  1. I thought leaving ducks on a ship was a Carnival thing. MJ
  2. @lenquixote66 Lenny-I read that you will be getting a medical aide to help you and Toby. If it is a consolation for you, I am getting an aide too. She is a retired LPN who will come over for an hour or two to help me get up and ready for the day. We think we will need her help for 2-3 weeks until I get mobile and have less pain. I insisted on having help so that it would relieve my hubby of some caretaking effort. Caretaking, while a loving thing to do, can be a great effort for the person. Anything that can help the caretaker is so appreciated. As always, wishing you good days. @DaniDanielle Marietta-I am hoping that your hubby’s health improves so he feels better. Difficult decision about rehab, but reasonable under the circumstances. Dear friends are facing the same decision today when they consult with the hospital social worker. In a way, you will still be caring for him-just in a different way. Hoping it all works out for him and you. Take care- MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  3. @dani negreanu Thank you for asking, Dani. My hubby and I are getting things ready for surgery day. Just waiting for Tuesday and hoping to be home Wednesday. I am fortunate because I am surrounded by friends and family offering prayers and support. Whenever I see your name on CC, I think of you and your loved ones-hoping that you are safe. Take care MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  4. @DaniDanielleHoping for a better day for your hubby and you. To all who post here- wishing you all a pleasant November! MJ👩🏻
  5. @Momof3gurlz Deb-I have been catching up with reading Dani’s thread and read that your hubby is getting a hip replaced this Tuesday. We will be recovery buddies as I am getting a knee replaced on Tuesday as well. Wishing him a successful surgery and recovery. And yes, I have heard that hips are “easier” than knees! Luckily for Andy, he has spent his days enjoying DisneyWorld, while I have been navigating pre-op preparations including medical clearances and acquiring medical equipment and supplies. My hubby and I are planning a Florida vacation in March, once I am fully recovered from the surgery. We think it is a good plan to have something to look forward to in the months ahead. Wishing you both good days as Andy recuperates. MJ👩🏻
  6. @Sea Dog That is not a Painkiller! We always served them to Summer guests using Pusser’s rum,Cocoa Lopez , pineapple juice and orange juice. Always delicious. A friend introduced us to the Pusser’s Painkiller after hiring a sailboat to take him and his family for a vacation sailing around the BVI. He may have gotten the idea from the Soggy Dollar, but that vacation was over 35 years ago. It did say the drink you were served was made with coconut syrup. That would be a no go. I think you may have ordered something else and did not waste drinking time and calories on that concoction! MJ👩🏻
  7. Good morning, all! I was feeling left out as I was not asked by CC if I was a robot. Until this morning. I failed the bag test-should have had glasses on, I think. I passed finding the hats. Wondering if this is a one time thing or will it be a daily challenge. Anyway, it took less than a minute. Wishing all who post here a very pleasant day. MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  8. It could be a headline from 50 years ago. A college friend and hubby went to Haiti for their honeymoon. They did not feel safe at the resort where they were staying or in the area of the resort. They cut their trip short to return home. Sympathy goes to good people who are living in Haiti and have to abide the violence. MJ
  9. @Sea Dog Good thatCC has cooperated. Enjoy your vacation! MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  10. @Sea Dog Jumping in here as I don’t want you to be annoyed with the CC glitch. You and Linda are starting on a lovely vacation soon. Focus on enjoying the cruise and visiting Tikki bar hotspots in California. Understandable that you may have wanted to start your live review, but it may not be possible. Plan B may be to do a review once you return home. Several posters who have been posting for years do it that way, and their reviews are interesting to read, for sure. In particular, I am thinking of @Bimmer09 Norris, who posts on the Princess and Celebrity boards. and @Jamman54 Jeff, who posts on the Carnival boards. Also @shadowmeboy posts on NCL boards. All of them include a great number of photos and some videos in their reviews. I have read that they all choose to do post cruise reviews as that allows them time to compose their