  1. I really think that they should be happy that she did not have a heart condition. Bronchitis can get serious. Would they have been happier if she had a heart condition but the ship doctor tells her it is just a cough? All these people talking lawsuit are looking for a free ride at someone's expense. Be glad you had insurance, her heart checked out fine and move on with life. You have a good story to tell of the adventure.

The SUN is still a new ship...

Is there an itinerary that you are leaning towards?

In addition to the thing where we can not know how the launch will go...

We do not know if there will be design changes and any real differences between the two ships.

I think this could still be a work-in-progress as the see how things are going on the SUN.

For many long time Princess cruisers, I think these ships are a real departure from the Princess we have known.   These ships are big, full of glitz, big screens... ( Pool Deck, Piazza/Lobby, Dome...) etc...      Just like there are probably significant differences in some of the Royal Caribbean ships.

As a first time Princess cruiser, this wouldn't have any influence on your decision!

Actually the differences were what attracted us. LOL

  3. My wife and I normally cruise on Royal but want to try Princess. We are looking at booking either Sun or Star for late November of 2025. I am wondering what thoughts are about Star being functional with the shows and activities like the ropes course since it is roughly a month and a half after it being introduced? I would like to think that they would learn their lesson after the bad reviews and backlash from Sun not being ready. I have also heard that they may make minor changes to Star from what they have learned on Sun. Thoughts?

  4. I don't need to try it to not like it. My wife likes to go on the balcony read and enjoy the breeze  sometimes in the afternoon while I may take a nap. I like to go on the balcony and enjoy the breeze while she is getting ready. Neither one of us wants the A/C shut off while the other is out there. To me they built way too many of these infinite balcony rooms on Icon.

RCCL have the perfect opportunity to use the Edge Class design from Celebrity as a basis for this new class. Firstly, the Parabolic Ultra-Bow is being used on both the Edge Class and the Icon Class, that is the bow of the future. Secondly, they have the opportunity to either use LNG or the new system for Celebrity Excel/Vertex which has the potential for 3 different fuel types. Thirdly, the use of Infinite balconies on the Edge Class is so perfect that it would almost be impossible for RCCL to not use them all over the ship. They will almost certainly redesign the ship to be more Royal in style but it could use the same dimensions as the larger Edge Class ships as it would keep the ship at around that 130,000 GT range. The development of the Discovery Class, is almost certainly underway, it has been for a long time already, I wouldn’t be surprised if we know more about this next year when RCCL put their order in with Meyer Werft for the construction of the first ship for either 2027/2028.

I could agree with most of those statements except the Infinite balconies being perfect. I think they are far from perfect and much prefer a true balcony that my wife or I can enjoy without shutting off the A/C to the rest of the cabin.

A tip for next time: Go into the app and snag a time for all guests. Then later go back in and fill in the rest of the info.

It used to be that way. Recently when you try to check in it makes you fill out all the info. You can't skip ahead.

Nope, we love the brand and I feel like if I tried another line I'd just be comparing it to RCCL the whole time anyway. I have, however, come to terms that I may only be able to sail once a year instead of two, and per usual, will have to remain very flexible on travel dates so I can lean into any "deals" I find.

DH and I did an AI at a 5-star resort in 2021 before the cruise lines lifted the vaccination requirements - all I did the whole time was look out to the ocean wishing my room was waaaaaay out there in the middle of the sea 🫠

I always compare my cruises with others but value are also part of the comparison. Why stay loyal and just pay way more for one cruise than what you previously went on two. Also the decline in the quality of the food. Personally I enjoy Royal and I have stock but I will not stay loyal to a corporation. I have and will continue to look for the best value on Royal and other cruise lines.

I agree with you about getting served the ice cream.
I’m just a little sensitive about so many complaints about kids on this board (not you).  In my cruising experience, most times I’ve been annoyed by passenger behavior, it has been adult behavior.

Can't condone or do much about the adults on a cruise. Parents on the other hand should do something about their childrens manners and behavior. Use the bad behavior of adults to show them how not to act. People behaving badly is not an excuse for children to behave badly.

Yes, that’s the number I called and also have Just from the answers (each one was different) I received from that number. I called a few times and got different answers each time so I didn’t want to keep calling. It was obvious either that weren’t FULLY informed OR (which I think is the real reason) if they tell you the wrong thing on the phone people will be on the ship having a fight with (and you know that type will ask) a supervisor screaming at them “THEY TOLD ME WHEN I CALLED”

Thats probably why in both my calls and a few emails back and forth they didn’t tell me EXACT information other than “either on deck 4 or 5, they’ll let you know when you board”

Maybe each ship has different rules but the one thing they are CERTAIN OF. There will DEFINITELY be at least one on the deck of where the running track is. Which on the  Icon which is (even I forgot but KNOW FOR SURE it’s on 4 or 5).
Im on Icon and I’m hoping to get an answer from them because besides being the largest it’s the only ship that has a dog crew member, so maybe on Icon they have made available a multiple choice of choices. As being it’s the largest ship, I can’t imagine only having one. They must have at least 3 (Aft, Mid, Forward)

or then again, you never know. maybe just Mid. Who knows (other than someone that has been on that ship) I hope it’s not forward. because I booked Aft. Dog relief wasn’t on my mind when I booked. Price was.

I can't offer a lot of help on this but every Royal ship I have been on the relief area has been at the aft usually starboard side.

Sure, but the person I was replying to seemed to suggest that Carnival does a Spirit class ship because of size considerations.

Quantum class is similar in size to Carnival's Excel class, much larger than Spirit class. That was my point.

Correct. I don't dissagree with you. I will say that I have seen many complaints from cruisers on Quantum class ships that they do not go to many of the areas that other ships go due to their size.

  11. "Welcome to the first -- I think your first call or the first call since you've been covering us. So the new ships get a premium. There is no doubt that the new ships get a premium. The way we manage brand by brand, how much of that premium to get. It also depends on where we're putting that ship because we're not going to necessarily want to put the best ship on the best itinerary because that's not the good thing for the overall brand."

I think what he is stating is very obvious. If he didn't come to this conclusion I would question his position in the corporation. It stands to reason that it you put an old ship with a boring itinerary nobody would go. A newer ship can carry a bad itinerary as more people are going for the ship itself.

Most of Carnival Cruise Line's profitability is in onboard spend. So the most profitable itinerary for CCL would be a cruise with lots of proprietary ports so they capture most of the spend.

Royal has Quantum class ships in Alaska.

I think a lot of what ships go to Alaska have to do with design. Those Quantum class ships are made mor for cold wheather.

In the end it's their fault, no matter the reason. They took a non-RC excursion and knew the risks.

I guess that may be true in any instance that it is their fault but without knowing everything it is a little tough. In the end even with a sponsored excursion you take a risk of being left. Any time you leave the ship it could be your fault if you are left. You could say it is someones fault for being left because they took a cruise out of the coounty. May be their fault but without knowing the story it is hard to lay blame. That being said I hate seeing people walking down the pier as the whole ship is waiting on them.

Exactly - one step at a time. In recent history, it seemed like the Bay Bridge would be replaced first which would allow taller ships but would require a new terminal in Baltimore prior to reaching the Key Bridge. But now it looks like the reverse might occur with the rebuilding of the Key Bridge. However, the old Key Bridge was very steep at its 185' above the water so the onramps would have to be re-engineered to allow a lower grade if the height were to be increased (e.g., the NYC Verrazano Bridge is 225' - a full 40' higher than the Key or Bay Bridge.

I noticed how steep the approaches were in the photos. I was wondering if it was an illusion.
