customers money ,then yes the customer has the right to sue for a change in terms of sale . It is iillegal to do bait & switch
  15. Hank another thing that could backfire on any cruise line is the impact that people have on xocial media , Huge changes gurting twhat people had orginally paid for imo would reallt back fire long term & not in the cruise lines favor or even perhaps a low Yelp rating .Imo there is no business that hurts the public purposely should stay in business
  16. Hank if this happens then people would have the right to cancel for a full refund imo .Drastic changes are premeditated & even could be sued in court . After all there are cruisers rights as well .At least a small claims court could make that decision
  17. Yes it is sad but true Hank . when I can not get a positive response I do not take any risk is my plicy .we are in the process od changing TAs . We found a good one that is more responsive that the one at present . Our cruises are not complicated .We must book early to get the handicap balcony we want . We may or may not add Club Orange to the booking .That is about it ,so we also qualify for the early booking benefits & AARP member for the OBCs ,Than we add CCL stock benefit as we can . Cliff
  18. We have a TA as well . However ,there are questions that come about that we expect HAL reps to know the answers . It i s frustrating when neither the HAL reps on the phone & then the web site is down as well
  19. Already have spoken with 3 HAL representatives who do not have the answer .The last one gave me a phone number but they are not open yet . BTW ,we were on hold for 20 minutes as well . Also trying to get their web site to respond & it says Bad something ot other Wondering how many of our companion cruisers are runing into these fifficulties ?
  20. When a cruise is less than 14 days HAL is charging $25 each per day,$50 total each day for Club Orange ,. So on a 10 day cruise we choose the main dining room early seating ,booked over one year in advance , Hawaii cruise being a 18 day cruise the Clib Orange charge is $30 total per fay for 2 people .$imo $30 percday is worth it for Clib Orange on Pinnaclwe Class ships only
  21. Ir was not our Hawaii cruise which is Clib Orange .It was about another cruise we booked & not clib Orange
  22. Wondering if HAL will have any lecturers on Hawaii cruises of 18 days ?
  23. Yup we will be making a TA change . It seemed logical than any TA would be able to make the appropriate dinging reservation for the cruise .