postings without taking time away from their cruise vacation. So, if you can’t get to do a live review, there are precedents that show that post cruise reviews are just fine. Wishing you and Linda safe travel to California and a Bon Voyage ! MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  11. I suggest you cross pack the checked-in bags. A bit of your clothing, DH’s clothing ,and a bit of DD’s clothing in each of the individual suitcases. That way, if one bag is lost/ misplaced, there will be clothing available for all of you. As for “elegant “ night-don’t overthink or overpack. Whatever the evening is labeled, it will be casual. Perhaps a pair of long pants and a dress shirt for DH, a simple dress for you and DD with sandals, ballet flats or plain heels. Gone are the days of full out formal wear. MJ
  12. @Ozark_Kid John- Deciding to no longer take cruise vacations must have been a difficult one for you and your wife, it is a close of a chapter filled with enjoyment, friendship, visiting new places and creating so many memories. But, putting well - being and health first is what is important. A dear friend was in her eighties when she told me- “At a certain age or place in life, comfort is the first consideration. So, don’t turn down an opportunity to fly first class, stay at a beautiful resort and put time into your vacation,so there is no rushing about.Make your days enjoyable !” As I am in my 70s,I truly get what she was talking about. You and your wife must make your days as comfortable as possible. You both are blessed with a lovely family,a beautiful garden, and friends that care about you. And, Kenzie’s beautiful smile and loving heart. Wishing you good days. MJ👩🏻
  13. IMHO -Tacky! Does anyone wear a lanyard, other than those on a convention, at an upscale resort or an all inclusive resort? Why on a cruise ship? 🤫 MJ
  14. To all posting here in the path of Milton- prayers and good thoughts for your safety during the storm and strength to handle any after effects. Hoping 🤞the forecasters are wrong regarding Milton’s severity. Take care MJ👩🏻
  15. @dani negreanu Dani- Thank you for posting the photo of your son and grandsons. Their smiles show the love between them. Hoping that your family will continue to be safe and that better days are ahead for all of your family, friends and neighbors. Shalom MJ👩🏻
  16. @dani negreanu Sending prayers to you, family and friends during this trying time. Also to the loved ones of @BonTexasNY MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  17. Good to hear about all the grandchildren having happy birthdays. Congratulations to all! 🥳 🎂 😊 @Lionesss OMG -a cat as a plus1 at a wedding reception! I can’t imagine what the other guests and you and hubby thought when you saw the cat at your table! The older I get, the less phased I get at wacky happenings! But….a cat - Wow! Take care MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  18. @Lionesss Wait… I have to ask. Did that person bring her cat to the wedding reception? Or was she paying attention to a cat at the garden center? Just curious. But you know what curiosity did to the cat.🙄 MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  19. @Lionesss Interesting wedding venue. Was the reception held in a garden center? Is the cookie table a local custom? Not familiar with available homemade cookies and treats at receptions here on Long Island. Very generous of you to do all that baking for your friend’s daughter. MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  20. Could you clarify the disembarkation process with Guest Services or your suite butler or concierge? First hand answer may be more accurate per Freedom of the Seas than other posters' experience with it. Enjoy the rest of your vacation! MJ🙋🏻‍♀️
  21. @lenquixote66 Hoping your procedure goes well. No fun sitting in the dentist chair especially for a redo procedure. Wishing Toby a happy birthday and a year full of good days ! @Momof3gurlz Aloha- enjoy your Hawaiian vacation. Quite the effort to reach the resort from the East coast, but rewarding once you arrive in a beautiful place. MJ👩🏻
  22. According to this,NY teams Giants and Bills do not have the rudest fans. Good to see NY folks are not at the top of the list! MJ👩🏻
  23. Yes,we walked the Waterfront after being deterred by the situation with the walking track. It was okay, sometimes we were dodging passengers and glass partitions. We prefer full promenade decks such as those on older Princess ships or Cunard. Or, at least dedicated walking tracks for walking without having to dodge passengers going to/from other attractions placed near those tracks. MJ
