I don’t believe the cheese cave excursion is offered on Princess. Is there an independent tour from town or any insight about this adventure? I may have this wrong but is it by Ensenada? Thanks.

It looks like our Oct 21, 2023 Princess Discovery cruise will overnight in SF. There’s 4 of us thinking about renting a car and heading to visit relatives in San Rafael then head to wine country. Day 2 to San Jose and Los Gatos. Where can we easily rent a car by the pier and park overnight after day 1? We don’t need to sightsee SF. TIA.

I agree with OP about the buffet on Princess. I was on the Majestic and the Discovery in the first half of 2022. In June and September we cruised on RCCL. The main dining room menus are about equal in selection and quality. However I felt a significant difference favoring RCCL over Princess regarding the buffet. On Princess the selections looked dry and unappealing. This is mainly for the breakfast and lunch offerings.

If she has mobility issues then I would suggest taking the bus at the port into town. IIRC, I think it’s $4 RT and drops you in the middle of town. The short walk I was referring might be 1/4 of a mile. I just know the next time we dock in Ensenada we will walk vs. the bus. There are a lot street of street vendors we missed outside of the port area.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ARRIVING DAYS ONLY ON HOTEL WITH PRINCESS

The Oscars are at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. If you really enjoy the Oscars and awards, I would recommend you go to the very new Motion Picture Academy Museum at mid-Wiltshire. It is supposed to be outstanding if you enjoy the Academy Awards and motion picture history and exhibits. -

Uber and Lyft are not that easy to connect at LAX. It requires a shuttle with all your luggage to the ride share pick up area. You’ll be there with about 100 or so other people. -
A short walk to outside of the port then hail a taxi.

I always tip a couple of bucks for anything brought to the room except breakfast since I feel a special trip is made for my room service order. The breakfasts are delivered with a cart for any number of cabins in the nearby area and not by an individual trip from the kitchen.

You absolutely can. I’ve ordered morning Bloody Mary’s, afternoon beers and pre-dinner wines for both of us almost everyday. On top of that morning lattes and Americanos with our drink package. It was so easy and convenient. This was the best part of the drink package.

Yes drinks and coffee, including specialty coffees are included up to the $12 limit for alcohol. Cheese and fruit plate was very plain. The cheese was very dry. The guacamole was good.

The table minimum for craps was $5 on the Majestic (March ‘22) and Discovery (April ‘22). I don’t play blackjack but I believe the minimum was $10 as was other table games.

Curious, did your wife need chopsticks to eat the noodles because they were called Asian noodles? I’m Asian and I find a fork works just as well. -
Yup, our Discovery cruise April 29 had free laundry, detergent, dryer sheets. You could order the supplies from the room service menu. Our cabin was across from the laundromat and we did just about all our laundry on the last night.

Just Off Navigator - 05/13/22-05/16/22

I got off the ship today. There were about 1800 passengers aboard. Pools were freezing cold, slides not as bad. Short lines for the slides. Adult area was very crowded. Dining rooms somewhat empty during our 7pm reservations. iSkate show was decent, Showgirls not. Live music venues were entertaining. -
How crowded has Navigator been lately?

Just got off the 3 day cruise today. Pools were freezing cold. Water slides not too bad. There were about 1800 passengers according to the Captain. -
I haven’t used a hair dryer in years. However on the Discovery the hair dryer was the kind that’s always in hotels and prior cruises. Curiously, what are the non “old fashioned” hair dryers?
