  1. They do, however, have a mid-cruise, laundry special. All you can stuff in a laundry bag (bring tape) for $19.99. It worked well for us for making sure we had clean clothes for the rest of the cruise...

    Enjoy you cruise..

An iron is available upon request from Steward or guest services (or housekeeping... numbers will be on the phone in your room)

Usually, but not always. My Alaska cruise I'm on right now did not.

  2. Consider that these islands get a large portion of their income from tourism. Consider that the majority of cruise excursions are beach days, booze cruises, wave riders, catamaran rides, snorkel trips and dive trips. They could get sufficient infrastructure in place to accept cruise ships (also bringing relief supplies) with a lot less effort than to rebuild a hotel.

Fwiw, a lot of excursions involve boats. Many of those boats are a mess. For example, we have a great catamaran we like to take in Tortola. The owners posted a photo of their marina and it looked like a stack of sticks...made of boats.

  3. A lot of you got your jump to conclusions mat out for this one.

The question is a fair one given they gave a half answer already. I have NOT been calling NCL or anything like that as I am very aware of the situation in Florida. Again...I live in Houston so I know how things go.

Fwiw for all you high horse folks I made another sizable hurricane donation (same as I did for Harvey) to several funds benefitting Florida, USVI, and BVI...have you?

In the end if they had said "We are evaluating all cruise itineraries commencing in November or later" it would have been clear that no one knows, instead they addressed Escape through November.

If you don't like the post move on. The only people I'm bothering are you all, not anyone impacted by the hurricane unless they just have nothing better to do than be on here.

  4. No rationale for annoyance nor hysteria. That is just cruel and mean spirited in a time of crisis. changes to 10's of thousands of reservations don't happen overnight (esp with HQ closed) and people will be notified once the changes are made. Usually in the order of sailing. The Escape is immediately affected. Other ships will have their passengers notified when/if they change.

It is funny that people following NCL on Facebook know more than people on the ship, if you can't see the humor in that you need to lighten up. These are not people in any sort of danger, they're in Cozumel.

I can be annoyed if I want...I didn't expect to hear anything for a while, but to get an incomplete message and feel like your ship/itinerary may get short stick given it is a one-off is a little annoying.

Don't fall off your high horse.

  5. The post below was made on Facebook and their website today.

September 11th 10:00 AM ET (2:00 PM UTC)

    ...

Due to the devastating impact in the Caribbean from Hurricane Irma, all of Norwegian Escape’s upcoming Eastern Caribbean sailings until November will be altered to a Western Caribbean itinerary. All guests scheduled to sail on any affected cruises will be notified of the change.

    ...

I'm curious about cruise and I understand as a Houstonian who just went through Harvey I know that there is a lot going on, but if they are going to put out any info why not be clearer:

    1) Why only address Escape, it's just one of quite a few boats? There are other ships going to E Caribbean, including Epic, during this timeframe.

    2) Does anyone have any insight on "until November" and what that means? Through November or until November?

Somewhat annoyed. Hysterically the Facebook post has several cruisers currently on Escape posting they don't even know this information lol...

  6. No question, you need to go on NCL. One of the bigger ships like Escape, Getaway, Breakaway, Epic, or Bliss depending on timing.

Studio cabins are great and unless you're unlucky there is a good solo crowd. These boats also offer a lot of entertainment options to meet others.

  7. Sadly none on the breakaway. Plenty of delicious vegetarian options, but o sheehans didn't really have anything but sides for veg people. Oh! Also, in my opinion, any time there is a meal with set courses (I don't know the getaway, but on BA, it was the cirque show and wine lovers the musical) where you have to request a veg option, that option is usually subpar. Best veg meal I have had on two BA cruises was the vegetable napolean at le bistro.

Meals with the set courses are poor for non-vegetarian too.

  8. I find it humorous some of you are such champions of the worker...these folks are at best somewhat marginalized in that respect. There is a reason cruiseline employees are largely from Eastern Europe, Philippines, etc. Yes, working for cruise line is presumably a better opportunity than they have at home, but they are definitely exploited somewhat.

If you have that big of a moral obligation and outrage over this you should simply stop cruising. [emoji23]
